Because I want the best for Aston Villa. No player nor coach nor management is bigger than Villa. I am not sentimental about the people at Villa, if they are not good enough they need to be replaced. I am not saying Smith is not good enough, but he needs to prove himself. If it is decided by CP and NSWE that he is not good enough then he should be replaced. I really just don't buy into this idea of because he got us promoted and kept us up we should not question his ability to bring us to the next level

I like Smith and as you highlight we have had some great times with him. However, there are a number of things that still concern me with Smith. I think Smith was exactly the right appointment at the right time but I can see his limitations and his lack of experience. I am worried he may not be able to take us to the next level. I hope he can but a number of things Smith does concern me. Maybe he will develop as a Head Coach and he will improve himself. Although Smith has done well, who is to say a different manager / coach would not have done better?

Good post, plus we have Sanson to come into the team, he is effectively a new signing. Maybe we are better off sticking with the players we have for this season and assessing what to do next summer.

We have all the amortised costs we have built up to pay this season too which count towards FFP. It may sound great that we can take in 100m and spending 100m now will 'only' cost us 20m/25m a year. But we have last year's 25m to pay this year too and we have the 30m odd from the previous year to pay this year too. That's 75m for this season we already have to pay. We lost 99.2m in '19/20 and are only permitted to lose 105m over the P&S accounting period. Yes, I believe there is money to spend but the amount will be limited

Spurs paid £54m and he’s under contract until 2025. Cracking player but Levy will want the moon on a stick for him. Sky reporting that he would probably be available for about 50m.

Thx for posting, some good analysis there. My view on JWP (without the analysis) is that he would not improve our team other than for set pieces and as such we should not buy him. I would prefer a better player on the ball. But that is just my opinion, I could be wrong and I will support him if he becomes one of ours

If Dean did say 'No' and AVFC has edited the 'No' out of the transcript of the interview then I think that would suggest that we are definitely going to try to sign at least another player

If it isn't then we are looking at a return to the Championship and I expect Smith would be replaced

I don't think Young should be replacing Targett. He is too old for a starting role. Yes, Tragett had a poor game against Watford but he wasn't match fit and it showed. He was very good last season and I expect his form will return as his fitness and match readiness improves

If the manager had said that then I would take notice of it, but he didn't say that so it would not surprise me if we made more signings.

I think Buendia was 33m and rising to 38m with addons. If we have to pay the full 38m then I think we will all be happy as he and Villa will have it their targets

They would but would Villa fans be happy with potential, the expectation is for more of an immediate success. Our u23s already look like they have unbelievable potential. If we get midfielders in that do not improve the 1st 11 this season then the fans will not be happy campers
