  1. I think Callum Wilson is a very able Premier League goalscorer who’s just had a bit of an underwhelming season in a struggling Bournemouth team. It could be that a new environment and change of scene will revitalise him.
  2. It’s a little odd how Josh King seems to get overlooked. Very decent player in the Premier League who has scored many important goals for Bournemouth. He steps up to the plate more often than Callum Wilson.
  3. I’m watching Swansea Vs Brentford, the first time I’ve watched Benrahma for a full game. To be honest I’m not convinced on this game, seems to me to lack conviction.
  4. Absolutely feckin delighted for the manager, properly chuffed. I’m certain that staying up at this time will prove pivotal in this football clubs future prospects. I’m really content that we appear to have a man at helm who has learnt some lessons during lockdown, has identified where points were slipping away, and best of all he is one of our own, he 100% has our best interests at heart. We fixed the problems and looked one of the better teams during the restart. We have the potential to properly progress now. As our owners said after playoff final last year, “the sky is the limit”. Now’s the time to kick on.
  5. If our owners are serious about properly competing then intent has to be shown by trying to nab one or two very decent players from clubs that might not expect it, and that from the outside might not appear obtainable. Go and try to unsettle Jimenez at Wolves, have a go at Ward-Prowse at Southampton, maybe even have a pop at a Leicester player or two, a Harvey Barnes or Ndidi. They might not come off but we should be looking to chip away at those at a level above us, it’s how Man City approached the task when they nicked Barry, Milner, and then Delph away from us. When players currently at clubs above our level aren’t attracting top 4 clubs then we should now be positioning ourselves as the next best thing, just like Man City did nearly a decade ago. Pay the salaries and get two or three really good Premier League players in that the top 4 won’t go for, make sure we’re the next best option in terms of salary and ambition. Speculate to accumulate.
  6. Order of priority; LW, RW, CF, CM, RB. If we had a decent bit of money this window then those are my 5 positions to fill. I’d definitely look to weaken Southampton by bidding for Ward-Prowse, and I’d be very interested in getting Callum Wilson from Bournemouth. If Dean Smith can persuade Benrahma to come then that should be an upgrade, and maybe Sarr from Watford on the other side would be good. It’s great to play football manager, isn’t it?!
  7. The Premier League is the place to be @Sulberto21 Aston Villa in the Premier League, or Leipzig somewhere else? Villa every time!
  8. Goalkeeper, you say? I’d go for Peter Gulacsi at Leipzig. For me he’s absolutely another level, and we could get him.
  9. I simply love Keinan Davis desire, added to his really good hold up play that brings team members into the game. Yes his finishing isn’t good at all, but I’d keep him in my squad every day of the week. If any CF has to be moved on then it’s going to have to be Samatta, who unfortunately just looks completely limp after an encouraging start. Well played Keinan.
  10. Thought we were poor, but we’re Premier League for at least another season. Let’s see what the ambition is from here. I’m hopeful.
  11. Got away with it 1st half, if we don’t snap out of the mindset we currently seem to be in we’ll concede. This performance won’t be enough over the whole game, we must start competing upfront and in midfield. Dropping back and inviting pressure, with no outlet, is a recipe for defeat. I’m praying they snap out of this and get back to an Arsenal type performance.
  12. Hahahahaha. A quick reminder that Glenn Whelan has been plying his trade at Fleetwood. FLEETWOOD. Jedinak retired. Please stop making yourself look a complete bellend!
  13. Name the Villa team that won the Playoff final in 2019, including the subs. Then list who was left from that team once loans returned and 34+yr old players out of contract were released. Off the top of my head I can give you Tuanzebe, Hutton, Jedinak, Whelan, Adomah, Abraham. That’s six outfield 1st team players from last season. You generally spout absolute drivel, but you’ve exceeded even your own very low standard on this occasion. It’s probably not even worth pointing out that two of our summer signings were players that were already here on loan.
  14. This is Premier League football we’re talking about, anything is possible when £££s are put in front of you. I agree that it’s a small chance he wouldn’t take the opportunity to go back to a champions league club, but you just don’t know what’s happening in the background. It’s not even a up for discussion if we end up in the championship!
  15. If Douglas Luiz wants to stay, he’ll stay. It’s up to Villa to make him want to stay. Regardless of any contractual clause, if the player doesn’t want to join another club then he stays where he is, he’ll refuse any offer made to him. City could trigger the clause to find out that the player is loving life at Villa and refuses to even negotiate about a return. A few things would need to happen for that to have any chance of coming to fruition; (1) Villa would have to be a Premier League club. (2) Jack Grealish would have to be retained at the club. (3) Douglas Luiz would need to see evidence that Villa were impatient to join the upper echelons of the league. Which would mean buying quality rather than selling it (see point 2). If those three points can be met then there is a chance. If not then we’re looking at yet another summer of rebuild.
  16. The two greatest threats to our survival are West Ham and Bournemouth. I’ve got Bournemouth to beat Everton, and West Ham will be salivating at the prospect of sending a rival down. Make no mistake, Villa are more of a future threat to West Ham than any of the other relegation contenders or promoted clubs coming up, we’re by far the biggest club in that clutch of clubs. It’ll be good business for West Ham to relegate Villa, and we shouldn’t forget that. Bowen and Antonio have been their sparks and will need to be shut down. We must put in a further improvement on our Arsenal display, which should always be the aim anyway.
  17. I’d much rather Chris Smalling on a free than Lallana. Brings as much, if not more, experience than Lallana and doesnt require a team of medics around him. Lallana also doesn’t strike me as much of a leader, not particularly vocal. It’s a No from me on Lallana.
  18. Exactly this. Sold Coutinho and bought Allison and VanDijk. Great business that made them title winners. If Grealish is to leave then we have to maximise the fee and then use it well for recruitment. It’s impossible to replace players like Grealish, don’t even try, and so you alter the way you’ve been playing and buy 2 or 3 good players to fit in. No good reason why we can’t improve as a team should Grealish move on. We evolve. There’s always a new hero. Yorkie left, Dion and Merson arrived. The king is dead, long live the new king! Embrace the future opportunities.
  19. I think that if we manage to stay up then our owners will give the green light to another summer spending spree, numbers that would match last summer’s spending, probably exceed it. The difference this time is that we need maybe 4-5 players instead of 12-13. So spending can be focused on quality rather than quantity. To be honest I hope you boys get promotion at West Broms expense, it’d be great to see Brentford in the Premier League in your new stadium.
  20. Not many mention him, but I’d love to see James Ward-Prowse in the team, for me he’d be a big upgrade on Hourihane. Can play 2 or 3 positions in midfield and has a wicked set piece. In the wider areas it’d be nice to see Sarr and Benrahma come in as upgrades on Trezeguet and ElGhazi. I think we could do with an experienced CB, and as mentioned above I think Smalling could do a job, and I think he’s out of contract this summer? That’d be a really good free transfer. Id imagine we wouldn’t get much change from £100m for the first 3 I mention above. I am factoring in Grealish leaving, and our owners giving the manager all of the proceeds from Grealish sale and adding the same again. And of course we need to win at West Ham, or we’re talking about Wycombe Wanderers and getting very depressed!
  21. You’d heard of Nuno before he rocked up at Wolves then, yeah? Because I’ve never spoken with anyone who knew the bloke before he landed at Wolves. As for Bielsa, he was known as something of a loose cannon, and was undoubtedly a gamble by Leeds. It paid off, well done. But neither of those two can be acclaimed as “top managers” when they arrived at Wolves & Leeds. Top managers do not choose championship clubs to manage. Championship Clubs have to find the next “Top Manager”.
  22. Deeney being out would be a real bonus, he’s really the heartbeat of that team.
  23. I’ll enjoy watching the Man City vs Watford game, I only get emotionally invested with Villa games! So I can watch the Watford game quite relaxed. I’m interested to see the affect on Watford from the Pearson sacking. I just can’t see how it can help Watford in any way.
  24. The only hope of closing the goal difference gap to Watford lays with Man City giving Watford a bit of a seeing to. A 4 goal winning margin for Man City this evening would be just the job! It’ll be interesting to see how Pearson’s sacking affects the Watford team, will they be like a bird released? I don’t expect to see that. They were as good as gone before Pearson rocked up, and they’ve looked to me to have the necessary fight in them to get results when really needed under Pearson. We’ll see very soon if it was an inspired sacking. I still think we need to win both our remaining games.
  25. We’d need to win both our remaining games, simple as that.
