  1. The players attitudes are obviously very worrying but I do sympathise with some of the issues that have been raised recently. If it is true that Dunne was playing with injury and then questioned the training methods for the defence then surely he has a right to do that? It's obvious that the defence has massive problems this season and yet last season we looked really solid. Is that down to the players or the coaching they are getting? You can't make players at the wrong end of their careers become a different player over night. They are rugged, clear the danger type centre backs. They are not stylish, play the ball around types that they have on the continent. Also, don't we have the same fitness coach that was at the World Cup during the French fiasco? Surely that says something in its own right. Petrov was bemoaning the fitness training earlier in the season, when he said that the next step up from this was death! Surely all of the injuries cannot be down to pure bad luck or coincidence? There is also the fact of moving the players closer to the club. I don't know about the rest of you but I couldn't give a toss if they lived on the moon as long as they play their hearts out when it comes around to kick-off on match day. I also think that the players will feel cheated. They were sold a vision of where the club was supposed to be going. Imagine joining a club that had 2 x 6th place finishes and being told of the ambition of getting into the Champions League, only to find that the manager then has a sell-to-buy policy and then has to offload the clubs best player to one of our biggest rivals for a top 4 place! Then the manager leaves you all to it and decides that being unemployed is a better option than leading you lot into battle again. He and the players know that reaching the CL is just impossible without further investment and that baby lies with the owner. All these things add up and will inevitably lead to an unhappy atmosphere around the camp so I personally have sympathy for the players. OK, I know they have a big salary to ease those nasty little surprises but doesn't questioning the tactis and training methods show that they do actually care? Sometimes it is better to make the man who makes these decisions look a fool than it is to try your best and still come up short. I think it is clear for all to see that we will not have enough funds to bring in enough players to replace the troublemakers so really it is going to be a case of play them and hope for the best from them. If the training methods don't change, and you would have to think that as unlikely, we have to hope for a change of heart from the players. Given the fact most are facing the axe anyway, why would they give their all? Surely the best way out of this is to change the management set up and bring in someone who can get the best out of the players from now until the end of the season?
  2. Because the youngsters see us as a club where they can advance their careers and develop. Those senior players came here believing the hype that we would become a challnger for the top four. they bought into the previous managers vision through the owners previous financing. then, all that financing dried up and the previous manager himself realised that the dream was now going to be impossible without further investment. He left and now those senior players are left to try to pick up the pieces. The new boss comes in and changes everything they were comfortable with and now they can't be bothered. On the other hand, the younger players are going to get their heads down and try their best because suddenly they see a chance to cement a place in the side. They aren't on the 40 and 50 grand per week so they are knckling down and being good boys so that they can try to get to that level of pay. If they were on that much and come here after being sold a vision, I bet they too would be playing without a care and look pissed off!
  3. Ditto *DITTO is the new ECHO that was the new THIS
  4. This is a much better looking Villa midfield today and that is where this game will be won or lost. They have no Tevez for us to worry about and their defence looks a bit weaker with Lescott in it. I can't help but feel that Mancini has looked at our recent performances and thought it a good time to give some of his better performers a rest, which on recent form you could understand. Let's hope that our returning players can make him look foolish! Put it this way, that's about as weak a Man City starting line up as we could have wished for really. With that in mind, I would be well pissed off we we lost by more than 2 goals in this game!
  5. I was 20 back then and loving it Didn't your Dad sit you on the barrier so you could see?
  6. Some don't realise but this would also have obvious benefits for those people who wish not to stand at a football game. If the Lower Holte was converted and maybe the Lower North too, through the re-development, people would still have four sides of the stadium in which to sit. This way, everyone's a winner!
  7. As far as i know you are still allocated a seat. What a great idea! Totally agree with you B6! The problem with the old Holte End was that you could get crushed or knocked about a bit if it was packed and everyone got over-excited - yes guys, it did used to happen!! I recall many a time when the crowd went crazy (let's go **** mental....) and you could get pushed around a bit. These seats ^ would take that problem away. You are only going to get knocked about by the person to the left or right of you and that ain't so bad. I mean, I got a black eye at the Man Utd game when we scored our second and that was only 'cos I ran into the guys behind to celebrate the goal! Tell you what else I like about that arrangement above; the fact that the fans can sway from side to side and create a brilliant atmosphere and spectacle. It is perfect for choreographed support, which is something we could do with down the Villa these days.
  8. I feel sorry for you Lapal. You missed the days when football was much more fun to go to. There is nothing like standing at the footie. I used to love it when we could stand in the Holte End. You had a choice too, the left side or the right side. The fans used to have banter between themselves "Left side, give us a song. Left side, left side, give us a song. shhhhhhh" and then the left side would sing a song and then it would be "can you hear the right side sing no, no, ......" it was brilliant and the atmosphere was so much better than it is these days. I am glad that a few people voted no to be honest, otherwise this might have been worthless. I did think twice about it as it might have come across as a stupid question I just wanted as many folks to vote yes as possible so that, if the General or someone else at the club takes a look, they will see just how many people want to be able to stand at Villa Park. Imagine how great it would be if every forum of every club ran a poll like this and it ended up with something like 98% of 2 million people said yes they would prefer a safe standing area? maybe then the authorities would listen!
  9. MON's XI made a comment in the General's thread with regards to a bill being passed through parliament to see if we can get safe standing areas introduced at stadia in this country. How many Villa fans would vote for this to happen at Villa Park? I for one would love to see this happen and I am sure that many others would too. It would help create a much better atmosphere and give an alternative match day experience, especially to those who are too young to have ever had the chance to stand (legally) at a football match. It would be interesting to see what kind of numbers would want safe standing at Villa Park. Quite a lot I would imagine!
  10. I will always renew my ticket as long as it is within my financial capability. What goes on at the club will always bother me but it won't stop me from going to support the club.
  11. The club was here a long time before GH, and will remain so a long time after he has left. If we lose to West Brom AND Wigan, then we can start to ask questions, but can anyone honestly say they thought the side we were forced to put our against Liverpool was anywhere near capable of beating them? Yes, I did. I wasn't overly confident but a Liverpool team without Gerrard, Carragher and Torres isn't exactly making me shite myself either. We played their full strnegth team, including Mascherano and benayoun, last season and beat them 3-1. Our defence that day included Beye, Shorey, Cuellar and Davies. The midfield included NRC and Sidwell, who both went on to spend most of the season warming the bench. Those 6 played and we won 3-1 and they would normally be on the bench so yes I did think we could get something out of this game. I would have been even more confident if he had played The Fonz up front alone with Gabby on the left, Albrighton on the right and a 3 man midfield of Downing, Warnock and Clark. Cuellar at RB and Young at LB. It would have been a lot sturdier and a lot more experienced IMO.
  12. Including the Albion game this saturday, I had us down to win 12-15 points from the last 30. if we beat the baggies, and that's a big if right now, we will have amassed just 10 points from that run of games. So then I look to the next 10 games from now: 11 Dec, 15:00 Aston Villa v West Bromwich Albion Premier League 18 Dec, 15:00 Wigan Athletic v Aston Villa Premier League 26 Dec, 17:30 Aston Villa v Tottenham Hotspur Premier League 28 Dec, 15:00 Manchester City v Aston Villa Premier League January 2 Jan, 13:30 Chelsea v Aston Villa Premier League 5 Jan, 19:45 Aston Villa v Sunderland Premier League 16 Jan, 12:00 Birmingham City v Aston Villa Premier League 22 Jan, 17:30 Aston Villa v Manchester City Premier League February 1 Feb, 20:00 Manchester United v Aston Villa Premier League 5 Feb, 15:00 Aston Villa v Fulham Premier League I am predicting a minimum of 9 points - with defeats against Man City x 2, Man Utd, Chelsea & Spurs. We should be capable of beating Fulham at home and I am fancying draws away at Blues and Wigan plus draws against WBA and Sunderland. That would leave possibly leave us on 26 points after 26 games, which is very worrying! The last 12 games would then be: 12 Feb, 15:00 Blackpool v Aston Villa Premier League 26 Feb, 15:00 Aston Villa v Blackburn Rovers Premier League March 5 Mar, Bolton Wanderers v Aston Villa Premier League 19 Mar, Aston Villa v Wolverhampton Wanderers Premier League April 2 Apr, Everton v Aston Villa Premier League 9 Apr, Aston Villa v Newcastle United Premier League 16 Apr, West Ham United v Aston Villa Premier League 23 Apr, Aston Villa v Stoke City Premier League 30 Apr, West Bromwich Albion v Aston Villa Premier League May 7 May, Aston Villa v Wigan Athletic Premier League 14 May, 15:00 Arsenal v Aston Villa Premier League 22 May, 16:00 Aston Villa v Liverpool Premier League The optimist in me sees plenty of points from that lot. But we got a return of 8 points from the corresponding fixtures against those that were in our league last season. That leaves Blackpool away, WBA away & Newcastle home. You could argue that we would get maybe 5 points from that lot, added to the 8 points would only give us a further 13 points and a season total of 39. If we have got only 30 points with 7 or 8 games to go I will be very concerned.
  13. Hi General, I just wanted to point out to you these statistics for last season's equivalent of last night's fixture: Monday, 24 August 2009 Liverpool 1-3 Aston Villa FT (HT 0-2) Liverpool = Torres 72 A Villa = Lucas (og) 34, Davies 45+2, A Young (pen) 75 Liverpool Team 25 Reina (yellow card) 02 G Johnson 22 Insua 23 Carragher 37 Skrtel (yellow card) 08 Gerrard 15 Benayoun (Babel 75) 20 Mascherano 21 Lucas (Voronin 66) 09 Torres (yellow card) 18 Kuyt Substitutes 01 Cavalieri, 34 Kelly, 38 Dossena, 40 Ayala, 11 Riera, 10 Voronin, 19 Babel Aston Villa Team 01 Friedel 15 Davies 21 Shorey 23 Beye 24 Cuellar 04 Sidwell 07 A Young (yellow card) (Heskey 80) 08 Milner 19 Petrov 20 Reo-Coker (yellow card) 11 Agbonlahor Substitutes 22 Guzan, 12 Albrighton, 16 Delph, 26 Gardner, 45 Lowry, 14 Delfouneso, 18 Heskey I know that we have injuries General but nobody, and I mean nobody, can tell me that our injuries last night hurt us more than Liverpool's injuries hurt them. They had lost the core of their team from back to front and still outplayed us. I say outplay because possession means nothing if you can't even muster more than one shot worthy of mention! Look at their team from last season's fixture General. They had a full strength side out and we beat them well. We beat them with our second string defence! Shorey was an outcast and Beye was nothing more than 3rd choice for right back. Cuellar and Davies were back-up centre back’s. Yet, that team went to Anfield and played their socks off and came away with a well deserved victory. Last night's side would only really have been improved by Ashley Young, Petrov and maybe NRC being in the side. Let's suppose that those 3 were playing and Liverpool had their main 3 of Gerrard, Torres and Carragher playing. What would the score have been then? I believe it could have been a lot more than a 3 goal deficit . Something is clearly not right and it is more than just injuries. The defenders were brilliant last season yet this season they look like rabbits caught in the headlights every time the ball goes near them. They are obviously uncomfortable with having to try to play their way out of trouble. That doesn't make them bad defenders. It just means they are being asked to do something they are neither familiar or comfortable with. I have a few words of caution for the club General. Martin O’Neil assembled a team of hard working players. He bought players to do a job and for him they did it well. We just needed extra bodies in to help them out. It seems to me that these players will only be able to play to the best of their ability when they have a MON type of manager in charge of them. By that I mean someone who will stand on the touchline and bellow out orders for 90+ minutes to keep the players on their toes. If Randy sticks by Gerard Houllier he may well have to spend as much again as he gave to MON because the current players are not going to become someone they aren’t and they will need replacing with players who are comfortable with playing their way out of trouble. In fact, maybe GH will need more money than MON because the better the quality of player you buy, the more you pay. The question Randy will have to ask himself is, do I bankroll such a change in playing personnel or do I find another management team that can manage this type of player and who won't need as much to spend on improving the team? Personally, I would be a nervous wreck giving GH that amount of money to spend with his previous transfer dealing history. I have stood by GH throughout his difficult start and I still would have preferred to see him manage a full strength Villa side. The trouble is General, he has lost my respect for him. You tell us that he sees what we see. You also said that he had a great knowledge of our game and had kept up to date with the English Premier League whilst working for the French FA. Well, anyone with a good knowledge of our game would surely know that playing Stephen Ireland in the centre of a four man midfield would be leaving your team wide open. Ireland is an attacking midfielder General. He has never really shown an ability for getting stuck in and doing a defensive job. He needs to be playing in a five man midfield where he can roam forward and get in on the action in the opposing third. Steven Warnock has previously played centre midfield for Blackburn so why not put him into that position and play Luke Young at left back for a short period until we get some much needed bite back. Cuellar can fill in at right back. Of course, we wouldn’t have to ask the latter pair to play out of position if we hadn’t parted company with THREE left backs in the summer! I did warn that this would come back to haunt us. Finally - and this is the main reason for me losing respect for GH – I watched the game on TV last night and couldn’t believe (well, actually I could!) how fantastic our support was, even when we were three down and looking weary. The fans were out-singing the famous Kop on their home soil. The fans had nothing to cheer on a freezing Monday night and yet they made more noise than the supposed famous Liverpool supporters. The Villa faithful chanted Houllier’s name loud and proud. The touching of the badge on his way out was a bit rude I thought but then, on live TV, he was asked what he thought of the Liverpool fans' reaction to him. To which he replied “They were great. The banner was great too”. Would it really have hurt him to say “The Liverpool fans gave me a great return. However, I have to say that the Villa fans were great tonight. We didn’t give them a lot to sing about but their support was fantastic”. I mean seriously General, is it that difficult to show his own fans some respect? Martin O’Neil had many faults but he always thanked the fans for their support, even after they had occasionally booed his team, which he took offence at, he still praised the support for the team! I have previously found Houllier’s comments about Liverpool disrespectful to us because it is Aston Villa that he now manages – not Liverpool FC. But, I put up with them because I thought that they would soon die down. Last night was the final straw for me General. Those Villa fans were amazing and to be ignored by their own manager after a woeful performance like that is nothing short of disgraceful. Personally, I can’t see GH turning things around because we don’t look to have the fight needed in us under his management. Right now, I could only see us staying up because the others around us won’t get enough points to avoid being relegated. If it does come down to a dogfight, I worry for us! I know that sounds like I am panicking but the players coming back aren't all going to be able to play. We have a few players who have no need to bust a gut for us because they will soon be playing elsewhere and the injured players are going to need time to get back to full match fitness anyway. Ok we might buy new players in January but you have warned us yourself many times about the type of quality that becomes available at that time of year. We also have to remember another two things. 1) Any new signings will need time to adjust and settle in to their new surroundings (time we may not be able to afford). 2) Houllier's transfer dealings of the past have left a lot to be desired so it's not even a certainty that he will bring in the quality needed to turn things around. It is up to the club whether or not they keep Gerard Houllier. The trouble is General, the decision to keep him might lead the fans to turn their vitriol towards the board instead. So here is my question to you General, well, more a plea for you to ask yourself a question actually. Please ask yourself if you can genuinely see GH getting the turnaround needed to save our season. As a fan General, ask yourself that question and answer it honestly. I don't mean on an open forum either. I know that it wouldn't be right for you to come on here and berate our manager in public and I certainly wouldn't want to see that from you. Whatever the board decides is going to be very important for the future of AVFC. I just hope it makes the right decision for the club. Up The Villa!!!!
  14. Hi General, Hope you are well and looking forward to a nice Christmas. I was very disappointed with the defeat to Blues on Wednesday. I was going to reply sooner but wanted to take the time to reflect on the game first. I don't buy what some people said about us being unlucky. Yes we had lots of possession but it is arguable that Blues had better chances, especially the one where Jerome was clean through on goal and shot wide. I would actually say that we were very lucky in the game. Had we not had our most lenient officiating for a long time, we would have been 2-0 down and Gabby's goal would have been disallowed. On top of this, Hogg would have been eventually sent off in the game because he should have received a yellow card for the two-footed challenge on Bowyer in the first half. I don't mind Hogg kicking lumps out of Bowyer, I am merely pointing out the fact that a less lenient ref would have taken stronger action. There were also quite a few decisions that went our way when they clearly should have gone to Blues, and to top it all off, the ref even played six and a half minutes injury time at the end of the game when five minutes had been shown by the 4th official. I have stood by Gerard Houllier all season and think he has had a tough intorduction to his managerial career at Villa. Obviously the timing wasn't great and neither is the fact that he had lost, arguably, the club's best player. Add to this the fact we didn't even name a squad of 25 players that we were allowed. Also, he had to find his own coaches, as the previous manager had taken his guys with him. Then of course we go and get the worst batch of injuries that I can ever remember. All in all it has been a tough time to take charge of us. For all these reasons I have stood by GH and will continue to do so until he has been given at least a season and half and had 2-3 transfer windows to work in and a full pre-season. Only then can we really judge him, unless of course he seemingly loses the plot and/or we are languishing near the bottom after say 25 games. However, I have to say that I think he got a few things wrong on Wednesday night. We started the game with Ash further forward alongside Gabby, with Bannan, who has been playing great in the centre of midfield, playing on the right wing. I for one think this was a big mistake. Bannan was having a good second half by moving into the centre of his own accord and we looked better for it. Then, suddenly, GH took him off and brought on a player who I am not sure is entirely happy to be here. Ireland's attitude stinks. I can handle a player not having enough ability but the basics of challenging to win a ball are a minimum requirement for me and Ireland just doesn't seem too interested in getting his shirt dirty, General. Not one for you to take into the trenches I would say! His introduction also resulted in Gabby spending most of the remainder of the game on the left wing, which is very strange given the fact he was our only recognised stirker on the pitch and he had already scored! Then GH goes and makes a further two substitutions at a time when it looked very unlikely they would make a difference. surely the changes should have been made as soon as we went behind? I think that Gerard made some costly mistakes on Wednesday General and the tinkering with the defence has also had a negative effect on the side. We were the 4th best defence last season and now we are leaking goals for fun. I understand that GH may want to try to keep possession of the football a bit more but maybe he should wait until he brings in his own players before he starts messing with that tactic. Or, at least wait until we have some of the other senior players back to add a bit more steel to the midifled! I think Paul summed it up in an earlier post. You can't ask players of the age of Dunne and Collins to suddenly become Bobby Moore. If we continue with this tactic we are going to continue to concede a lot of goals in my opinion. It seems that the opposing teams will try to exploit this by pressing us higher up the pitch around our final third and I just don't believe that either Dunne or Collins have the natural football ability to play their way out of trouble. Don't get me wrong General, I like both players but MON didn't buy them to play keep-ball, he bought them to clear their lines and stop opposing forwards from scoring. Under MON's style of management both players looked more than capable of that. I just don't see them being able to look as good playing the new style that GH is trying to introduce. I keep the faith that all will work out well General. I will say one thing though. The fans know their football and Gerard's mistakes will not go unnoticed and if results don't pick up when the injured players come back, the fans will soon start to lose faith in him. The problem Randy might have is this. The classy players, who are comfortable on the ball, don't come cheap. MON assembled a bunch of hard working players who gave their all as a unit. If Gerard tries to introduce a better quality of play, Randy may well have to invest another substantial amount of money to make it happen. I hope that Randy is prepared for that because the better quality players always cost more. Take care General. The vast majority are still behind you, Randy, Gerard and everyone else at the club. Like I said to you before, at least the younger players are getting chance to show what they are made of and I think they have shown a few of the senior players up recently!
  15. Come on avfcGoodie, I know our injury crisis is bad but surely you're not suggesting...... :winkold: On a serious note General. I too think it would be nice to have Juan Pablo Angel back as a guest of honour or something for one of our home games.
  16. I'm in two minds about this one to be honest. My initial thought was that, if we play against these like we played against Blackpool in the first half, we will get hammered. My second thought was, I think we play better against the less physical teams, and although Man Utd aren't exactly tiny, they are not going to be as big and imposing as Blackpool were. I would prefer us to put Downing in the centre with Young and Clark and move Bannan out to the left. I would just prefer to see a little bit more experience in the centre of midfield against United. It will be difficult with whatever team we put out so a draw is the very best I see us getting TBF.
  17. Folks, I don't know what people will think of this but... I work with a lady who has set up a website called Learn to believe. It is a spiritual site about believing in God, which she clearly does. Yesterday I joked with her about saying a prayer for a Villa victory and she asked me to post the request on her website. I tried to do this but for some reason couldn't manage to do it due to being at work and having restricted access. Anyway, she said she would pray for a Villa victory for me and low and behold we got one! She says that she cannot promise anything good will happen but she is willing to ask God for his help in our time of need. Now, we all know that this won't mean a win all the time, otherwise we would be Champions League winners next season and that clearly is beyond even the great man, surely? :winkold: I am not religiously minded but any kind of help is better than none at all IMO. So today she asked me to post something on here to thank her for her prayers, which is what she asked me to do before I left work yesterday, should we win. So, this is me saying thanks to her for her prayers and keeping my side of the bargain. Obviously, the request will be going in again for Saturday's game against Manure because we will probably need a lot more help for that one If anyone else feels the need for some kind of divine intervention, you can leave your prayers for a Villa victory here www.learntobelieve.webs.com (another side of the agreement was to put her web address on here) By the way, she aims to set up a page especially for Villa fans to leave their requests.
  18. It was a great goal for the lad last night but I think it's a bit unfair of people to suggest that Gabby would have missed it. I know that Gabby has missed a few chances in his time but look at some of the quality goals he has scored. I personally would love to see a game whereby we play a 4-4-2 formation with Gabby and The Fonz up front. I think they could link up really well together.
  19. Hi General, I just want to say that I thought the lads played much better today. There were a lot of young lads out there today and they did well considering. I thought we played some of our best football of this season and that we were unlucky not to hold out for the win. I think the ref could have helped us a little. It was a bit naive of Albrighton to get so close to Duff but he clearly bought the foul and the ref fell for it, together with allowing more time than was added, which turned out to be just enough for the ball to go in - typical of our luck! I understand the frustrations of the folks who bemoan the lack of goal threat but clearly that was down to MON's lack of vision in the market. I am still convinced that we would be playing Champions League football this season if MON had the vision to buy Darren Bent, but that's all in the past now and so is that manager. MON spent millions concentrating on all other areas of the team, hopefully the forward line will be the area that Gerard Houllier concentrates on, together with a decent ball-winning midfielder and someone who can unlock stubborn defences. I think that we are probably only 4 real quality players short of having a great squad and I just hope that Randy can spare the cash in order for Gerard to put his mark on the team. It's going to get difficult soon General. We have a very tough run of games coming up and with all our injuries, it is going to be a tough time. Hopefully, the lads will come out of it ok though and be better for the experience.
  20. We deserved to win that game, no doubt. they had a couple of clear cut chances that they wasted but the same could definitely be said about us. Ash Young is poor in front of goal and very wasteful. Ireland did ok when he came on and made a couple of very good passes that sent us away on the break, from which Ash could have done a lot better. Bannan played very well in the first half but faded a bit in the second. Downing was quality today and so were all of our defenders. The Fonz and Albrighton were quality at times but also wasteful in front of goal. Clark played well again when he came on and made a couple of cracking challenges. Friedel was glued to the goal line for their goal but to be fair it was a bombardment from their players as they went up for the ball. Unfortunately for us the ref should have already blown as the header came after the 4 minutes of added time were up, typical! All in all it was a promising display from us but we really need to start being more clinical in front of goal.
  21. If Rob agrees to lower the prices of alcohol, allow standing and singing at Villa Park and allow the sty to be converted back to a gypsy caravan site, he gets my vote and all of my family's votes too!
  22. I just wanted to get the thoughts of all Villa fans, regarding the City council's decision to reduce our allocation for the cup game with small heath from 4,500 to 3,800. The General mentions in his thread that this is due to our fans persistent standing. Yet, the Blues fans constantly stand at Villa Park and throw in some violence and vandalism for good measure. Was their allocation for the recent derby game reduced? Also, the same City council has given the go-ahead for a Take That concert to be staged at Villa Park, where there will no doubt be 100s/1,000s of people standing and singing throughout the event. We Villa fans are clearly being treated unfairly by the council and, being a citizen of Birmingham, this particularly pisses me off because this is the council to which I pay my taxes. Are there any Villa fans who actually think we aren't being treated unfairly? or is everyone in agreement that the council seems to have it in for us a little?
  23. Hi General, I have to add my weight to the folks complaining about the city council. I think that's exactly what they are, Birmingham City's council! I mean, how can they justify reducing our allocation when the fans from Small Heath always stand when visiting our stadium? Also, they are always thuggish and vandalising our stadium. I trust that the club has pointed this out to the powers that be at City's council? I also like the point that Steaknchips made. How does the council justify allowing people to stand and sing at a pop concert when they won't allow it at the same venue when the activity it was built for is in operation? Can you confirm whether or not the club has asked this question? and if we have, can you tell us what the response was, please?
  24. Hi General, I think you may have gotten the point regarding the guy who was ejected for heading the ball back into play and falling over the hoardings. I just want to say that something funny and harmless as turned into something that as shown the club's stewarding in a very poor light and hopefully the man will get an apology and partial refund, if he was indeed removed from the stadium. Also, can you please confirm whose idea it is to allow the away fans to exit the stadium at the same time as the Villa fans? We came out of the North Stand yesterday to witness a scene of mayhem with fans fighting and innocent people getting injured by objects being thrown in our direction from the Blues fans section, across the road in Witton Lane. We were sort of backed up against the wall of the North Stand Lower entrance and what did the stewards do? they closed the doors! Seriously General, people were getting injured and all the stewards cared about was their own safety. One guy, who looked like someone with authority, came outside to tell all his staff to get inside asap. They then proceeded to close the doors as quickly as possible. There was just one door left open when I noticed a middle aged lady had been hit in the head by an object and she was dazed and quite upset. I pointed her out to one of the few stewards remaining outside and this guy allowed the lady and her partner back inside. There were a lot of youngsters outside too and luckily the stewards started to allow people back inside so that they could exit through the back of the North Stand and to a safer area within the confines of the car park. We exited through this part of the stand and we were shocked to find around a dozen Police Officers standing at the top of the stairs having a nice cosy chat. My Uncle was incensed by this and made his thoughts clear to one of the officers. How can these people justify stading around chatting whilst people are getting injured just yards away from them outside? The above officer in question said that it was the club's idea to allow the away fans to exit at the same time as us. Can you please confirm that this is the case? and, if so, why does the club do this? Surely it would make more sense and be safer for everyone involved if the away fans were kept behind for say 30 minutes after the game so that the home fans can make there way home without any trouble.
  25. The night after the win over Blackburn, I had a dream that I was sat at home, dressed in my Villa gear and waiting for my brother to get ready, so that we could leave for Wembley for the cup final, against West Brom! With that in mind, I am hoping that we avoid them in the next round. We were poor against Burnley but we got through and our lads will be smelling the Wembley turf again already. I fancy us against anyone at home and all but Arsenal away. My preferred draw would be this, Villa v Ipswich Man Utd v Arsenal Albion v Blues Wigan v West Ham Semi draw of: Wigan v Villa Albion v Man Utd Villa v Albion final Winners = Villa
