Are you speaking for Canada and the US as well? If not then I think I do have a point. We don't run our hospitals with tonnes of extra capacity for obvious reasons.

And if we are community minded then here is a reason in general to take vaccines. What I don't understand is this so-called fearmongering. Were hospitals overwhelmed or not? Is it a concern or not? The UK's early response was particularly ineffective around the winter of 20/21.

Fair enough ... but having a whackload of people in hospital with COVID putting a strain on other illnesses and emergencies is not desirable, is it? Here's a nice link giving hospitalizations per million for Canada, the US and the UK. You can add and subtract as you wish. UK has not reported any data in the last while. Canada has a relatively high number at the moment. Is it an unwanted strain of the health system? Your Grandad sadly was taking up room that might have saved somebody else's (non-COVID related) life. Again, it's not about you or even your Grandad, it's about the system/community.

Take polio as an example ... it's on the verge of eradication. The chances of getting it in the West are minimal. We do have some secondary infections from weakened versions of the vaccine. But the wild poliovirus is almost gone, just in the Afghan/Pakistan region. The problem is if we stop vaccinating in the West it can come back all too easily.

No one should be made to feel bad about anything. Not even about being a Blues' supporter. That you decided not to continue is fine. Just take a look at your underlying motivations and how do they comport with your adopted doctrines.

Born in Toronto ... grew up in Warwickshire ... a little place called Kings Heath. Seen Villa play four times ... twice at Villa Park, once at the Sty and once at Carrow Road. Since 1980, lived elsewhere, mainly Canada. Don't get to many home games ... but would like to watch Villa at Vila Park once more before I die.
