  1. Lol....... Veretout and Sanchez (very good at centre-half recently) have both been having decent seasons. I reckon it's just a matter of how much we can flog them for now though.
  2. You rate Cleverley highly, but think Delph was no good for us? A bit OT, as neither will be joining us, but Cleverley was piss poor for us bar Sherwood's first 6 games in charge, and has been roundly jeered by Everton fans regularly. Delph, whatever else can be said about him, performed well at least in his last 2 years in a Villa shirt.
  3. It was a Kerry U14s team vs Cork! Hourihane destroyed us
  4. Well he once scored 1-3 against my team in an underage inter-county Gaelic football match, so it's safe to say he'd be a quality addition.
  5. Tbh, I don't care what sort of adulation they have for each other as long as they gel..........
  6. They have an option to buy Berisha afaik. Hopefully Gollini breaks into their side either way, but I would've preferred a loan with fewer obstacles in his way!
  7. Interesting. Napoli and Fiorentina have long been fans, so I think he can aim higher that Vicarage Road! Still think Berisha would be number one ahead of Gollini in any case.
  8. Agree in principle. In reality, however, Gollini will certainly not be Atalanta's number one. They have an outstanding keeper in Marco Sportiello, who is still young himself, and will unquestionably remain first choice. Of course, Sportiello may be sold this summer, leaving Gollini as top dog, but that's far from a given, as Atalanta have already brought in huge income from a couple of recent sales. Personally, I would've liked us to keep Gollini on as number two (eliminating the chance of Bunn appearing), or loan him out for guaranteed games, even if it meant Serie B.
  9. Rare to see you two singing from the same hymn sheet...
  10. I think the fact that we generally play 3 midfielders who provide next to nothing going forward hurts him (and our other attackers). We have nobody in the middle of the park who can play a penetrating pass to release our attacking mids. Instead, the ball is ponderously given to the full-backs, who pass it on to our wingers, meaning that Ayew, Grealish, et al typically receive the ball on half-way with their backs to goal, and the whole opposition defense in front of them. Sign a decent passer in midfield, who can break the lines, and we'll see a different Ayew imo. I also agree that he's better than McCormack. Ideally, I wouldn't sell either (as I think our problems are further back the pitch), but given that we could command a similar fee for Ross, he would be out the door before Ayew for me.
  11. Won't be a popular view, but I would be very disappointed if we sold Ayew.
  12. 25/25 with 17 secs on the clock
  13. Can't blame him for trying to generate headlines tbf. If he didn't he wouldn't have a pot to piss in...
  14. People said the same when he made the drop from United to Villa, and even when the likes of Westwood dropped down a league. Cleverley is a poor player with no confidence imo. Turned us down previously after taking him on loan too.
  15. I'd be delighted if Delph returned. Think he was more naive than malicious in how he handled his exit, and by all accounts he was a brilliant example at the club up until his departure. On the pitch, he's miles better than any of our current CMs and would be the best in his position in the league. Matt Law is a respectable journalist, so I'm confident that we have an interest. It does seem a bit of a stretch to expect him to choose us in our current predicament though. Don't fancy Cleverley back at all. People seem to forget how poor he was for us, barring a six-game period when Sherwood first came in. He's been shocking for Everton and is being jeered by his own fans at a 3rd straight club. Delph, Brady, Hourihane and Lansbury would all be improvements on what we have, to varying degrees..
  16. I think it's been the opposite! Almost every game is turgid and dreadful to watch in the Championship. On the other hand, Ligue 1 has had some thrilling sides this season. Monaco, Nice, Lyon, PSG (at times), and even Rennes are a great watch. Anyhow, on topic, the Championship is shite and I hope we get promoted.
  17. Sky have been saying that Zaha will be available for Palace on Tuesday before meeting up with the Ivory Coast squad, so I was thinking there might be hope! Good news if true
  18. Not saying by any stretch of the imagination that Tim was/is a good manager, but when he came in our style was the polar opposite of Lambert's turgid shite. Players were even allowed in the opposition half on occasion, and if we fell behind we were no longer content to defend our one goal deficit.
