    Refs are now refusing to make decisions. He expects if it’s a pen VAR will give it. No VAR, no pen!

    It’s about 3 fouls. A push in the back and he’s caught his foot. I don’t blame the ref. But the assistant about 3 inches from it should be able to see that. I get Bailey’s reaction. He shouldn’t have done it but I get it.

    I think I’d be happy to let him go to Italy on loan and let him cut his teeth there for 6 months. We’d need a replacement but I don’t think that’s a major issue.

    It’s a pity he didn’t make the grade at Villa but I wish him well. I’d have liked to see him in some of the recent RoI squads. Hopefully he gets a good run of games for Boro and shows why he can do.

    The great thing about Monchi/ Unai is they will pick players that work in the system. Not necessarily players we know. If they can find another Moreno type for right back we will be very happy.

    Lucky to get the win but really deserved it. We should have been 3-4 up by the time they scored their second. I don’t like to see penalties given for those types of fouls but they are so fair enough. Doug was the calmest man in the ground…. until it hit the bar! UTV Level top of the league.

    I think it’s about time we face facts. Diego isn’t good enough at this level. He’s been bullied by a donkey all game and that’s the result.

    I think this Jan window will be quite like the last. Maybe a signing or two in the 10-25m band. Maybe a decent loan signing.

    I’ve stayed off here for the last day just to allow myself to calm down. All I’ll say is this, no one will be more angry/ disappointed with that second half than Emery. Every setback under Unai we have seen a positive reaction. I expect to see another against Burnley.

    To be honest I’m not that worried here. They stayed with Chelsea at the weekend too. An early goal in the second half and we’ll run 3-4 in.

    This ref will book no one for 50-60mins and then will wonder why it will go out of control in the last half hour. The usual standard we have all come to expect.

    I still can’t understand how anyone can look at that “tackle” on Watkins and not think it’s a pen! But somehow three trained refs see nothing wrong with it.

    That is such a dynamic front 4 in JJ, Bailey, Diaby and Watkins. I think both McGinn and Luiz will need to be disciplined and both Cash and Digne are going to have to temper their forward running. Big night for Lenglet!

    I hope the team and manager is calmer than me. I’ve just finished my fourth 6.2% IPA and I’m feeling a little sleepy! I just hope we get an early goal or six to settle my nerves!
