Genuine question here. Does anybody think Bruce sets up to try and win or just not to lose the game? The lack of pressure work rate tackling etc seem to suggest to me that not losing and keeping everybody behind the ball is priority and as today’s footballing lesson showed us it does not and has not ever worked.

Brentford were everything we never are tonight and actually the last time we played away too. Energy tempo, pressure, talking, moving the ball, players moving of the ball. Basically every manager in the league seems more forward thinking than Bruce. I remember last year when we played Brentford thinking I’ve never seen a side be put under less pressure until tonight. We are so bad and this guy is such a poor manager. He has to go and so should round and wyness for their lazy approach to trying to run this club. A **** joke.

I think the answer to that is because we filled our head Scouts with journey men scouts who only do the lazy scouting like buying McCormack and hogan without assessing if they would actually work at villa. I’m not saying this in hindsight because i said it when we signed him but McCormack was always going to be a waste of money because he can’t run. -
I also think that we could well be as low as tenth and even play offs looking a distant hope by the end of the Bristol city game.

I think one of the big issues is that going forward we look so short of creativity and invention and even pace that we don’t look capable of destroying and teams so therefore no teams fear us. I’m watching Leeds and I don’t see us having a player like roofe or Hernandez. I think in a nut shell what I am saying is I think we are a poor side and as soon as we have lost Kodja and Terry we look a awful.

We won’t go up because we are really average, mid table crap. Going forward we look so short of ideas and we have strikers that don’t score. I’m not blaming Hogan as such but I’m not sure what the point of him is, he really does contribute bugger all. I don’t think/expect us to change manager this season but I think this shit is showing how poor Bruce is.

Really think this guy makes a big difference to us with the hold up play and add in the desire to make the box which created the space for Onama to play in snodgrass.

I agree I don't think they will sack him and I don't think they should either but knowing how mad the premier league is with managers I just put it out there as a possibility. Also I doubt he would join us anyway if he was available.

Just a thought here because i don't see Bruce getting sacked any time soon regardless of how poor a job he is doing. However if the right thing is done and Bruce is sacked I'm wondering if the stars could align. Eddie Howe could potentially get the sack from Bournemouth given the start they have had. I wanted Eddie Howe to replace Paul lambert and if he was out of a job I would love to see him come in. I know this is unlikely but just throwing it out there.

Agree yes we were but we would have gone down years before without lambert.

Completely of topic but lambert performed a miracle keeping us up and we went down the season after he was sacked. I'd have him back over Bruce any day. We just ground him down with the club set up.

Don't disagree with that although it couldn't get much worse but my problem is in this league I feel you need to put runs of 6,7,8 wins in a row together and I don't see that happening under Bruce because I don't see an away win in us at the moment and we need to win a few of them over the season.

Agree to disagree on this. It's all opinion but in my view being so far of promotion with the squad he has is unacceptable as is the lack of organisation.

Garbage again no creativity just boring and negative with no pressure on the opposition. I would love to be a midfielder against us, pick the ball up in acres of space nobody will pressure you so you can pick out any pass you want.

Like most only seen the highlights so don't want to get too carried away but this looks to me like one of those players where you don't need to look at loads of games before you see it the quality is obvious to me. I could be wrong and I am in no way comparing him but he has a drogba like style to him from what I see.

Can't even begin to say how bad Bruce is, I can't get a refund for my ticket but as soon as I saw the starting line up I wanted to walk out. I then put on talk sport and here Stuart Pearce being part of the old boys network saying how good a manager he is. For my own mental health and blood pressure I can't watch that team under that manager. i know people will say it's only the first game but I can see no way this manager will get this team into the top ten. Awful, boring same old crap.

I know we have bigger issues to worry about but at what point did Bruce look at the squad and decide left back was an urgent area that needs fixing.

What hope has hogan or any of the midfield got when our whole defence is so deep. It makes the pitch massive and we get picked off

Awful! Beaten in the air at the corner for the first goal because he can't mark then can't mark again from a corner and it's 2-0 and also this isn't just elphics fault but why do we defend so deep against everybody in every game.
