Have you not considered that maybe even the top brass at Villa don't know themselves whether they will keep Lambert? If they don't know yet then I can't see them suddenly deciding he's the right man. Like I said there's nothing pointing to him staying.

I wouldn't necessarily say he's built a better squad, i'd say he's built a squad as good as Mcleish's squad but it's been been on a small amount of money and has scope to be worth more than was paid for it. I can't see any scenario in which Lambert stays. If that was the plan then they'd have said that already and Lambert wouldn't keep saying he doesn't know.

Still can't believe he didn't getting a chance after scoring in the cup. I agree completly with the argument about him being ready. How different can he be in a few months when the season starts.

I don't see this investment thing. Why would a wealthy man only want to own part of a struggling premiership team? What's in it for them?

But until recently Lambert's biggest supporters consistently told us that Lambert had signed better players than the ones he let go and that he was right to bomb out other players and they weren't good enough. So after being told he's built a better squad than McLeish had why are we getting the same results? I saw someone else mention instant results last season. Well honestly how many predicted a relegation battle last season? Again I'd say his biggest supporters expected an instant improvement on McLeish. Yet now both of these things have changed. Now it seems there was no other way than 2 relegation battles when the mention of 1 was mocked and laughed at previously. And the comparison with mcleish's squad changes. Are the players Lambert signed better than the ones he replaced? We're told so often but then Lambert's praised for surviving with them whereas McLeish was a shit manager for doing the same.

It sounds like spurs are a mess so let's see if we can end on a high.

Lerner hasn't upped his game in 8 years here or at the Browns. Can't see it happening now. Needs to go.

I think he's overrated big time but he's not the only one. He's decent and has good qualities but I think he's lower prem standard. Delph is the only midfield player good enough for getting us higher. We need a good DM and a creative am to play with delph. Westwood would be a good squad player.

Has Lambert really fulfilled the obligations. I struggle to believe that Lerner/Faulkner sacked McLeish and paid him and his coaching staff millions in compensation and simply expected more of the same for two years under a new manager. McLeish worked on a transfer budget of minus 20 mill and was also cutting the wage bill. Two relegation battles including if we are defeated on Sunday our worst ever Prem season (based on points and goal difference) and embarrassing cup defeats to lower league opposition whilst more often than not serving up dire football couldn't have been what Lerner saw as being acceptable two years ago. Had he have done he would have saved himself a few quid and kept McLeish. I would be amazed if Lambert was here next season. The only person I'd imagine who would be more surprised is Paul Lambert himself. Very good point mark. Why not keep McLeish if this level of performance and results are what's all that's expected?

If we're getting taken over by the two rumoured candidates I don't think we have to worry about FFP. They'll know what they're doing or they'll spend enough and not give a shit about fines.

As Bowery went off jovetivic came on to replace a midfield player. I'd imagine that had more effect on the game than Bowery holding them back. Also before they scored they had some great chances and lots of the ball, guzan, the defence and poor finishing stopped earlier goals.

I think its more like we're sitting there with 11 and sticking would be a very foolish move. After 2 years like the ones we've had I don't think we much choice but to gamble on a new manager being better.
