  1. Villans. It's a simple bastardisation of the word 'Villains'. But obviously we don't want to be Villains. So we're Villans. Simple. ('Lions' is rubbish. Makes me think of Milwall.)
  2. I thought Reo-Coker was one of our worst players tonight myself. I don't get what other people are seeing in his performances so far this season. Having drive and determination is no bloody use if you can't play football. I would have liked to see Albrighton on for either Sidwell or Reo-Coker late on, putting Milner on the left and letting Young play off the front two. We just seemed to have no ideas at all.
  3. I can see the logic in Milner at right back. He's a hard working player, but he has the quality to get the ball forward. So we have two players on the right who can start off attacks very effectively, doubling our chances of getting an accurate ball forward on that side. The fatal flaw in the plan is that I haven't yet seen it work.
  4. For me: -----------------Guzan----------------- Beye----Cuellar----Davies----Shorey Milner---Petrov-----Delph------Young ---------Gabby------Carew------------ But I'd understand if Heskey started instead of Carew. It's difficult to make that call without seeing them in training every day.
  5. The far right always benefit in tough economic times. Hopefully Brown will go and someone remotely competent will come in. A best case scenario then (for me) would be a hung parliament, with some more power given to the Lib Dems.

  7. indeed. well, the multi-millionaire tried, but you walked away .... I think anyone who took money that someone gave them in the street for no reason is acting pretty stupidly. It's nothing to do with not being greedy, you just have no idea what the motives are of someone doing a thing like that. One possible motive would be to lace the banknotes with anthrax so as to catch out greedy sods like most of you on this thread.
  8. The thread starter didn't really specify how this money would be given and where it would come from, I had to make assumptions. There is no such thing as free cash. If you're taking money, it's coming from somewhere and somebody is missing out. I have a wife and small child too, and I try my best to provide for them. But as long as we're relatively comfortable, aren't starving and have a roof over our heads, I don't want to take money that will deprive others of those things. If a multi-millionaire wanted to give me a slice of thier cash, I'd probably take it, spending it both on my loved ones and giving to charity. But if someone walked up to me in the street and offered me £1000 I'd walk away.
  9. Perhaps if you went back and read my two previous posts, you'd see why?
  10. The other reason for responding 'no' to this is the same reason that I slam the front door in the face of anyone who calls round telling me they can get me on a cheaper gas/electricity tarrif.
  11. I voted 'no'. Because I know that there is a good chance that me having more money would deprive other people of it, and they might need it more. To give you context, I don't earn a huge amount of money, am in a reasonable amount of debt, but have just about enough to get by on.
  12. I'd rest a few, but play a fairly strong side. Guzan Young Davies Cuellar Shorey Milner Gardner Petrov Sidwell Young Gabby So Carew, Barry, Reo-Coker, Friedel and Laursen all rested
  13. I thought of that option once I'd posted the poll and I can't change it now. Have to admit I didn't think anyone would go for that though. Really? I wouldn't have expected it to be popular, but I'd be surprised if I was the only one. I just believe that somebody's life comes over somebody's feelings (especially when that person is dead). And by quite a large margin too.
  14. I think the general problem here, as with many issues in the world today, is that people don't like being told what to do by the government. Well boo-hoo. This is life and death. Get over it. I've voted 'Opt out (which I wouldn't)' though the choice I want isn't there - once your dead, the medical profession can take whatever it needs to save other people's lives.
  15. Anyone mentioned Monk yet? Well they should have.
  16. Ashton for me too. I really wanted us to go for him when he went to West Ham. Think he could be an amazing striker (though will admit he didn't look great for England recently. Then again Shorey didn't impress me for England either). I wouldn't call Santa Cruz a one season wonder, but I'd still consider him a risk. Either player would improve our team/squad immensely though.
  17. Gill Scott-Heron - The Revolution Will Not be Televised
  18. I think 'walked away' is highly unlikely. I've no doubt that you're happy to sit back and play the waiting game though - in the hope that as time goes by MON will feel pressured into accepting a lower offer. When's the deadline for Champion's League registration again?
  19. Well, as with most negotiations, that may depend on the result. If (a big if) it really is the case that he demanded the full price, and Rafa ends up paying it, I'd say he'd been a pretty damn good negotiator. If I had to guess (and it is a guess, as with all of us here) I'd imagine Rafa has offered around £14-£15m so far. And MON's letter might have said, how about £17m plus Finnan? And who's to say that's MON's final position, as Liverpool haven't come back to us. Perhaps if they went to £15m + Finnan, or £16m + Finnan something might happen. The negotiation process clearly isn't over anyway, or one of the sides would have walked away from the deal I'd have thought.
  20. OK, so you're not willing to discuss this seriously I take it? First the problems were with MON refusing to negotiate, now they're with MON not negotiating in exactly the way you'd like him to. I really can't see what else you are proposing here apart from: 'We are Liverpool, so you must sell us this player at less than the value you have placed on him.'
  21. Redman, you keep going on about a refusal to negotiate, but I fail to see any evidence that this is actually the case. I've no doubt that MON has been difficult to deal with throughout all of this (I wonder why?) but to suggest he's sticking his fingers in his ears and going 'la la la la la' is frankly ludicrous. The latest reports point to MON putting a proposal to Liverpool last week some time. As far as I know, nothing has been heard back from Liverpool since. So who is it here who isn't negotiating?
  22. Oh well that's all right then. Because Gareth Barry would be a nice, unbiased person so ask about this situation...
  23. He either cheers up or loses his England place. Which would make him a lot lot more unhappy than he is right now.
  24. No, no, no. Apart from the fact that such a clause isn't legal, I want to see Barry have to face the fan's reaction when he returns to Villa Park. It's the least he deserves.
