anyone watching this in London? i was planning on heading to the sports bar in canary wharf (crossrail place) - a few of us (some unlucky enough to fall into the SHA category and therefore being mates in the loosest sense) will be heading there
Did it work against swansea ?
Thought that - out of our recent games - we actually looked best against Swansea (and the United game 2bf) in that I believe we had up to 2/3 shots on target. Impressive stuff....
Question: Do you think this new tactic will work well against the top 10 sides or so who may actually set out to attack us... keeping the ball may frustrate them and we can then exploit the space? so far we'v eonly played it against weaker opposition...
that said the top teams are there for a reason...
I think we need to move the ball quickly from defense to attack and then play short passes between the attacking players rather than short passes through the team...
that sending off.... i mean what??? Delph wasnt even going in at pace. Awful decision. Wont get rescinded though.... still referee has a dreadful afternoon.
Sanchez on the other hand was IMMENSE.
Grealish for N'Zogbia and Gabby for Weimann and we'll have a decent starting line up. the latter two were horrendous today.
on another note-
if we lost to everton and tottenham and didnt beat QPR then - given how tight the league is behind us - we could suddenly find ourselves 16th/17th which is why i think there would be pressure on us without a result in the everton game and a win at QPR.
played quite well i thought. with the exception of not converting chances.. you'd have thought if it was 1-0 to us at 80mins we could have held it.
nontheless - hardest run of game sout the way - would hope we could beat a struggling everton next week and then push on
If we had 30 points on January 1st we'd be on track for a 60 point season which would, based on recent history, be good enough for 7th or 8th, depending on how the other teams fare.
There is not a snowball's chance in hell of that happening I'm afraid
Crikey, if we managed that we'd potentially be looking at safety before the end of January
agree! hopefully thinking... but a good target to aim for! (it is achievable if we get something out of the next 2 games IMO) mind you if we win 3 draw 2 and have 21 points (i think this would represent a pretty average perfomance over the next few games) and then spend in January... we should hopefully be safe by early Spring - burleny and maybe QPR will be virtually down by April too
i'd take 30 points at the end of 2014 - not sure where that would place us - but 6 wins 2 draws till then?
potential wins: QPR, west ham, burnley, palace, wba, sunderland
potential draws: any of the others
team has more balance now then ive seen in a while (assuming players stay fit):
Guzan
Hutton Vlaar Okore Sissokho
Sanchez
Delph Westwood
N'Zogbia Grealish
Benteke
I think we're stronger and more balanced than last season... I think Burnley and Crystal Palace (after yesterdays news - their squad is terrible if you look at it - Pulis was a miracle worker) are very likely to go down. West Brom, Leicester, Southampton will struggle IMO... we'll finish ahead of one of those if our first 11 stays largey fit
