  1. Think for a second. Who was the last Villa manager who went onto good things AFTER he left Villa.
  2. If he turns us down that'd be epic. Would be a very telling sign. TBH I don't mind Martinez as I don't really expect Villa to aim for top 4 any time soon. He's a decent manager.
  3. No he hasn't really. A couple of cups in Israel 10+ years ago don't impress.
  4. True. Fans may not know what's right for a club, and I by no means am advocating for the board to listen to the fans when making a decision, but fans most definitely know what is wrong for their club.
  5. Voted for Moyes, even though I'd prefer Ancelotti, just don't believe we stand a chance to get him. Hughes would be fine too, not inspiring but he'll probably do a good, steady job here, which I believe is what Lerner is looking for. I highly doubt there are some super aggressive and ambitions plans for the near future anyway.
  6. All modern day footballers are like that and I don't think any fan has the moral ground to accuse them for being the way they are, seriously. Just like a club has no problem releasing or selling a player who hasn't fulfilled the expectations, so do the players who feel are being dragged back by a club underachieving have the right not to sign an extension and/or ask for a transfer. Don't expect loyalty and sentiment when it comes to business, there's no room for that and the very few exceptions only prove the rule.
  7. LOL. very good. you write Houllier post-match speeches don't you I would have applied for the job, but I'm unable t produce the diarrhea coming our of his mouth if I tried.
  8. First of all, you play against a bigger team than ours. Sorry, Bolton Wanderers at the moment, and this is our challenge for the future, are above us.It would have been difficult. I knew they would put their best side out and their squad is better than ours, but look at the figures. Look at the players they have.I’m sorry, perhaps they should have warned the fans before, but it is not as if we were playing the youth team. There was risk; yes, we took a risk, but these are good players.
  9. When I saw him in the starting line-up I thought Wigan would attack him and that N'Zogbia would tear him apart. Well, I was wrong, the lad did well and having in mind he hasn't played at nearly the same level, not even in the championship, he was about as solid as they come on a debut. Good luck to him and hope to see him more often in the team in the future.
  10. Great bit of business, whatever the price tag we need a goalscorer and we shouldn't forget we're yet to play the games to get us out of the relegation struggle. Bent will help and more importnantly, it's a sign of ambition. It also shows that money talks more than league position, if this was ever in question.
  11. lol totally behind for now Edit : eh , Briny beat me to it
  12. You gotta give credit to the club PR, though, as more than a third of the people who voted still think MON is the reason for our downfall despite him being away for more than 4 months. I could understand it if people say he should bear part of the responsibility, he does, however more than all of the people who are still at the club? This is beyond gullible and naive. Won't be surprised if next season there are quite a lot of people still blaming him for not being able to get back to the upper part of the table, provided we stay up, of course. That, is one well oiled PR department. Respect.
  13. People having different opinions on an internet message board shocker!
  14. Tiring indeed when belittling our club is the way to support the manager and arguing against the 8th-12th label is apparently not showing support.
  15. My point is that having an average of 8.4 in the way you've calculated it, doesn't necessarily mean you're 8th/9th. Simple maths. For reference, while our average is 8.4, Tottenham's is 9.4 and Everton's is 11.4. This doesn't make these 3 teams 8th, 9th and 11th, get it?
  16. .... but in the history of the Premier League, 8-12th is a fairly accurate average. Seriously? Check your facts. Not this argument again.. 92/93: 2nd 93/94: 10th 94/95: 18th 95/96: 4th 96/97: 5th 97/98: 7th 98/99: 6th 99/00: 6th 00/01: 8th 01/02: 8th 02/03: 16th 03/04: 6th 04/05: 10th 05/06: 16th 06/07: 11th 07/08: 6th 08/09: 6th 09/10: 6th I said "fairly accurate" which, in my opinion, it is. If you average it out properly it will probably give you a result of something like 6th-10th (I haven't worked it out, I'm just guessing). I don't believe this is the correct way to judge the average position, the all time premier league table is a better reflector IMO. Case in point, Chelsea, if you're calculating their average positions during the premier league you'd get 5.17, yet they're clearly not the 5th/6th when it comes to the success they've had during that period.

  18. Truth is, if he's lost the dressing room, there'd be only one way for him and the club. Now, obviously, we don't know if he has, but we can't bury our heads in the sand and not see the indications. If it's true, then I don't see how and why the players would do their best to beat West Brom and Wigan to save him, they simply wouldn't play for him.
  19. Would be a good squad player - however i said that about Steve Sidwell Would back-up Albrighton nicely for cup games, yep.
  20. No shots on goal, 0 chances, totally outplayed and outhustled by sha at Villa Park, thought these days were over.
