  1. Mate........... I agree with you that the play offs are not going to be happening, I was also in agreement with you when you originally posted that the play offs isn't happening. I really don't want to re-post the definition of 'fact'. Its still not a fact. We are potentially 10 points off play offs. There is still 42 points to play for. Its not yet a fact, just a high possibility. Come back to me in 6 games time and then we can agree its a fact.
  2. Game Possession Shots On Target Fouls Scored Concede Swansea 47 11 5 13 W 1 0 Norwich 52 8 1 13 L 1 2 QPR 68 18 5 12 L 0 1 Bolton 60 17 3 8 W 2 0 Derby 54 21 5 10 W 3 0 Birmingham 74 12 5 9 W 4 2 Notts Forest 63 26 12 9 D 5 5 Middlesbrough 58 21 8 11 W 3 0 West Brom 48 15 7 12 D 2 2 Stoke 57 9 5 10 D 2 2 Leeds 34 10 2 12 L 2 3 Swansea 41 13 5 11 W 1 0 Preston 61 15 5 10 D 1 1 QPR 61 22 5 10 D 2 2 Wigan 51 4 0 13 L 3 0 Hull 61 18 2 14 D 2 2 Ipswich 45 23 13 14 W 2 1 Reading 43 13 3 17 D 0 0 Sheff Utd 55 12 5 11 D 3 3 Brentford 38 6 3 10 L 0 1 Our possession game didnt end with Grealish's injury, its the last 4 games that has really changed.
  3. True. When he took over we were 4 points from play offs. Now we are 7 points of and played a game more than them.
  4. This should contribute in aiding promotion unlike playing on a local park.
  5. I think the fan base is already now split on him. Like they were for a long time with Steve Bruce. You have the blind followers. You have the others that just want to see Villa do well.
  6. After the Brentford game Aston Villa have 44 points out of a possible 96. The final projected points total will currently be 63 points that is points after 46 games. Basing this off last seasons final table will put us 12th. There is still 42 points to play for giving us a maximum potential points haul of 86 points. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Since the appointment of Dean Smith the new projected points total would be 64 points that is points after 46 games. That has included (Before Smith) of 1.25 PPG from Steve Bruce and the current 1.45PPG from Smith. Using 1.45PPG over the remaining 14 games. Basing this off last seasons final table will put us 12th.
  7. In fairness your all right. Smith is doing a bang up job at little Villa and we should erect a statue in his honour at Villa. Its a good job Villa got him cause I dont want any hope or expectation in my season. Prefer to just write it off the season and next season. Wont give anyone at Villa a heart attack at winning so much this way too. League One probably is good idea too we can rebuild and push on after. Come on Villa!!
  8. No cause next seasons excuses are already ready. He needs another season for team to gel.
  9. Great so we can be the next Brentford to sit midtable.
  10. Managing Villa and being a fan of Villa is a pinnacle of ya career. Not big balls for taking the job on. Were Villa. Not a piss pot team.
  11. Honestly we all rip into Bruce but I will say I think we would be on same points if we stuck with him. When Bruce first came in he stopped the rot, got us winning an away game, season after a promotion chasing run. He stepped us up. Smith comes in the least we should expect is a step above. Minimum requirement. We stepped back to Di Matteo with the draws. Bruce was toss but we are now where we were under Xia and RDM.
  12. Sounds a proper s*** deal for Mings. Why resign for Villa with a bunch of nobodys.
  13. Wrong man for the job, just going say it. Villa is bigger than him. Cant afford to throw next season away as well by giving until oct or november.
  14. The lad I sit next to at work is a Norwich fan and he reckons it all comes down to Farke. Some very astute signings and his use of the youth players has made Norwich this good. Its a culmination of players that has clicked with youth of Cantwell, Buendia, Aarons and Lewis mixed well with the experienced pros of Krul, Vrancic, Pukki, Hernandez and Klose. Ugh even contemplating how many would get into the Villa team would be depressing. Still Grealish would out do them all!
  15. Doesnt really matter what league were in. The statement of fact is correct no matter if we are in the Premiership, Ligue One, Scottish Premiership or the Conference. Its no sleight on anyone, its just a massive generalization of the entire fan base.
  16. Same with almost every manager since O'neill. All the supporters just want us to win whoever is the manager. The manager on the other hand doesn't deliver enough of these wins. In turn every thread about our manager turns into this thread by default of sorts.
  17. Is Smith deserves time to turn Aston Villa around as he came in half way through. El Ghazi deserves time as he came to Villa at the end of the August transfer window with no preseason. First year in England, let him settle and who knows how he does next season. Supposedly the buy out clause at the end of the loan is £5M. In today's market that's worth taking, he did come out of the Ajax camp who are well known for their youngsters!
  18. Agreed. Fer is going to be 30 next season and I thought Villa were changing there strategy from signing players with no sell on value. We need more McGinn's rather than Whelan's.
  19. Against my better judgement I took HeyAnty's 1 win in 12 as bible. I do think that the Hand of Rod completely derailed us. In the grand scheme of things we all want a winning Villa side. The results have been poor and I hope for a strong run to finish the season not for promotion, cause I feel thats gone, but for some form to carry us into next season. Boxing Day was certainly a rough day, even the Berocca before bed didn't help and the day after was even worse.
  20. 1 win in 12 isn't even mediocre. Its Ipswich form, slightly humorous that our 1 win was against Ipswich too.
  21. Yeah, like there's a chance you can marry Cheryl Cole (Or whatever she is now known as)
  22. After the Sheffield United game Aston Villa have 44 points out of a possible 93. The final projected points total will currently be 65 points that is points after 46 games. Basing this off last seasons final table will put us 12th. There is still 45 points to play for giving us a maximum potential points haul of 89 points. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Since the appointment of Dean Smith the new projected points total would be 67 points that is points after 46 games. That has included (Before Smith) of 1.25 PPG from Steve Bruce and the current 1.52PPG from Smith. Using 1.52PPG over the remaining 15 games. Basing this off last seasons final table will put us 12th. Thought for the day: Penny for your draw's.
  23. This is grossly unfair to a large fanbase. I want Dean Smith to do well, not because hes a Villa fan but because hes the Villa manager. I have zero thoughts of sentiment to the fact hes also a Villa fan. The crux of the matter is hes failing. The reasons or excuses we give him cause everyone wants him to do well. I feel are more mythical than fact. An unbalanced team but we have enough for all positions. If the seniors cant do it play a youth player. It just might work out and if it doesnt the villa fans will give our young kids more of a chance. It worked for Leeds and Norwich. Losing our best player. Agree we have but the replacement isnt someone from the conference league though is it? Also WBA lost Barnes there doing ok better with him but they have championship level players to come in. Poor ageing squad. Play the damn youth players then. Right now we are relegation form. Thats the tactics not the players. Next season we have 3 teams relegated with a 70million parachute payment plus last seasons team that were relegated that will still be in the championship. There is no plan B. There is no tweaks to a formation mid game. The subs are all like for like. Albert Einstein definition of crazy. Are we waiting for it to click in some point month the rnext 18 months.
  24. I have waited until the morning after to have time to reflect and calm down. Last nights game is becoming the norm. Villa Park is not the fortress we need it be. Its not cause of the fans, the fans are a reflection of whats happening on the pitch. Villa arent a bad side. Were not really even unbalanced as the excuses were making are full of holes. Dean Smith has lost his top player but we should still compete and were not. Last nights tactics or lack of were a duplication of the poor decisions at Wigan. We have no plan b. We dont change formation half way through a game. Dean Smith albeit a villa fan. Time isnt going be your friend. What were seeing on the pitch is the result of the weeks coaching. Were not looking any better. Last night was a smash and grab we didnt deserve. Side note Mings was class. Even wern we were getting tonked 3 0.
  25. We need play 5 0 5 formation. The midfield is bypassed with long balls anyway.
