    Not sure you can call a window in which we got Boubacar Kamara on a free “horrendous”. Can’t stand this “opportunity to press on” bollocks either. The players that fit the system and who are worth getting are either available or not. If they’re not, they ain’t coming and we wait until they are.

    You clearly haven't been watching them this season. They. do. not. concede. And they have the third highest team xG overall for the 20 games so far which suggests they have been very good offensively as well. They are not going anywhere, as much as it pains me to say.

    Newcastle are a top 6 side. It would take a catastrophic drop in form from them to finish outside it now. Botman, Schar and Pope have been utterly outstanding. I do take your point though, the players that got them there were signed when they were far outside the position they are now in.

    We had a bid turned down for Merino mate, it was a dream that you thought we signed him. Moreno the fullback however, happy with the signing.

    The premier league is littered with £70-90m players who have been dreadful. Pepe, Pogba, Antony (early days I realise), Lukaku (twice), Sancho, Maguire. You take a gamble even at that price point.

    The similarities between them right at this moment and us when we were doomed to go down are really really stark. Good manager leaves on eve of new season a few years back (MoN/Ancellotti) and never properly replaced. Only just avoid relegation the season before after consecutive years of decay. Sell star striker in run up to season. Sporadic and pattern less recruitment in the summer on a shoestring budget. Don't properly replace star striker who kept them up last season. Owner loses touch and alienates the fan base. Sack manager halfway through the season and will inevitably make a horrible decision on a replacement as there are no good managers who will touch with a bargepole. Losing mentality endemic within the team. They are down, make no bones about it.
