  1. Houllier played a weakened team against Man City away Bit of a difference than Bristol Rovers away me thinks ...
  2. 7th July 2011 : Aston Villa: Stewart Downing is NOT for sale - Alex McLeish http://www.birminghammail.net/birmingham-sport/aston-villa-fc/aston-villa-news/2011/07/07/aston-villa-stewart-downing-is-not-for-sale-alex-mcleish-97319-29010346/ 15th July 2011 : Stewart Downing signs for Liverpool
  3. Pat Murphy mentioned the Scott Parker thing :- http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15999771.stm Frankly it is very believable given what happened and knowing what our board are like given some of the terrible decisions they have made in past 18 months.
  4. Was widely reported Mark Hughes was deliberately ignored in summer because Lerner is good friend of Al-Fayed's.
  5. The club really did make McLeish look a prat there in regards to Downing. McLeish's denial and comments in that article is from the 7th July. Downing was sold on the 15th July! Literally just a week later he had gone!
  6. It actually is dissimilar to ours - we have one most prolific strikers in league which they sold us whos wasted under McLeish - which makes it even more embarrasing for us- MON has much worse squad than we do at Sunderland - they actually have big injury list at moment , they have a pretty shit squad compared to ours - AND yet within 6 games they are already above us already and MON has won 4 games in 6 as McCrap has managed 5 in 20 all season . It is utterly embarrasing . Our board are a joke.
  7. Erm.. you obviously did not watch the Swansea game then. We had one proper shot on target :- http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/match/2012/jan/02/aston-villa-v-swansea I wont bother with rest of your nonsense as must be related to someone on the board or something. But anyhow for its worth most ppl were very happy with Chelsea result and even thought might be a turning point but no McLeish outdid himself yet again with useless management in Swansea game making crap decision with subs yet again. 2-0 down 20 mins to go he takes off Ireland and leaves what are basically 5 defenders on pitch. Joke. Compared to rest of season the Chelsea game looks more like a freak one-off rather than the awful dirge curmudgeon crap that fans have to endure under this manager who has a very poor previous failed Premiership record. Incidentally we have one more point than the Blues did this time last season. 5 wins in 20 is shit. Fact.
  8. I think we will be OK concerning relegation even under incompetent McLeish. Dread the game still tho.
  9. MON is undeniably a good manager. PPl can nitpick all they want and yes he had some faults with us but he is undeniably a good manager. Sunderland fans must be well chuffed. Theyve got lot of injuries and pretty crap squad and already won 4 out of 6 and are above us in league already. MON will haunt this Villa board - lets face it - they **** up bigtime- especially if Parker during Milner thing is true. Meanwhile we have McLeish won 5 in 20 ...bah...its like a bad dream.
  10. Sometimes ppl like ppl they can walk all over. Not that im saying that is the case here.
  11. Unfortunately it won't work like that will it. He was given the job 6 months ago on a bumber 3 year contract. Lerner and Faulkner for **** knows what reason thought he was the right man then and will think he is the right man now. What we could do with is a spate of sackings in the Premiership to help plant the seed and make his sacking look more justified. It doesn't help that managers who have been in their jobs sometime, or at least way longer than McLeish, who are struggling in Kean, Coyle, McCarthy haven't and don't appear in iminent danger of being sacked. The media also don't seem to be reporting that McLeish is under pressure. I would be amazed if McLeish goes before the end of the season and expect him to still be here in 18 months. I would love to be pleasantly surprised though. Of course that then means Dumb and Dumber having to find another manager and as we all know they are **** clueless at that. Think youre right. Just imagine 3 years of McLeish tho. Oof.
  12. A good manager is the most important appointment at any club I do not know why Lerner and co do not realise this. To be below Sunderland ALREADY is frankly utterly embarrasing and their should be plenty of very red faces at our club. Dreaded this rather predictably happening. But even i didn't think he'd have them above us as soon as the 3rd of January!! FFS
  13. I'll worry about league positions at the end of the season. Should we just give up now and appoint Megson? He has better managerial experience. He kept Bolton up - something McLeish couldn't do with more money at Birmingham.
  14. Its pretty relevant given how Sunderland are now already above us in the league and we are down to 13th . Well expect Fulham to overtake us soon .
  15. You're right he picked between Steve McLaren and McLeish.
  16. MON with a poor Sunderland squad with crap strikers = 4 wins in 6 McLeish with a decnt squad with one most prolific Prem strikers ever = 5 wins in 20
  17. deary me If Sunderland win they are above us already ridiculous
  18. Because Bent has a proven Premiership record at every other club hes been at his whole career including with us last season. McLeish does not.
  19. So let me get this straight? Your happy with our striker, who takes 70,000 of our money each week not being arsed, based on the fact that things arent quite going his way? "Not being arsed"? Why do ppl spout stuff like this? It is utter rubbish
