  1. Maybe tweak the shield shape then? How would that look with our Lerner shield?
  2. Luckily there are a good few villa fans here in Ireland. I know 10 or 11 lads who are similar age to me and are Villa. I have been to Villa Park about 10 times, not so much in recent years. The one thing with me is I wouldn't have the same feelings around games with Small Heath, WBA, Wolves etc as I am not from Birmingham. I know they are huge games, and I Klknow these teams raise their games against us, but I still see them much ad I would a Blackburn, a Bolton or a Burnley etc. Over the 30 odd years I have followed villa, the grudge games for me would be against clubs I see as similar to ours - Spurs, Newcastle, Everton. League of Ireland is weak here as GAA sports are bigger. I hot into Villa through Paul McGrath, Steve Staunton, Ray Houghton and Andy Townsend. I also loved the name and colours. Villa Park always looked beautiful on tv! My brother is more into Spanish football.
  3. It is basically a return to the classic Aston Villa crest before we started messing with it in the 1960s. I was hoping for this sort of thing first time around. Simple, elegant, classic and timeless.
  4. I always thought you would get less head colds as you get older and build up immunity? I have to say, since turning 30, and especially the past 6 or 7 years, I have been getting 3 or 4 really bad head colds (that morph into sinus infections) each year. They are more severe too - proper leave me with some bad symptoms. When I was a kid, teenager or even into my 20s I would hardly ever notice getting a head cold, it would just brush off after a day or two. For example, I had one in late August and have another one now. Anybody else have this?
  5. My ranking of villa badges 1. The one that was there until the late 1960s (claret lion on a blue shield) 2. The round badge we had 1970s- 1992 3. The 90s crest with prepared underneath 4. The late 90s/early 00s upgrade of the 90s crest to a shield. 5. The post 2016 upgraded Lerner badge 6. The original Lerner badge, 2007-2016 Just Don't give us more yellow than either blue or claret.
  6. I wonder how much Money we wasted in the 2022 consultation. I wonder will they again ignore this one if they dislike the fan opinion.
  7. Hear hear. I cannot stand him. I would not drop Ramsey, McGinn, Diaby, Watkins for him in any case.
  8. That Emery has us on 5 wins from 7 with several key players being injured since week one is bloody marvelous.
  9. Between this sort of thing, and the comments mid week, some of the fans need to give their heads a wobble.
  10. He is the real deal. Seriously, can we please not over react next time he plays our second string in the cups? For me, today was always a much bigger game than the league cup 3rd round.
  11. Imagine previous manager having to cope with Mings, Buendia, Ramsey and Morena out of the side all at once? We'd be hovering the relegation zone with Gerrard, Bruce, Lambert, Sherwood and, sorry to say Deano, if they had an injury crisis like that. I know cups have been a disappointing aspect but we aren't yet one year in and the improvement in the league is far more important than a cup run right now. When we establish as a top 7 side we can then look at further developments. Look at clubs who have been established top 6 for a long time and yet struggle to put cup runs together.
  12. Or, it could put is in a strong position. This castore business has generated a stir so there will be mileage in being the next brand we do business with. We went from a crap supplier to one we know we can rely on to get the job done??
  13. You have to send those to the club. I mean it.
  14. Would love Reebok ( I knoe, I know- not these days) or umbro. Don't think Adidas would suit us, never thought they were a fit for villa. So glad we are binning Castore.
  15. Cannot underestimate the impact of our injuries. Mings is an enormous hole in our spine.
  16. I think the new lion is better (face it left) and out Aston Villa underneath.
  17. I see our historical badge as the one on the 1957 FA Cup final shirt.
  18. If it is the stand alone lion can we at least have the name Aston Villa under it. Is that too much to ask?
  19. That is because our own club (Heck) decreed in Thr summer that the new badge was only for the kits and nothing else with the old badge being kept for everything else.
  20. There was a big build up last year around the new badge and talk of a big launch for the final home game. Then Heck was revealed to be joining and all went quiet. It still astounds me that one person, with no previous connection to the keague or the club, can at the stroke of a pen say 'no, I don't like it so this 150 year old institution isn't getting it'. To be honest, given all the rules nowadays about consultations etc I am surprised the club aren't getting more heat for this u-turn.
  21. Bin Castore off. Unbelievable in this day and age.
  22. They got out relatively unscathed in 2022 in that there was a clear preference for one option (most would have preferred it with the lion facing left). Since then they have made a mess of it. We have two badges now and they are Opening the whole can of worms, again, for very spurious reasons. Even if you disagree with my take you have to admit they are treating fans like idiots- the last consultation was clearly about finding a 'permanent' badge yet they are spinning it retrospectively as a kit only one season wonder. Come on! Such nonsense. Just wish they would be more honest.
