    Running

Never thought I'd end up on this thread, but anyway... Started going to the gym a couple of weeks back. Last Friday, I thought I'd have a bosh on the treadmill just to see how unfit I was, and to see if I could run 400 yards. To my surprise, I ran a mile, though it nearly killed me (I'm a smoker who likes a kebab and lots of beers and who hasn't even ran for a bus for about ten years...). I was quite chuffed with myself, so had another crack on Tuesday. MAnaged to run 3.8km in 20 minutes, and only stoped because of the timer on the treadmill. Now I'm off running there again tomorrow, and am loving the fact that I can run! Got a bit of a calf strain, but that's probably because I didn't bother to stretch at all... So... how long does it take to build up to run a reasonable distance, say 10k? I'm planning on ditching the fags in the next month or two...
  4. Lost one in a taxi. word removed ran up a £60 bll before the enxt morning ringing abroad. Found one in a taxi, returned it to a bloke in Selly Oak who got me a load of beer. Then had one robbed from my pocket in town. There are a lot of words removed about. If you're found a phone and kept it, I hope you suffer in some way.
  5. Bon Jovi residency in London in June!!
  6. Thirded. Seems well out of order. Seems I'm going to have to stand up all game just to see the players' feet, so no doubt I'll be kicked out after ten minutes...
  7. Seconded! General, I'd be grateful if you could check your PM when you have a moment. Many thanks!
  8. Disappointed to be out of Europe, but we played fairly well I thought. Probably a fair result, in that they had a couple of good chances go astray, as did we (that pen, Milner's miss from Young's shot). This was lost in the first leg. Easy to say that now we can concentrate on league and cups... but it's the reason we fight to get top six each year, and it's gone.
  9. I'd start Albrighton instead of young on the right, and put Milner on the left with Gabs up front, and keep the 4-5-1/4-3-3. Milner and Albrighton will work their socks off and track back, and I think it's important to keep it tight and not concede, or we need to get three. Is it away goals after 90 mins?
  10. What's racist about them?!
  11. What a twerp. If any of my council tax goes toward funding them a half empty pile of shite then I'm cancelling my direct debit. Balls to 'em. Buy it yourself, Wolf.
  12. They'll finish midtable this year, with big crowds. Then the fans will get bored, they'll slowly drop drop down, go into administration in three years, be relegated to League One. Ashley will sell them for £1 to a circus who will turn St James' Park into a big top. *crosses fingers*
  13. That's good to know! I've been half-expecting to spend the next ten years in a Siberian tin mine Will you or Randy be in Moscow General?
  14. I agree on the 7pm kick off. I managed to get there on time, but it still took over an hour from Selly Oak due to normal rush hour traffic, in addition to the football traffic. My brother missed the first 20 minutes, and loads of people were filtering in well after kick-off. Great game though, hope you enjoyed it
  15. **** vile song. Hate it.
  16. Too right. I miss him to bits. If he was on the end of a few of the headers that Barry and Sidwell have missed since Carew's been out (not slagging them off... fair play to getting into the positions they got in), then my fingernails wouldn't be in such a state, that's for sure.
  17. Many thanks for your prompt response General. The Luzhniki is indeed where I was hoping it'd be, so I'm glad that the few snippets I'd heard were wrong! Thanks again!
  18. Hi General, I keep hearing disturbing rumours, though nothing official, about a possibility of moving the away tie vs CSKA Moscow to a ground nearly 1,000 miles away from Moscow itself. As I and no doubt many others are already booked onto flights/hotels to Moscow around the time of the game, this wouldn't be great news. I know we should probably wait for confirmation of things before booking flights and such, but you have to get in there early - my flights for example which cost £180 a few weeks back now cost £480, so waiting wasn't really viable. Hopefully it's all just pie in the sky and we'll play where we were drawn, but if you could put my mind at rest, it'd be much appreciated Thanks!
  19. Villa, without a moment's hesitation. I'd rather Villa win the League Cup than England win the World Cup and European Championships every year for twenty years.
  20. Hello General, Bit of a selfish ask here, but anyway... worth a try! Basically, I attended five away games last year with my brother. However, one of them was a last minute thing when we decided to hot-foot it up to Blackburn on the Monday night, where tickets were available on the door. This means we only have four away matches recorded on our card, which is going to make it a bugger to get to many away matches this season. Is there any way we can get that match added to our cards, so we can get the priority booking that people with five attended matches get? I can probably find the stubs if needs be... Thanks for your time!
  21. Walking is ridiculous. Might as well have the 100m gambole, or 400m hopping. Actually, they'd be pretty entertaining!
