  1. Regarding your comparison with Delph: Westwood's played 123 games and he's 22. Delph had played 46 games and was 19 when we signed him. They are at totally different stages in their careers. MON bought Delph. Lambert bought Westwood. And Lambert has a better record with these things than MON. Haven't you been moaning on VillaTalk for a couple of days straight now? I think you might be addicted to arguing with people on message boards. Isn't it time just to relax and wait and see what happens?
  2. I thought when I saw him outside Villa Park on saturday he's freaking out all the time. He looks uncomfortable and low on confidence. It didn't fit with this idea of him being billy big bollocks.
  3. People moaning about Joe Bennet not being a signing ready for now, he has played 80 games for Boro. Lowton 80 games for Sheffield. They have first team experience they're not like brand new youth players.
  4. It took time for Everton to get those players though - 10 years of Moyes. We've also signed two players from Holland by the way. Premiership players have left us in a great position haven't they? We've had so many bad buys - at least that transfer policy has changed, that's a positive for you. Plenty of teams make good signings from lower leagues that work out and improve their squad. There's another positive. I was impressed by Lowton on Saturday. I think he'll be a good player. Lambert made the most of these types of signings for Norwich - that's another positive for you. We don't have Mcleish any more - POSITIVE. We are a bigger club than Norwich. After what Lambert achieved there, just think what he might do at Villa given time. Another positive. I don't think anybody thinks we have a good squad but at least the problems can begin to be fixed by a manager who comes across as having a clue and wants to play football the right way, and has a history of making astute signings from lower leagues. Positive. You seem like you need some help, so there you go.
  5. First day of the season away to a horrible West Ham side with a bunch of players who have hardly played together. At home to a buzzing Everton with the wrong team selection, its got nothing to do with just Joe Bennett solving it, its about getting team selection right to compete with Everton but that was never going to happen with some of the players picked and where they played. And guess what theres a good chance we will get beat this weekend but that still wont mean we are going to get relegated but no doubt a load of people will shit their pants over it. I didn't agree with the team selection but IMO I don't think it would have made much difference to the result. Theres a good chance we'll be on 0 points after 4 games and I think people have every right to be worried for the 3rd year in a row. We need quality to come straight into the side and be much better than what we have. I'm not seeing that happenning this window. Like I said, 2 days to bring in that quality. But unlike the last two years we have a manager who the fans can get behind. He got Norwich to overperform and hopefully he can do the same with Villa. I was there on Saturday and his signings were the best players in Villa shirts - it's only sensible to give him time before freaking out. It is only two games in. The transfer window is not shut yet. Respectfully, you are jumping the gun sir. And even if it is a struggle we will get better every year and every season with the policy of buying young hungry talent. It will take time so it's maybe best to relax a bit and enjoy the ride. Look at the last few years. Everton famously start badly and I'm sure some of their fans were saying the same as you. They never got relegated and they've just won the first two games this season - their manager has been there for 10 years and they've built a strong squad with little spending. You can think what you want but you are certainly focusing on the negatives. That is up to you but you will only make yourself miserable, and it's frikking boring to read it post after post on a transfer speculation thread. There are positives and you choose to ignore them.
  6. Can someone start a new thread for people losing the plot after two games where they can go and moan. It'll be a padded thread with no windows. That way this one can go back on topic.
  7. As if it wasn't obvious, the internet is now officially full of people talking out of their bums. This makes me question the way I apply my time. I think there's something better to do
  8. It was probably the best thing he did all season so no surprise he remembers it! Bannan's got a chance for a fresh start after last season, and he's perhaps one who needs it most, as he faded badly after the driving thing and then hardly getting in the (underperforming) team. He is definitely good with the ball, but it's a question of applying it at the top level - can he make the right passes at the right time, etc. And that's also partly down to whether manager plays a system in which he fits. Certainly would be an attribute in the team for dead ball situations and a deep-lying playmaker role might be where he fits, if alongside the right players It's the only thing he's ever done! I remember it and I'm not Barry Bannan, why wouldn't he? I remember this amazing flick I did at school about 11 years ago. And this back-heel I did out of defence which was too smooth. I also remember missing a header in the last minute of a knockout game, shiiiit. I'll stop now
  9. The second half cuts out after about 12 minutes in all
  10. They're up but it says the score! IDIOTS!!!!!!!! Someone needs to sort that out. They need a spoiler free link the nobs.
  11. Where is it!? It's not up yet. The official site lied.
  12. As if nationality/someone's entire upbringing doesn't have an effect on who they are and how they perform in whatever they do. I believe in the Aussie mentality, even if there are still blatant similarities between all people, your heritage still has an effect. The way I see it, surely skill is some potential developed within the combination of someone's upbringing and mentality.
  13. Er, how would you know? He was ahead with Lowton.
  14. http://twitter.com/simontee76 We'll find out I suppose. IKN or ITK?
  15. If I knew any more than anyone else then I'd have bet more  There's o n e person on twitter who really knew about Lowton before it happened and that's what I'm going on, he says Brahimi is done now too. It's a bet! I'm just convinced by the internet again (it doesn't always go well). This guy isn't one of the ITK people, just a person (yeah, itk though).
  16. Ten pounds each says you're both wrong.
  17. Anyone got a picture of the home shirt with the collar tucked in please? I'm intrigued!
  18. Even if he gets british players like MON he doesn't play football like MON. It seems an unnecessary stigma. He changes his teams and has different tactics so it would be nothing like with MON.
  19. You know something don't you? mantis you should know by now I know lots ;-) Islingtonclaret, there us no :!: as I am not making an OGS mistake I just wanted to be the first to say Welcome Paul and you can take that however you want ;-) Why be like this?
