I think Howe is a very fair comparison. Not only is he hitting with his transfers he is also getting much more out of the pre existing players. Whereas Gerrard is moaning about more signings instead of focusing getting more out of what he's got.

My main worry is if we get those so called "easy" games out of the way like the Bournemouths of the world, and we get through it in a bad shape what happens then? Gerrard had an awful record against the top half teams last season

I actually don't have many issues with Carney. Asked for more game time and a higher wage. We stood our ground and declined. He moved on to a Champions League club. He has not come out and said anything bad about the club and he was never a Villa fan to begin with. Massively disappointed to lose one hell of a talent but can't really hate on the guy. We move.

1st half was very poor but he came into life the 2nd half. Huge season for him! -
Hindsight is a beautiful thing, and a lot of people were happy with the team selection in the match thread. Balance in midfield is the main problem. It's way off. The engine room is what it is, if it isn't working it doesn't matter who your forward players are. Introducing Buendia isn't gonna magically solve this I fear. Sanson should be tried and tested but I don't know what happened there.
