  1. Christ. Both his kids live in Brazil and he wouldn’t have seen them for a while when also settling into a new country on his own. What a word removed for going back when he’s just discovered he’ll miss the rest of the season and is probably in a bad place.
  2. Doesn't he have somewhere in the region of 5-10 absolute howlers this season? Bullet well and truly dodged.
  3. Ryan Woods? Went to Stoke a few windows back and think he has struggled a bit. Hard to judge though as Jones didn’t do great and by all accounts their squad had even more egos than ours.
  4. And he has either decided it’s a good idea to take 6 months out at this point in his career or no club at a high enough level to convince him to play has deemed him worth offering a deal to. Neither possibility fills me with hope.
  5. Take him, run over all his limbs with the team bus, return.
  6. There is. As he wasn’t carded the FA could retrospectively ban him for using excessive force. They won’t, but they can if they want to stop him trying to end any more careers.
  7. I thought he was older so I’m pleasantly surprised he’s only 26! Seems so long ago that he moved to Marseille.
  8. Same. Particularly on loan with a pre agreed fee.
  9. He was only 24 when he left us. I’d argue if he fell apart at this time it’s a stretch “he’s always been good”!
  10. Is Maja any good? I see the click bait sites have started mentioning him.
  11. This is probably a bit harsh and assumes a lot but the only thing that worries me about Bowen is he looks like he’s carrying a few extra lbs. Not fat by any means. I should probably also caveat this by saying I haven’t watched him play this season so may be way off the mark. Obviously this doesn’t necessarily mean anything as Rooney was the same and worked fantastically hard and on the other end of this scale is McCormack. You just don’t see it that much anymore in the top flight with how much work goes into health and fitness. Bradley Dack is another one I thought this about and I think it’s fairly well publicised he does like a drink. Not that surprising going out with a Love Islander.
  12. I actually loved Kodjia as a player. He’s always been a little selfish and not looked for the pass. Unfortunately injuries have taken away his explosiveness and you’re much more likely to get punished for cheaply losing the ball in this league than the championship.
  13. Pretty sure most people just felt it was a risk with his injury record, I don’t think many don’t rate him.
  14. Yet you can’t bring yourself to praise Wesley for playing well, only to criticise him for missing the nuance of one letter in a non-existent word when writing in his 3rd or 4th language. You seem to think it makes sense never supporting Smith because of vague assertions about what he did or didn’t do when manager of Brentford and Walsall when, let’s be honest, you weren’t watching them play. But somehow it’s outrageous for people who have seen Kodjia play for us in 90 other league games to have an opinion on him that he confirmed. Sure, they’re the embarrassing ones. p.s. I consider ‘constant bashing’ one poster saying the same thing twice on ever page of a player thread and the match thread, not different people having the same opinion.
  15. Funnily enough Arsenal fans think he supports them as he said the Emirates was his favourite stadium too. Talk about clutching at straws.
  16. Not a lot in the moment. When all three are hamstrings and (I think) a couple have recently come back from injury there are definitely questions to ask. Edit. Looks like Bruce agrees. "You get injuries by forcing players to play tired. That's not an excuse, it's a fact. I was concerned before the match, I made that clear."
  17. @Keener window-cleaner Jesus. I'm not sure which is worse but was it a journo or ex-pro?
  18. Unfortunately not. "I have seen a few things recently, let's sign Jarod Bowen, he's a Villa fan," Bowen told Soccer Saturday. "I am like, I want to reply, but I'm not a Villa fan. It's my Dad who is a Villa fan. Let's just get this straight. "My first goal was Villa away. On my Mum's birthday, last year and my Dad was there. I think he sprained his ankle ligaments in the celebrations of the goal. I don't think he was a Villa fan that day, he was more just buzzing that I scored. Luckily, he was in the away end."
  19. She was awful. I do feel a lot of the time the criticism against female commentators goes too far and is because people find it odd hearing a woman's voice, but so many they pick are truly awful. I have a female friend who works for Sky and is incredibly knowledgeable about football. When she just did voiceovers on the Youtube channel it was all horrific abuse. When she was in front of the camera it was all just about how good looking she was. Unfortunately she has now decided her career is behind the cameras so it's not a surprise they're always dragging out thick as shit ex players to comment instead. You only have to look at the likes of Joe Cole to see playing at the top level is no guarantee of competency. Eni Aluko proved this when she was a pundit for our game v Chelsea.
  20. I've noticed there are a lot fewer comments like this now. When I see them it mostly seems to be Birmingham/West Brom/Wolves fans. Also Leicester fans as they have a bee in their bonnet about people saying he's better than Maddison. I've been saying it since Maddison went to Leicester to people who had barely watched either play. Both are fantastic though and should be in the England squad ahead of Mount, Barkley, Alli etc. Fans of the 'bigger clubs' are starting to absolutely rave about him as there is no bitterness there and they seem to think they can swoop in during January and take him off our hands no problem.
  21. Beyond parody. You know he's Brazilian and it's his first 6 months in this country? And he speaks several other languages. What a pathetic thing to pick at. What did you think of his performance today?
  22. God that's shit. They'd be in real trouble if they hadn't got lucky wins against Utd & Tottenham.
  23. Bit shit isn’t it. We can argue about tactics etc until the cows come home but I don’t like to see players being risked like that. I was a bit disappointed to find out McGinn had a niggle for a while before his break this season. I guess we have to trust the doctors.
  24. Jonjo Shelvey completed the most passes of any Newcastle player today. He came off at half time with 17 passes.
