  1. This. You just knew, from the instant the joy from the second goal wore off, that we were going to back down and let them take control. You can't afford to do do that against any half-decent team, let alone United. Great display from the kids, though, but I'm irked with the senior defenders. Too many soft goals given up now, especially aerially.
  2. Hogg does have the energy, let's see if he's got the discipline. However, if United deploy Carrick, Fletcher, and O'Shea, the lack of height we'd have with Hogg and Bannan together might prove problematic.
  3. Though I suppose you mean "specialists", Baker and Lichaj have both played left back before, Lichaj and Clark can play in midfield, and Halfhuid can play right back, centre back, centre forward, so I'm sure there's some way to fit just about everybody in. Might not even need Davies! We have a lot of left feet, too. Just from our youth, Bannan, Delph, Baker, Clark, Lowry, I think Carruthers, that Daniel Johnson who made the bench in the LC, maybe more?
  4. Looked a bag of nerves when he found himself with space and time yesterday, which led to chances being lost (though credit for actually moving into space intelligently, unlike some of our other strikers). Should improve with games, hopefully, as he gets used to it and calms down.
  5. Still can't defend free kicks from wide areas. Bollocks.
  6. Pretty drab on the whole, but a good rating for Clark, performing well in a new position in one of our biggest games and almost scoring, and for Bannan, just for trying to out jump Zigic!
  7. Before "plumerai", the lyrics should be "je te" instead of another "gentille". They sound pretty similar if slurred enough, but "plumerai" is the 1st person future tense of "plumer" (to pluck), so "nice (I) shall pluck" doesn't make sense. "Je te" makes it "I shall pluck you", which I'm sure could be manipulated to humourous effect in real time with a touch of creativity. ;^) children's song lyrics pedantry>
  8. That would be very, very interesting if true. Finally some height in midfield (which has become my pet concern lately), and a left foot to maybe lend balance through the centre.
  9. There was at least one stretch where we had virtually no possession (according to the in-game pop-up), like 16% or something. Would guess that really hurt our final tally.
  10. Played out of position early on, so can't hold ineffectiveness then against him. In his proper position, showed glimpses of quality last week, but was fairly useless today.
  11. If you look at the Guardian Chalkboards, the only players we had winning "midfield" aerial 50/50s in any significant proportion were our central defenders pushing up. That's a rather dangerous game, as it either requires a higher line than we can play at the moment (imo, anyway) or a centre back out of position, meaning someone has to cover or we leave a gap in behind. We need some height in midfield to take on that responsibility and alleviate early pressure on our defense.
  12. Albrighton MoM just for having a couple cracks at goal, which nobody else in our side seemed interested in doing. Halsey WoM (rocket polisher, not Woman).
  13. Our players are too committed to facing our goal, in all areas of the pitch.
  14. Delf hardly got the ball, thanks to us continually turning it back over to Chelsea, and the few times he did, he was mostly stuck out wide and too deep. Same problem with Carew, honestly. Why can't our strikers stay in the middle and try to get into the damned box? Our defenders seem more likely to get on crosses than our forwards!
  15. was thinking this too hmm anyone know anything about the lad?? Academy player according to the OS, also made the Reserves squad for the United game. OS page.
  16. Cole does have the discipline to keep an eye on Gabby, though. He'll be forced to check his attacking forays to avoid leaving Gabby in space behind.
  17. Fixed. Aren't you forgetting our revolutionary Centre Winger? It's like the Inside Forward of old, but with a skill set completely unlike the one that actually made it effective.
  18. Need to wallop them again to get our goal difference headed in the right direction. Here's hoping our strikers turn up!
  19. If we were planning on holding out for the 1-0 against a team like stoke, somebody (probably Albrighton) needed to come off for Cuellar in the last 20 minutes or so. Also, the wide-right set piece strikes again. I'm convinced there must be something wrong with how the boys are being trained, as it seems like we concede from free kicks originating in that area of the pitch once every three games or so.
  20. As much as I don't care for him, if a game ever needed Heskey, it's this one.
