  1. I think it's just some forum members having a bit of fun. Probably same ones that managed to get the line that Mcleish to Villa had fallen through onto Talksport and the like.
  2. Ridgewell is gonna be too busy dodging coins to get to the switch. Ex-Villa, blunder prone horse/man goes in hot and heavy to seal a transfer and ends up stuck there with the knuckledraggers. Not a recipe for success. It's gonna suck to be him for the next few weeks.
  3. Everton have had a shocker but I would argue Sunderland have had the worst window, pissing away millions on poor players and in doing so wasting their one opportunity to push on. Stoke have done some good business and while Spurs have cleared some of their dead wood off the wage bill they did miss out on Cahill in the end.
  4. ^^ Jesus christ, the only way they could have got **** over more is if they had gone to wonga.com
  5. Houllier took over at a difficult time and and never got a pre-season to really put his stamp on the team. He served up some awful results and some dreadful performances but I could accept that because I felt like we would progress into becoming a far better team in the long run and I still believe this would have been the case. What we see now is pretty much the finished article, this is as good as we are going to be (apart from maybe zog who will start putting in the odd motm here and there) we are not going to progress as a team and the longer Mcleish is here the more this will hurt us in the years to come. We have made a solid enough start against some very mediocre opposition but given the hatchet job that has been done on the squad (not Mcleish's fault before I get jumped on) we will inevitably burn out before Christmas and then anything is unfortunately possible. We have seen plenty of times just how drastic a slide we are capable of when this happens but we'll be doing it from a mid-table start point this time round. I make no apologies for the fact I didn't want Mcleish, I don't want Mcleish and will never never want Mcleish as part of my football club.
  6. Fantastic event with some great action and a wild crowd, thoroughly enjoyed it! Special mention for the Palhares Prelim fight, has that ever happened before? I was expecting the source of some controversy to be revealed in the replay, but no, the ref never did a thing and he just sprinted off to leap on the cage and celebrate without the fight being stopped! The Nog KO was great for the insane crowd reaction and watching Silva is a privilege as decades from now the way he is taking people apart will be the stuff of legend. Saying that Okami fought a stupid fight, it's quite clear the only shot you have against Silva is to take him down and he didn't even try, instead choosing to trade standing and look like a fool. Also as far as I remember not a single submission attempt on the entire show which is quite odd!
  7. Can't believe I'm seeing some of the same people backing Ireland to come good if he gets a fair chance slating Makoun Next they'll be telling me all Curcic needed was a run of games and Savo was just clearing his throat at Blackburn. For me Makoun always looked a quality player and given a chance could have been very important for us. Then again with Houllier gone who's to say he wants to be here right now, maybe were doing the best deal we can with a want-away player?
  8. Fair play, glad to see him flourishing, even if it does still feel a bit wrong to not see him in claret and blue. End of the day he had got more winners medals in the bank after his debut than his entire time with us so how can you hold a grudge. Good luck to the guy.
  9. Point was about right, two very mediocre teams trading blows. Got to feel sorry for Bent, made some great runs and got into some good positions time and again only for the ball to never come. Gabby was lively, Nzog was patchy and looked more interested in making himself look good than benefit the team. Petrov had a strange one at times looking at his best and other moments where he was a complete liability. Overall we looked solid enough and created some good chances but there were long periods where our play was very slow and predictable.
  10. Lonely £24m striker would like to meet Support for goals and good times. PO BOX B6
  11. Games there for the taking if someone wants to go for it. Not sure what's going on with our centre-mid, not supporting the attack consistently and wolves are walking through them to get at our defence. Gabby has been sharp but has 2-3 players on him, Heskey has been impressive. Feel sorry for Bent, been too many occasions where he's been in good positions and the ball hasn't gone to him. Overall so far its been two poor teams being poor.
  12. But he didn't go over clean, Cena had his foot on the ropes. Punk has gone from the legit, albeit disputed, champ to a guy who won on a ref error and then lost in 16 seconds after being destroyed by a 52 year old man. They have clawed this angle back from the brink over and over again but I think the writing is on the wall now especially with Steph and Nash now in the mix. Unfortunately due to circumstances out of his control Punk is leaking credibility as a top guy at an alarming rate. Imagine if when Bret Hart first won the title a few weeks later Superstar Billy Graham had returned and beat the shit out of him.
  13. "Look how far and high I can kick it boss!" "Well done son, lets keep it going for the next 37 games." To be fair it's been a pretty lackluster start to the season all round although I guess a Bolton fan might disagree
  14. It liked it when Sheff Wed won the toss and had the advantage of taking pens infront of their home seats That behind the player view was epic, four ball boys and a sea of plastic,
  15. The Carling Cup has really caught the imagination of the Sheff Wednesday fans!! Just watched the keeper launch it from one end of the field to the other and as the camera panned out I think I saw about 35 people in total. That includes 22 players the ref and both linesmen by the way!!!
  16. Blimey, that's a really good question? Ireland will have to play for both!! The keepers will have to play out on the pitch too. Jeez, I hope this board knows what it's doing. You can have Ireland in one and the other team play with 10 men. That sounds fair to me
  17. Can't get too upset as it is just a friendly but a cause for some concern as we seem to once again be in a position where once you get past the first eleven the quality just isn't there. It's cost us places in the past but I worry just how much it might cost us if we don't hit the ground running this season. On the plus side this result has certainly helped in getting me prepared for the long season ahead :winkold:
  18. This! I think he'll be great for us this season and will silence a lot of critics! This is just wishful thinking, with all due respect. All the evidence so far suggests he will offer us very little. And what evidence would that be? I'm guessing it's the evidence of him actually playing for us Exactly! Nobody is "doubting" him, we know he's shite, it's there for all to see.
  19. Good promo, leave the title scene to cena and del rio as punk doesn't need it anyway. HHH vs Punk looks like it could take off even more than Punk vs Cena.
