  1. Glad he played well today, we'll get more filthy lucre for him. I actually really really want him to be sold, we'll never get another chance to get 30mil+ for him. 30mil is **** madness. We'd get 3 quality first team players for that. We need to be happy if he's sold for such a sum.
  2. Sounds good, could you pm me the link please. No paid apps in Ireland yet so only way to get them is off the internet. Thanks.
  3. mykeyb, there are apps that you can get for android that blow the apps apple have out of the water. This is because of the freedom android gives the developers. The apps can edit the os and can do almost anything the developer wants. Android is still growing and I think when version 3 comes out at the end of the year it'll be the dawning of the platform. Also, the ability to get all paid apps for free off rapidshare etc.. Means android is far leads expensive than an iphone. I'd give the desire a go, you won't regret it. Break free of apple. You can always go b back
  4. It's not fanboy android fans. I ain't like apple because they want to control what I have access too. I dint like that and so avoided iphones. Now android has come asking with a platform that allows me the freedom I want. Ever since an ipod my friend owned had all his music erased because he joined it up to my computer to get my music turned me against apple. They wasn't you to buy music from Itunes so don't want puerile sharing music. Apple is not for me. I need to be in control, I'm not with apple products.
  5. I want as much access to mhy smartphone as I do with my own PC and you almost get that with Android, if you root it you get exactly that. I'd expect this kind of control will come eventually for Android phones, but never ever for Apple.
  6. If someone asked you go to the start menu and click on run then you got nervous as you've no idea what this does then you are an iPhone owner. Apple bring people into Apple world, for better or worse you get what they allow. I do not like that and have always stuck to Creative Zen's in the mp3 players and can't see myself ever leaving Android. How long before Apple will make a phone with a big screen? With Android you have choice of phone to suit personal tast with Apple you get no choice.
  7. I must admit, the screen on the Desire is beautiful. I was installing a load of apps for my friend yesterday. AMOLED is the future for sure.
  8. I've converted two iphone users to switch to android. The screen on my x10 was the selling point. The new iphone is still on a 3.5 inch screen. Screen size is important for internet browsing which is what most people use the phones for. I think the evo is the one to get with that whopping big screen, battery life would be the only worry there.
  9. Plenty of people still working on rooting the X10, It'll happen eventually. I'm in no rush myself, I'd only root when 3.0 is out so it'll be early next year before I would do it. Can't see them giving up, far harder things have been broken than a SE phone.
  10. You are my Hero Don. My Hero. I was trembling with fear when reverting to the qwerty touchscreen keyboard, the Sony one is shocking. Why won't they just release it, I'd happily pay whatever price they want. Locale and Swype are two must have things for Android. Has anyone actually changed any of the settings in Swype other than turning vibrate off?
  11. no offence dirk, but you are full of shit. lad on xda has rooted his x10 . unless this is another fake it should mean android 3 on x10. to say it looks unlikely is what id expect from htc fan boys on here. x10 rooting is just a matter of time. get over the fact the x10 is a good phone and if rooted is superior to the desire
  12. Swype beta has expired. I'm in a state of panic. What is the best alternative to swype, I read shapewriter?
  13. dirk Android 3.0 isn't out even. The X10 will be rooted shortly and certainly by the time 3.0 Android is out. That version of Android will have a lot of the functionality that Sony and HTC have added in their custom UI's. So the need to stick with your manuafacturer's UI is no longer as important when 3.0 is out. Anyway I assume EVERONE has the Locale app ? It is "the can't live without it" app so far for Android.
  14. The question I was just about to ask. What's the point in a 2Ghz processor? It's not like 1Ghz is slow and newer versions of Android work to extend batterylife and improve performance so it's highly unlikley that you'll need more than the 1Ghz Snapdragon to run Android 3.0. Batterylife is very important because you want to get at least a day out of your phone regardless of if you use it a lot one day or not.
  15. I'm going to root my x10 when android 3.0 is released at the end of the year. I had a look at a nexus running stock android and it's not very nice. You need the sony or htc modifications at this stage. But from what I've read android 3.0 will be what we have been waiting for. I see a playstation and nintendo 64 emulators are being made for android too.
  16. Villa all the way, I am Irish though. But between Ireland and Villa it'd be tough, I care more about Villa but to see Ireland do well in a World Cup is it's own kind of special. Basically Villa losing a Premirship match hurts me more than Ireland losing a World Cup qualifier. So I voted Villa, But Dublin winning Sam?
  17. Yeah the mobile tv is pretty cool. I haven't signed up for it, but you can get 24h access for €1 which would be handy if I was on the move and wanted to watch a match.
  18. Oh and on the 1.6, 2.1 debate, if you are on your first android phone you ain't gonna know the difference without having used a phone with 2.1. Hardware over software is probably the best mantra. Anyway desire or x10, both the best on the market both down to preference.
  19. Mr.Smalljob you are in htc land here. Mention the x10 will result in ridicule. I have an x10 and its amazing, love it to bits. It was between the desire and x10 and I'm certain I made the right choice for me. When the os is updated in a fe months its a no brainer. Bigger screen, better camera and it looks so slick. Desire and nexus look ugly. To each and there own, tech geeks will always stick with htc. Some of us like what sony do, and theres no doubt they have built a fantastic phone with the x10. You will not be disappointed at all. This message was brought to you by swype on my x10
  20. Swype is God. I cant fathom the potential speed I can text on this with a bit of practice. It, by magic I assume, knows exactly what you are trying to type, even if you are miles off. Proper Genius the person who developed this.
  21. I see the Evo 4G has a TFT screen, seems HTC are moving that way. Having had time to play around with my mates Desire one of the things I don't like about it is the screen, seems a bit dull.
  22. Lets be honest here, if they offer £30mil or £25mil + Ireland we'll have to accpet it. He's not worth that, so we'd have to take it.
  23. Basically the X10 and Desire have both got excellent reviews and when I tried them both out in the O2 store the X10 is the one that grabbed me. Haven't regretted my decision one bit in the month I've had it so I'm happy with that. I love android, really really can't see myself ever leaving it.
  24. I think the screen is lovely, really love it. Can't see why I'd be using my phone outside all the time. Indoors it looked better than the Desire. Also spent awhile reading reviews for both phones and the X10's screen is one of the strong points mentioned by all reviews. Techradar, who have the Desire as the best phone you can get point out that all the problems they have with the X10 is software related, something Sony can resolve. The 8.1mp camera is a huge plus for me, I always liked camera phones and ones with good cameras. So it was probably the decider for me. Android 1.6 wasn't that much of a problem for me as it is only temporary as an update to 2.1 will be out this year. The more memory in the Desire is a big plus for it, even if it is rarely used. I love high specs from my days building my own dream machine pc's over a decade ago. So it was a plus for the Desire. But then we have how it looks, the Nexus One is without doubt the ugliest thing I've ever seen, the Desire is far nicer but it's hardly a nice either. The X10 is by a distance the nicer phone to looks at. So the pro's and cons list came down to Desire has more memory and was running Android 2.1. X10 has a bigger screen, better camera, looks nicer. So accepting there will be 2.1 for X10 soon enough, we're left with bigger memory as the selling point for Desire, which can't outweight the Camera for me. If the X10 had a 5mp camera the Desire may well have been my choice. It's all about what your priorities are. Camera was the big one for me.
