  1. Just what I was saying no pressure on the opposition just give easy get out passes and all the time and space to play at there own pace
  2. Does it matter anymore what players are brought in if you go out and demand your team sit off and let the opposition have all the time in the world without a tackle going in. Attacking wide men playing like fullbacks and not pressing and all round lack of urgency and desire. Can't watch this shit anymore
  3. At the game and tactically shocking has got himself an inbalanced squad and now trying to fit them in to a system that don't work. As crap as Westwood is the whole midfield can't ever be were they need for be because of being dragged all over the shop. When we do get the ball everybody is out of position. Tactically inept as a manager. We will be closer to the bottom than the top under him.
  4. football is about opinions hence one of the reasons why we have these forums, i think he was ready and we let the likes of Zat Knight stop him. not that i am suggesting he was ready to go to Chelsea
  5. Curtis Davies and Matt Lowton didn't come through the system but fair point in that they were both deemed surplus to requirements. and i do agree that players develop at different levels but Cahill was clearly ready for first team football and Martin O'Neill wanted CB that could just clear there lines rather than footballing centre backs. Steven Davis was progressing well with Villa. and Marc Albrighton has won the premier league within 2 years of leaving. so i do agree that players develop at different levels but i am talking about players that were right in front of our faces and clealy good enoiugh to contribute. I am not trying to suggest i thought it was obvious that Cahill was a future £30 million defender and future England vice captain or that it was clear that Albrighton was going to go on and play a leading role in winning the premier league but my point is it was quite easy to see these players could have offered a significant contribution and would also have cost us a lot less in transfer fee's and probably wages then the lot we are left with now. It may look like i am saying this in hindsight but i was saying this when these players left Villa. the day Cahill left i was fuming, when i realised we were messing around in getting albrighton's contract sorted i thought it was mad. I was surpirsed we let Davis go. I will admit that i was less concerned about Gardner however i would happily have him back in our squad now. Clark might have developed at another club but the reason why he never go the chance was because no other clubs thought he was good enough so never tried to buy him.
  6. This type of thread my already have been done so if it has i apologise but this is just a couple of thoughts i have been having over the last few weeks. So next season we are going to be playing championship football and it occurred to me that next season there will be a number of players that have come through the Villa youth system that somebody within the mess that is the management set-up of villa decided were not good enough to play for the club. just to clarify i am not talking about the likes of James Milner or Benteke. Craig Gardner - Not the greatest of players to ever pull the villa shirt on but none the less a steady solid player that i think would have added something to the shambles of our midfield over that last few years, plus could have filled in at full back if needed. If i am getting given a choice of Gardner or Bacuna who has filled a similar role over that time i know who i would rather have had. I am not 100% on his contract situation but i am assuming he will still be at WBA next season. Steven Davis - I am pretty sure he was voted as player of the season one of the season he played for us and i am almost certain would have had a far more positive impact on our joke of a squad than the likes of westwood and bacuna. Next season probably playing regularly for a top 8 team in Southampton and will be going to the Euro's with Northern Ireland. Gary Cahill - Since being deemed not good enough for a place in the Villa team by Martin O'Neill he has gone on to a big money move to Chelsea and a regular place in the England Squad. So next year when we are probably playing Walsall in a local derby Cahill can look forward to derby games against Arsenal, West Ham etc. Marc Albrighton - the most recent of the academy players i can think of deemed not good enough for Villa and then going off to play regulary in the premier league. In my view this one sums up Villa in a nutshell. the player not good enough for the might Villa plays a sigifigant part in winning the Premier League with Leicester City while the team he wasn't good enough to get in are being relegated with the most pathetic points total in the history of the premier league with the most pathetic bunch of people in any squad in the history of the premier league. (just a note here as well that refer to the players as people not as footballers because i think the is something intrinsically wrong with the playing staff as human beings not just as footballers. I think a lot of our players have issue's with there character that runs deeper than football). so there is just a couple of thoughts, i am sure people will highlight that Cahill wanted to leave and i would say yes perhaps he did but thats because he knew he was good enoigh to be playing week in and week out and its the reason we are left with garbage like Clarke as our academy graduate centre back.
  7. for what it's worth, i like Remi Garde however he is as others have said right man wrong time. I also think Paul Lambert was right man wrong time and it is the club that has let both men down. So if Garde leaves by choice or by boot up the arse i think we should go for Nigel Pearson. Reason being he is a bloody good manager who can bring squads together and more important than that he don't care what people think of him and i think we need a bit of that. I doubt we would get pearson because any sane man would run a mile if offered the job but if he would take it i think Pearson would be the guy to stop a badly sinking ship hitting rock bottom.
  8. given in again, not just a team of poor footballers but a pathetic bunch of humans. if we could i would happily say sack all the first team squad and start again. if we cheer they are crap if we boo they are crap. NO HOPE
  9. who the manage is just does not matter anymore, nobody would be able to get anything out of this club it is rotten to the core. all this does is highlight how good a job paul lambert did in my opinion. without him we would have gone 4 years ago.
  10. As a few have said already i can to a certain extent accept that players are not good enough, i am not happy about it but with the way the club is run its to be expected i am afraid. What i find hard to understand is the lack of effort I know stats are not everything but if you look at the stats for the distance teams have run this season we are bottom by some distance. perhaps you could say thats fine if you are top of the league and making other sides run around chasing shadows. We are not we are bottom of the league and to me it looks more like the players are not working hard enough.
  11. just been on the villa website and in the news section the was a "villa sign Lescott" with a picture of him holding the shirt. clicked on the link and nothing happened and now its disappeared. maybe he has changed his mind
  12. Shock horror yet another day when I look on my sky sports news and read morning paper talk and the main story is Benteke to Utd. This has been going on for months now, how are the papers not bored of churning out the same stuff. Is it so offensive to them that villa have a good player that they have to try and engineer a move for him. Either that or his agent has good contacts in the press to keep the none story alive
  13. Firstly if he is going this needs to get done straight away so sherwood can sort the replacement out and get them intergrated into the squad. I don't want to see him go but it's best for the club if he is going to get it done as soon as possible. Secondly why is anyone mentioning balotelli. The guy just can't play but through being a bit of a character and getting himself in the paper people think he is a player. The is a reason why he only scored one goal last year that's lack of ability. Add into that the lack of work rate and bad attitude and he starts to make adebayour look like a good signing.
  14. I hope a don't make a fool of myself with this but adebayor for benteke is an absolute lol. Not a term I use lightly but that's what that offer did to me. However if we accepted that deal I would be handing my villa membership back. I under no circumstances will support a villa team with adebayor on it especially as that deal is a way of Spurs getting rid of there shit. Also perhaps if benteke is interested in Spurs then he isn't as good as he thinks he is. Spurs in my opinion are crap and if not based in London would be relegation strugglers every year. Come on Christian you're far to good for spurs
  15. I am bored of reading all this rubbish in the papers about benteke, it's been going on since the first season he played for us and in all that time has anyone even mad a bid for him? Spurs might have a couple of years ago and Liverpool might do now but for all the talk in the paper you would think a bid a day was coming in for him. I would love him to stay but realistically I think he is too good for is at the moment and if he is going to go it needs to be very soon and for the right money not going cheap so we have time and plenty of money to replace him. I feel slightly optimistic about the future but I don't see the Beast being part of it
  16. Echo the thoughts of most if not all this is a good move. Butch Wilkins talks with more sense and knowledge than most in the game. For me more signs that the club are getting things off the pitch right finally. Hopefully its not to late for this to start having a positive impact on the team
  17. The paper is saying today the has been no enquiry so far. Looking at it I don't see any of the top 4 going for him because he probably wouldn't be a starter for any of them and other than city I can't see them paying £32 mil for a bench warmer. That leaves Liverpool and spurs realistically, Liverpool can't or won't pay his valuation. Spurs in my opinion would not be a big step up, it would be a very slight step but he will still never get champions league football there. Add to that they have Daniel levy doing deals for them and he seems to value players they don't want anymore about double there realistic value and a player we don't want to sell he seems to value about 10 millions less than we do. I know it can't happen but I would love us to say one club we will not be dealing with on this are Spurs. Based on nothing other than my own warped thinking I'm struggling to see where he is going to go if he does leave us. However I would still be shocked if he was still at villa come January.
  18. Just a thought I have been having. When was the last time we had a manager leave us to take a "better" job. My memory makes graham taylor to england as the last one. The reason I ask that is because if another club ie Man Utd or a job like england came up and they wanted our manager that would suggest we have been doing well. On that basis either we have appointed generally crap managers or the board have not supported the manager as they should or a combination of the two.

  20. The manager past or future are not the problem the board room level is the problem. What right minded manager would want to join villa. Unless you win the champions league you get a load of people calling for your head. O'leary hounded out mccleish hounded out Lambert hounded out. I'm not saying any of these are great managers but any future manager is going to look at vills say right boardroom chaos not budget and supports wanting you out the second things dont go well. Good luck villa from this shambles to the next
  21. I hate to say it everybody but I think I'm done with villa. I actually can't take how angry this club makes me and I don't think it's fair on the family for them to see me as angry as I have been over the last 4-5 years. I have been a villa fan since 1989 and I'm 33 years old now so I have stuck with it for long enough. The club is rotten from the inside and its rotting its self all the way through. This isn't based on losing to Hull or even about getting relegated which I think is now going to happen. I honestly don't think a change of manager will help I don't even think a change of owner will help. The is just a negative defeating vibe that will forever hang over the club. I currently feel a bubbling anger inside that I am struggling to suppress
  22. The obvious one would be Eddie Howe for me but then he would probably get hung out to dry by the board like Lambert has. Plus he wouldn't ever come here. Also another name to throw out there Sean dyche at Burney doing a great job and seems to have a really positive approach.
  23. As things stand he is convicted and had a failed appeal so I consider him a convicted rapist for ever unless the law of the land tells me otherwise. On that basis I do not understand why any football club/manager would be so morally bankrupt as to want a rapist on there payroll. Unfortunately it seems it's only when the sponsors tell them they don't want there name associated with rape do they suddenly say we were only in negotiations. As for the PFA they may as well issue a statement saying evens is a hero and the girl was begging for it. I really do think there handling of this is a disgrace. It is almost as if these clubs seem to think we are all going to forget he has been convicted "it's fine everybody will have forgotten about it in a week it will blow over and he might grab is a couple of goals". Pathetic really and I hope a massive deal gets made of it to stop that unapologetic convicted rapist ever getting a contract on this country. I heard Phil brown (who I think is a clueless idiot anyway) saying on the radio that he has served his time so get back on with playing. A. He can't possibley be rehabilitated as he hasn't even admitted what he did was wrong and B if he was a bank manger who did half a five year sentence for fraud would they say well banking is his only skill so he has to be allowed a job in banking. Not a chance, I think Evans and the PFA should accept that unless he is somehow not convicted of rape what he did on that night is the reason his football career in this country is over.
  24. Hi rob You are probably right about me being exaggerating but that is born out of frustration at these people with the Lambert out agenda probably the same ones who put the David o'leary banner up a few years back and my point was simply who do we get that replaces him that would improve things. These idiots that shout lambert out very rarely seem to come up with great alternatives that would realistically work under our financial constraints. When I say I think we will have enough to stay up I'm not suggesting i would bet my house on it I just think we will based on what I have seen of all the teams this year. However as I said I think most of the time the football is appalling aimless idea less and unadventures but perhaps Lambert has decided to build from the back get us solid then sort the goals/creativity out. I think personally the main problem we have is that we still only have the counter attack as an effective way of playing and at home that works ok against sides like Man Utd but when you play palace or Blackpool who don't come at us and leave space we have no idea of how to break sides down.
