  1. I know what you are saying but it's just a hypothetical situation. All football fans hypothesise, it's what genertates so much banter. If there was no hypothesised discussions about football the banter would be halved.
  2. He was only trying to make a point, no one makes the same point in exactly the same way. Just because I am against Ian's opinion on this matter doesn't mean I go "eggy mental" at him because he portrays it in a different way to what I would do.
  3. I went with option B obviously. I think we already have 4th, Arsenal are NOT going to beat United, Liverpool & Chelsea in their last 5 games, I would quite happily stick £100 on them NOT to win all of those. We have Chelsea, Liverpool and Man United to play. I think we are more likely to get more points out of those than Arsenal. I know Liverpool and United are away, but no reason why we cannot draw with both Chelsea and United and even beat Liverpool. So the question is about 3rd, if we beat Chelsea we have a bit of room, but the main point about people putting the league over the cups is because of injuries and tiredness. Well they'd be pretty **** already because we have played since july and the schedule we have had so far hasn't been lax has it? People get injured in training, out and about etc, you cannot worry about injuries going into a game, because that is negative thinking, something that Martin DOESN'T do. He is reserved but not negative. I agree to change players if we have someone equal to the man going out, Heskey and Carew, NRC & Cuellar, I could even cope with Sidwell and petrov being replaced. But not the likes of Delf, Shorey, Gardner etc. Perhaps I am not giving the bench enough thought that they can actually do as good a job as the starting 11. Do we even have a set starting 11 like we used to? perhaps not. I want to go to a final, win it and tell all my spurs mates, Everton mates, West Ham mates, and especially newcastle mates, you won **** all we won the UEFA cup, further proof we are bigger than all of you. Finishing 3rd and 4th means nothing unless we get through the group stages of the champions league in terms of success. All it brings is money and the chance to bring in some big names, but big names aren't going to arrive because we finished 3rd once. Maybe if we do it twice or three times we might get Ribery or some big name like that to join us, but not just the once. Silverware is the only thing people look at when talking about big clubs, it's the main reason why Villa are still talked as a big club, because we have won the league and the european cup back in the early 80's. Not because we finished 3rd and qualified for the group stages once. What if we do a cup double then? you'd rather the champions league than a cup double? I think to be honest players will look at that and go "jeez they won on two fronts" they must be one hell of a team.
  4. I can totally understand their logic, I just don't agree with it. It's a case of how we want to move forward. Yes Champions league would be great but I think the squad is good enough to cope considering their performances since august. I guess I have the "Paul Scholes" atttitude of "no game is a friendly", and "every game is as important as the next one". If we want to progress and become a top 4-5 side in the country we have to be able to cope on all fronts throughout the year. It's how United won the treble and Arsenal won the double. Also finishing 4th doesn't give us champions league football, Everton managed it then drew Villareal who destroyed them over two legs so we cannot assume we will get group stage Champions league football. I have complete faith in the Villa team and the management and think we should try our best to win the F.A Cup, win the UEFA cup and finish 3rd in the premiership as well.
  5. The problem I see with the banks is that they are completely above the law. Doesn't matter what the government do, the economy is ruined if any of the major banks go under. Therefore they have to be bailed out. What angers me even more is they haven't declared exactly where this money is going and how much of these so called "toxic debts" are going to cost the taxpayer. Futher more, banks are still so reluctant to lend, you cannot buy a house unless you have a 25% deposit or higher. The banks could take all of the bail out money and do what they want with it and we as the public can do well.....**** all about it. regulation is pointless because it's already meant to be in place and it failed to pick up on this for ages. They might as well save the taxpayer a few hundred million and remove regulation altogether. really pisses me off because they were still trying to deny mortgage payers the reduction in interest rates until it became so low, they felt they couldn't hold the cut back any longer. I just hope some hitman has his house re-posessed and goes on a massive rampage seeking revenge on behalf of the public.
  6. Hi General I am hoping you could clear up something that has been bugging me for a few weeks now. Some people on here have been discussing about our various achievements in the UEFA cup, F.A Cup & the league. Some Villa fans have been saying they would rather see Villa put out a second string side against CSKA Moscow so we can rest our key players and concentrate on ensuring our position in the League. What are your thought on the above and do you know how yourself, Randy and Martin O'Neill feels about us fighting on 3 very tricky fronts. Personally I think regardless of how stretched the squad maybe, I feel our squad has performed brilliantly this far and with us over half way through the season, we can cope with whatever is thrown at us. I can understand the need to rest players but not at the expense of risking leaving our position in the league or dropping out of both the UEFA cup and F.A Cup. I feel very strongly about this because I always thought european football is what really made this club great and after 11 years wait, we have the chance to win the UEFA cup and really push Villa forward as a european threat once more. I do get very involved with this topic because it angers me when other villa fans vehemently dismiss our chances of success in the UEFA cup without damaging our chances to obtain Champions league football for next year.
  7. James Milne once wrestled a Bear blindfolded for Charity.....and won!
  8. I haven't heard North Stand vs Holte End banter for about 10 years mate. Used to be quality "Holte end give us a song" "north stand give us a song". I don't think the crows is coherent and together enough to get it going again. Seems it's all Holte End at VP these days.
  9. "he played for the shite" you DO NOT knock a player under any circumstances. althought I wouldn't mind a chant about Brad Friedel looking like Hellboy.
  10. A HA - Take on Me He's Heeeskey (he's Heskey) Takes you on (point to opposing fans) You'll be goooone in a goal or TWOOOOO. Di di do do, di do do, do do do do do do do do do do, do do, do do do do do
  11. I would keep £100k and return the rest. as he is a banker I doubt upon returning he would give anything over £1000 to you.
  12. the impossible dream is a great tune that would sound pretty sweet on the terraces. However, I feel that many people will not know the tune, the lyrics or even want to sing it. It's also a very very very fiiting tune for Villa going forward. Developing into a bigger better, more together football club.
  13. It's not a waste of time at all. If I want to do it I will do it. When I made the Ashley Young video people seemed to enjoy it. To be honest the best emotion I have felt was when Liverpool sang you'll never walk alone just before the second half against Milan when they were 3-0 down. THAT's A FULL SONG!
  14. Killers - Human.... or shoudl I say Killers - Villa We did our best to notice When the ball came down the line Up to the front man of the Villa He had fought and he was fine And sometimes we get nervous When we see an open game Close your eyes Clear your heart... Cut the cord Are we human? Or are we Villa? The sign is vital Our hands are cold And we're on our feet Looking for the answer Are we human? Or are we Villa? (all start jumping up and down, singing the piano melody) it's purely random, but it's a great tune to use on the terraces. Tried as usual to keep the rhyming as clode to the original as possible, to make it easier to sing.
  15. Liverpool Win, Everton will never catch us and it's guaranteed 5th. if Liverpool wins I can say we WILL NOT finish below 5th.
  16. I agree that the ticketing section of the website needs a little 'visual improvement' and also think once a user is signed in, should be a lot easier to quickly get your seats booked. Amazons 'buy with one click' is a good example of making the user journey very simple. Details are saved, just requires confirmation of delivery and security details for card payment.
  17. as someone said anything under £100 I doubt they will bother chasing it. Purely because if the person says they cannot repay it back, they pass it onto companies that deal with debt collection. They will have their fee for taking on that case and I presume they will have a "minimum fee" of at least £25. I would take advantage of the offer. I wouldn't go mad, I would draw out £30, get another £30 and that covers me for Chelsea at home.
  18. you got a beefy daily limit or something I can only draw max of £250 in a day. Suppose you could get to Ibiza for that. Villa fans larging it up to "Panjoo" thanks to Nationwide.
  19. reminds me of the time someone I knew from school mistakenly got paid £1,200 (something like that), turned it was a cheque paid, but the person authorised it when the account details were wrong. He simply bought a laptop and when questioned said he didn't check his balance very often as he knew he was always in credit. Think the bank had to cover the error in the end, as it wasn't his fault. Time have probably changed though.
  20. ATM's Double Money Error Banks borrow £250bn then expect customers to pay back a few thousdan quid? hahaha, good on the peeps that queued up. Good on 'em. Hope they were the ones that needed the money the most.
