Not really, its more outlets recycling the same story over and over. Obviously hope its true though, but remain cautious I didn't expect Gueye, Ayew or Amavi to be true when i first heard them. I don't agree with you, the media outlets running the Gueye/Amavi/Ayew stories are now linking our next (supposed) signing from the French league. But regardless they have been very good sources, so if they run it then I'd say it's credible.

I am not having a pop at the snake but that is twice as many goals as he managed in 81 appearances - his entire PL career with us! Didn't work too well for Newcastle.......In fairness Newcastle had like 10 players out of 18 all French at one point and Dummett was the only homegrown player at times starting. Completely different here. Well it makes Villa a more attractive proposition to good French players like Jordan Veretout and that has to be a good thing doesn't it? You say "it didn't work too well for Newcastle" but we are hardly comparable in terms of numbers. It is also worth noting that they finished 10th in 2014 and were sitting at 10th before Pardew left – I would take 10th this season thank you very much.... Oh, and Arsenal have about 5 French players and they seem to do OK… I think everyone of us if offered a top 10 finish would snatch that right up!

Why would Veretout be unlikely?Not saying he is unlikely more I find it unlikely Sherwood has targeted three players this window with the same name, just seems unlikely to me. With the last few weeks I think the club are using his determination to show just how much players still want to be at villa. Yes it maybe coming off a little cheesy but what the hell....I'm going with it. He clearly feels very honoured to be joining us & why not have a PR spin to get us excited. He seems like a emotionally driven guy, I'm hoping to see him go mental with a late winner for us & diving into the away fans!!!
