  1. who cares where they are now? when he fiorst came in that first season when bolton were at the bottom he turned them round and got them in the top half, which was my point, that it CAN be quickly turned around. if you want to then point at a long term then ask another question rather than tack your point onto a completely different question
  2. without being picky here modric had just signed for spurz and was not a good player in his first season and had not settled at all, bale also, did not feature in more than 9 league games all season under redknap and also just to mention, lambert had the summer to buy what ever players he wanted to however im now going away from the original point which was it is not unrealistic for a manager to go into a club and turn it around quickly
  3. norwich had just lost 7-1 to lamberts colchester, their squad had suffered relegation from the championship, he came in and turned them round, when coyle turned up at bolton they used the same players and redknap had the same players ramos had and he turned them around. it is not just the players it is down to tactics, the confidence instilled into them, formations. thats why they practice 4 days per week, fitness and tactics are the basics just because we are aston villa doesnt make our plight any different to anyone elses so doesnt makes norwichs turn around under lambert or bolton under coyle ( for the first season) or redknap with spurz any different, they all had teams not playing well and turned them around.
  4. but then again it can be, when he went to norwich he completely changed them around in a season and got them promoted, same with other managers , redknapp did it at spurz when ramos was a disaster it was done at bolton by coyle. instant season or half season long improvement is not a myth. however i think most people can see that we are in style of play, moving forwards. in terms of age of players, lowering them and reducing wages. in terms of results we are not much different to last season. the last 2 results were expected ( the results NOT the score) and THAT is pretty much ALL that is pissing most people off beating liverpool, the signs were there for us to be getting a raping, they should have been 4-0 up before we got near their goals. we got some luck, liverpool couldnt score, brad played a blinder and our 2 forwards had a great game. realistically if someone had told us we would get 3 points from those 3 games i guess 65-70% would be happy enough with the points. losing 8-0 though is a true ermbarrassment, it finished the same against spurz, they were just gentl;y passing and moving and we were no where near them. that is down to confidence. players too scared to move and intercept the ball and instead waiting which is far too late to react to anything. as long as this doesnt go all shit because the players are dreaming of wembley, they re organise and lambert sorts their heads out then we should still be able to move towards the middle of the league. defeat to wigan would be a shocker though.
  5. ahhh resorting to hoof ball even when we can pass it around, nice lets wait for yet another poor pass to let them in for number 4
  6. horray lets go for 9 this time round utter shit yet again well done, at home this time as well a true disgrace
  7. first half has been one of the worst displaysin a good while noone is expecting to play chelsea off the park and win by lots of goals what we do expect is not some gutless slow motion shit passing negative worse than schoolboy crap hoof ball type of football bannan when he plays short passes to feat looks tidy, try the hollywood 1 in 15 passes and we give them the ball and they go down the other end and it ends in a goal or attempt on goal what him, if he hasnt got it he orders who ever has it to pass it backwards to a defender to hoof holman has done **** all, really sweat **** all weiman and benteke are miles apart, other sides of the pitch apart lowton hasnt got forwards westwoods passing has been shit keep the **** ball, if a forward simple pass is on, make the ****, stop passing it back and then let chelsea get all 11 behind the ball which then means hoofing it hoping benteke wins the header ( if he isnt offside) very very poor so far show some **** guts, and show some kind of ambition, otherwise dont expect to start the next game oh and a special mention to herd - wake the **** up you moron
  8. cant even make a simple pass in the middle forwards, **** shit really i cant experess how **** shit we have been
  9. take bannan off and sort the shit out of benteke he looks shit today, utter shit so far
  10. what a waste of a day this is becoming show some **** guts at the very **** least 8th time benteke offside?
  11. dont know why we are quite so **** shit no forward movement no midfield and **** all in defence
  12. this is wank, i mean proper wank cant pass cant tackle no chasing offside all the time sort this shit out
  13. this is very poor so far, bannan playing it backwards or 45 yards to no one, westwood poor passing benteke not at the races, holman not chasing looks poor
  14. bannan please stop the **** with the 40 yard hollywood shit , **** please
  15. who to believe, 2 managers and both football clubs or an anonymous poster who has nothing to back it up with any kind of facts what so ever? hmmmm
  16. lomg term it may make good sense as this team would have had to battle on through as a group, hopefully making the group stronger and more of a complete unit however when we know dunne is off this summer and time is ticking on ireland, bent and nzog maybe now would be the time to try and snap up the other players lambert was interested in , in the summer. im still not convinced by bannan, against the poo when he put his head down and got stuck in he was good, but when he is mincing around trying the hollywood pass all the time he just gives the ball away far too cheap and does not try and win it back. we need a cb either jan or summer, we could do with a leader in the middle, someone respected by the team and able to do a job like andy townsend did and we also need a player who is comfortable out wide and can play in the middle ( without sounding like a broken record... downing comes to mind)
  17. you are aware that under fergie man utd were the biggest spenging team from the beginning? he purchased a lot of players for alot of money and they were not youth players. man utd did what liverpool did in the 80's and that is to buy up the best couple players from the top division each year. spurz are the most recent ones who invested in youth, buying up alot of very promising younger players from lower leagues man utd fielded beckham giggs and scholes and the nevilles but not all from the beginning and they were all home grown rather than purchased
  18. glad lambert has changed his formation to utilise our forwards properly, it certainly has looked far better scoring wise in the 2 games he has used a proper 2 up front. early days yet, and not every game will be suited to the 3 5 2 but he had picked his tactics very well in these last 2 games. for once against the red scum we had a bit of luck and a strong ref who tried to let the game flow and wasnt put off by their attempts to get a penalty each time the ball went in the box. we seem to be getting some momentum now, i doubt the odd set back will stop this and can only really see us moving forwards until the end of the season i think it wouldnt be too much of an expectation for us to finish in the top 10 now, especially with all the midtable teams beating each other, it is a close league this season, a couple wins sees a team move 3 or 4 places up the table. there are still improvements to be made but you cant expect to go from the utter shit from last season to perfect in 1 season, it will take time and its nice to see the new players starting to all settle in the team.
  19. but your expecting different players to play the same? gabby is not football smart, bent is not 6 foot 3 with a huge jump. just the same as benteke isnt going to skin a player purely on pace like gabby can, or play on the shoulder of the last defender like bent does all completely different types of forwards and as such they are not going to play the same im glad we have 4 different forwards, gives the opponents so much more to think about rather than knowing there is 2 huge forwards, the opponents can then counter it with plenty of advanced notice at the moment we have a very good blend of 2 thinking forwards who seem to be reading each others play more and more. by playing 2 up front together instead of benteke on his own ( something many of us have been saying for a long time) for the last 2 games has got us 7 goals. i think benteke/ bent would work just as well as benteke/ weiman in regards to goals scored as long as the same system used in the last 2 games is used rather than the 1 up front and a forward on each wing. people kept repeating that bent cant play lamberts system, well none of our forwards could with any kind of success which is why changing the system has worked out well.
