  1. Does droll negative football involve Baker passing back to Guzan ironically?
  2. C'mon the Ellison link is pure fantasy. Completely ridiculous. People are losing their minds if they think there's a hint of truth to it I have very good sources which contradict what you said there. I'm not saying it'll definitely 100% be him taking over...but I know beyond reasonable doubt that he is/was interested. (I put in a previous post a while back..i'm not an attentions seeking childish 'ITK'..just passing on information I've been told from someone I've no reason to doubt whatsoever.) Well he's interested in buying that NBA team so he is on the lookout to buy some kind of sports feam Come on Larry get your ass over the atlantic Yes, he's currently in the process of spending a billion dollars (combined with others, but still) on an NBA franchise. There are a thousand reasons why he, especially, won't buy us, but that one is the one that makes it truly impossible.
  3. Very thorough! A nice read, thank you. Much though I enjoy mocking Spurs - and I do - they're a big club and they generally play pretty entertaining football. They have to be favourites for this one, but we could sneak it. Mostly thankful it doesn't matter!
  4. There's an important distinction, though, between 'wanting to sell the club' (I don't see how anyone can deny this is true at this point) and 'having a buyer ready' (this may not be true at all). We could have more years of us being stuck with Randy, and Randy being stuck with us, still to come.
  5. Are you going to address the bit where you said that having a divorce meant you're a failure as a person? Or are we going to pretend that that never happened?
  6. So hard not to post on poster in response to rubbish like this Why? Has he been a good signing? Has he contributed to Aston villa being successful? Yes, he did, not one hour ago! Maybe just leave slagging him off in such personal terms until one sleep is over?
  7. First of all, I think that this claim that having a failed marriage means you're a failure as a person is a fairly provocative one in a society where 50% of marriages end in divorce. In general, it was just ludicrously out of proportion. He spent a lot of money on the club, then was unable or unwilling to continue spending vast amounts of his own money. He wrote off £90 million owed to him earlier this season, as I understand it. I'm not saying he's a great owner - he isn't - but he's not even the worst in the current PL.
  8. Technically no, but it would take a ridiculous goal difference swing. I really can't see Norwich smashing Chelsea and Arsenal 5-0. But we could easily get smashed 4-1 twice or even 5-0 ! Even then Norwich would have to beat Chelsea and Arsenal 4-0. And results involving Albion, Hull and Sunderland would all have to go against us as well.
  9. What if your aunt was your uncle?
  10. He's a lot better than Weimann. Don't agree really. He certainly plays in a better team, which makes him look better, but I'm honestly not sure he's really all that. Players who leave United often go on to pretty average Premier League careers afterwards, in which they suddenly don't look all that great. O'Shea, Bardsley, Park, Fabio, Gibson etc. If Hernandez recieved the scant service from his midfielders that our strikers do from ours, I don't think his goalscoring record would be much better than Weimann's. It's not like Hernandez creates many chances of his own, he's the ultimate goalhanger.
  11. Seems a bit churlish! It's not like Robinson looked all that in his brief minutes. Not that I want Bowery to start - he shouldn't, if Gabby's fit - but minutes are a fair reward for a good performance.
  12. I don't blame him. He's always received too much stick this season. I've said it before, I'll say it again, he wouldn't have had 50% of the responsibility he has had if the side were run properly. To be reliant on a 22 year old academy product performing for 90 mins every game, it's very risky. In a better team, he'd be rotated in and out, as per form and fixtures. He has the quality to thrive, he just needs to be playing in a better team.
  13. It was much too close, but what a sigh of relief! So glad we can lock this thing. Let's hope we don't need to re-open it in 8 months' time. I'd like one season where our place in the division is never in doubt.
  14. He looked good today, no question. He was definitely worth the cost of his transfer just for the cross for the 3rd goal. Really happy for the lad, especially after he was very unlucky to get the own goal. BUT it's probably still fair to say that he's got too much to prove - he hassled, harried, twisted and turned with great purpose, but he usually made the wrong decision with his shots - the two shots on target were both at the near post - and he could have played in other players on two occasions. Shouldn't be focusing on the negatives though - this was his best performance in a Villa shirt, and it came in the most important match of the season, so fair play, really happy for him.
  15. Hull look hopelessly nervous. We won't lose this, and we could score more goals. I'm actually looking forward to watching Villa play, and it's a weird feeling!
  16. Great goal. Credit to Bowery for a pitch-perfect cross and Andi for a great header. Wonderful!
  17. Purely lucky to be standing there, but fair play Andi, took the header beautifully!
  18. Genuine trivia question: are there any other strikers in Premier League history who have scored an own goal, but never actually scored for the team that pays their wages? I honestly can't think of one. This is a serious question by the way, might go into the pub quiz this week.
  19. No matter how bad I think this line-up is, no matter how much I've come to dislike Lambert, no matter how much pessimism I have, this is my team and we really, really need a result today. Come on lads! UTV!
  20. Not only that, but one of the biggest attendances all season. What does Lambert serve up for the home faithful? 90 minutes of Hull having 80% possession, and us camped on the edge of our own penalty area. Every week recently has been the same. After the last game, I feel angry and want Lambert to be sacked yesterday. Then, during the course of the week, I gradually mellow and see some of the difficulties he's faced. Then he names a teamsheet, and I realise the man has completely lost it.
  21. Looking at that team sheet, the only thing you can be sure of is that, come 5 o'clock, the scoreline will start 'Aston Villa nil'. At least 7 of our players are defensively-minded.
  22. I predict Kwan will explode in rage in 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . .
  23. Damed if he does, damed if he doesnt eh? Damned if he doesn't what? Were talking about an article where he's basically complaining about pressure and we don't know how hard he works etc etc, like hes pleading with the thousands now singing we want lambert out every week. For me theres a clear change in lambert's attitude in pressers, why is debatable but its definitely there imo. Imagine if it was a case of 35,000 plus demanding we want Cliffy Biro out. Do you see where I am coming from with this? I have nothing against you personally but surely you can see that this must hurt. Lambo's okay & he's a fine man. He has tried his best in really difficult circumstances & he really deserves credit, as do those posters on VT who recognise this fact. I wouldn't go that far. He's done what is required of him if we stay up. We will know a lot more in 15 hours Is this actually true? I can believe it was true last year, but I think everybody was expecting more out of this season than staying up by the skin of our teeth (if we actually even achieve that).
