One way to do that is improve our bench. Our replacement striker has score something like 2 in 45 or something - so it’s just a thought, maybe we need to upgrade going forward, regardless of Wes coming back.

Some really strange people on this chat who like to call out Dougie for criticism. To me he is our second most important outfield player behind Jack. The guy is a star. He is never gunna be a stat machine that isn’t his role. People get caught up in this world of stats he’s a DCM. Personally I though Mginn has been poor last two games, Dougie covers an insane amount of ground, always nipping at opposition players and crucially is comfortable on the ball. He likes to move it forward and fast where possible. His alternative is Nakamba who has an awful first touch and it’s like a hot potato. Dougie can find a pass and set up play. Our goal he gets a quick switch on and dosent look to go home. He does a lot of the donkey work. But because not assist king, or wins every header people say the game passes him by Please don’t be naive. He is the glue that keeps us together. I would go as far as to say it was his marshalling in front of the back four after LD that was KEY in our improved defensive displays and led to safety. Don’t mug yaself off people with this nonsense that the game is passing him by

I’m proud of smith tonight, didn’t revert back to a Trez substitute. Tried to keep us attacking. Clearly dosent trust our bench. We were poor today, however we have a decent first 11, improve our bench and this team is going places.

Why do we not have Louis Barry on the bench. We have 9 subs he should at least be on bench. 5 mins to finish rather trust his pace and finishing over Davies.

Disagree, the league is very poor this year. Forget that we only stayed up by a point you have to reset our goals based on where we our half way through the season. We have two game in hand on a lot of teams. We have a team that has proven it can mix with anyone, saying finishing top 10 would be fantastic simply isn’t true. Fortunately our team is building real belief and a winning mentality and I can assure you if we finished 11 many of them would be very very dissapointed.

Unbelievable talent

The whole purpose of being a fan is to live with hope and excitement, that’s ultimately the reason we support our team. If people aren’t secretly allowing themselves to dream of top4 right now then what’s the point of being a fan. Even if it’s short lived surely everyone must have it somewhere in their minds. Navigate the next 3 games well and it’s certainly on.

It would be such a good story if Wes could get fit and be the guy who helps fire us to Europe. The fact he’s not likely to be back till March is frustrating

Everyone seems to bang on about his ability stating his defensive work/interceptions, this isn’t good enough if we want to kick on. Could stick Elmo there and be as near on effective. When I look at wingers the first stats I’m looking at certainly aren’t their defensive ones.

It would never happen but I honestly think if we had Giroud in our squad we would be serious top 4 candidates. The amount of crosses we put into the box and his nack for goals would be huge. If we are struggling after 60 mins him off the bench would be massive. He’s exactly the type of player I feel would help us. Watkins is likely to need some rest at some point

Let’s not get carried away ... I would hardly say Trez has been GREAT. He’s been ok..not great. And why wouldn’t you want to upgrade on a player if we had a genuine chance to push for top4. In truth the way the league is with Covid and no fans coupled with our excellent form I’m starting to think we may not get a better chance to break into the top 4, so if there’s the slightest chance we can upgrade our squad I’m all for it.

A quality loan signing for a striker trying to regain a national team place ahead of the Euros sounds ideal to me.
