  1. Tielemans has earned his start. Let’s hope he delivers
  2. We’ve played a handful of games at home and a handful away so far this season. It is perhaps a bit early to be talking about “form” at either locations, certainly not enough to back up some of the long dissertations we have here about what is “going wrong” away from home. Let’s see how things pan out over the full span of this very exciting season. It doesn’t seem too bad so far.
  3. Quite an uncomfortable match, we controlled play a lot but didn’t really have a cutting edge in front of goal.Watkins was weirdly out of it much of the game. Superb goal when it mattered though. I had to watch the first half with no sound so I never heard an explanation of why Lenglet’s goal was disallowed. I watched it being replayed over and over but still couldn’t see what VAR did. Mystifying, and it would probably have made it a much easier match if it had stood. Thought Digne, Tielemans, Carlos, Kamara and Lenglet had good games but, as I say, while the Conference starting XI play nice football, the route to goal tonight seemed unclear. The real difference was made by Douglas Luiz so he gets my MOTM. Excellent subs by Emery late in the game. We know what we need to do against Legia on 30 Nov. Onwards and upwards!
  4. LOL the BBC spurts app is so excited they’ve just told me 3 times we are 2-1 up. Just need to keep control now & play the game out.
  5. Still don’t see that we have any real sense of how we can win this.
  6. We have only twice this season been able to get anything out of a game where we went 0-1 down, so this is a big test.
  7. @smg@deeps Maybe you are not so contemptuous of my half time comment now?
  8. We are lucky not to be going in 0-1 or 0-2. Don’t know what’s suddenly happened to us, Faffing around in front of goal and outpaced in defence.
  9. Sorry to say I am now switching off. This inept display is too painful to watch.
  10. I wonder in our game plan who was actually supposed to be covering the vast acres of space we left for Aina?
  11. Man City who are currently top lost two league games in a row. Any team can lose a game from time to time. It’s how you recover and consistency over the season that secures a top 5 slot, not regarding everything game as “must win”
  12. C’mon. No game is a “must win” when we are 10 games into the season.
  13. BTW if anyone wants to enlighten us on “fingerpostfriday”, I would be fascinated to know….
  14. Interesting comparisons. Reading through this thread, it seems many posters are thinking of Unai’s residency with Villa in terms of Poch’s Southampton gig rather than his time at Spurs. It suggests many don’t believe out improvement is really happening in a sustainable way. Understandable given the trauma of the past 20 years. If Emery leaves for Man U, presumably we can just hire Poch when Chelsea sack him.
  15. RIP Charlie. My favourite Villan of all time, without filter.
  16. Love this thread. Of course, Torres was responsible for the own goal. And then people get snippy when accused of making him a scapegoat.
  17. That’s what the hot looking women say to you, I think.
  18. Did we even start the motor? Maybe just took the handbrake off and gave the car a shove…
  19. Strong line-up, strong bench. Now just need a strong, focused performance. Luton already have their backs to the wall and will be scrapping for every point. 0-0 will be a triumph for them.
  20. You almost sound a bit annoyed that we won so convincingly and didn’t take our “deserved”punishment.
