  1. What is the story with Lescott? I've heard mutterings that he isn't settled and that he and Moyes aren't/haven't been getting along too well. Personally I thought he was outstanding last season and was perhaps the 2nd best LB in the league behind Evra. This season though his form has in my view been average at best and at times very poor, for instance his position when Boro scored on Sunday was nieve to say the least. Is there any word up there suggesting its anything more than a dodgy spell?
  2. Indeed mate. That is the beauty of football and is the whole purpose of this site its nice to be able to debate opinions with people without it getting personal or silly. I'd agree with you that they are a little more dissjointed when he doesn't play but you could say the same about most sides when missing a key player, I just contend with the idea that in doing so they can be labelled a one man team. I don't think outside of the top 4 you can take a key player out of the side and expect them to be as effective. Take Ashley Young out of our team and we are less fluid as you say but I wouldn't say we are a one man team.
  3. If I were going to describe Everton as a one man team that one man would be Moyes. Without him Everton would be in a dark place by now he has single handedly transformed them and he is the single most important person at the club. As for the team, I certainly wouldn't call them a one man team, in fact Everton are the very opposite. A team not built on the brilliance of the individual but the strength of their collective parts. Yes Cahill is a key player for them but he isn't the be all and end all. In fact I personally don't even think he is their most important player, I think that is Arteta (although Arteta's girl disagreed with me last time I said it) as he is the one who unlocks teams and creates the chances for Cahill.
  4. It's like something off Football Manager! :winkold:
  5. I have to say I thought that Pienaar was one of the bargins of the summer.
  6. Hamilton will win it. There is no debate. But I voted for Hoy as while Hamilton's achievement is outstanding it owes in no small part to the car as with Hoy's achievement is down to pure personal brilliance. Hamilton may be the youngest F1 World Title winner ever but Hoy did something no Brit has done in 100 years. And I'm a huge Hamilton fan.
  7. Ron Atkinson by a mile
  8. Hi General. I've had an issue with tickets but not the normal issue of getting tickets. Rather I have had debits taken for my account for games I didn't attend and didn't book tickets for. It appears I have been placed on the Cup Scheme despite only applying to be on the away scheme and have only just realised the error and that I have been charge for tickets I didn't use or know I had. (I should add I've twice previously requested not to be on the cup scheme) Can you please advise me how to go about getting this resolved? Also, would it be possible for us to recieve some sort of correspondance when money is taken from our accounts to let us know what game it relates too. With the amount of games it is very hard to know what money is being taken and for what game, perhaps an e-mail, txt or letter or even better some way of the debit from you account saying what game it is for rather than just Aston Villa. Regards Ash
  9. Hi General. A mate of mine Chris Cooper is making the huge effort of cycling to Paris this weekend to raise money for Paul Birch as I'm sure you are aware. This morning there is a headline about his trip on the Offical Site but when you click on it the link doesn't work. I'm not normally one to moan on here (in fact never) but I have to ask do the people that run the site actually check their work? The amount of times this happens is unreal and for it to happen when its a piece of news as important as this one where someone is doing an incredible act to help a former player it is really beyond the pale. Many have already commented on other problems with the site especially the problems last night so I won't repeat them but I will say that I think the official site does the club and you and the board no credit whatsoever. So much has changed beyond recognition since Randy took over but I have to say the standard of AVTV and the offical site reminds me of the darker days of our past. If nothing else can you please get them to fix the story about the fund raising for Birchy and ask them to check these things in future before putting them live. EDIT - The problem appears to have been fixed but my point remains.
  10. Ah nice one Paddy was thinking about him last night and wanted to see how he was getting on but couldn't remember his name for the life of me.
  11. And a stunning female streaker pls Shit, yeah, forgot that. So close to the perfect game and yet so far....
  12. And a stunning female streaker pls
  13. I want Spurs to lose for the following reason's. 1) I'd rather face Newcastle than Spurs in the competition 2) It would give them stupid Geordies some false hope before they crash again 3) Spurs will sort themselves out but the more this run goes on the better 4) I know more Spurs fans than Geordies
  14. waste? waste? Just think about what your saying here Bick's! Your in danger of agreeing with almost every women I know.
  15. They drink that in the Congo you know! Seriously, can't even imagine what there is to think about.
  16. What is the dilema? Go to live football game for free or not? Easy decision, football always wins for me.
  17. What is interesting is that this very limited poll appears to be representative of the nation at large. If you look at ticket sales and viewing figures for games it is clear that people are losing interest in the England side and I think the FA have taken a massive gamble in selling the rights to Sentanta because I can see that only making the situation worse.
  18. I've voted for other and my other is a show called Oz which is not strictly modern as no longer on TV but the DVD's have only just been released in the UK. If you have seen it you'll understand why I love it if you haven't do yourself a favour go buy season 1 sit back and kiss goodbye to your social life as you get drawn into the world of Oswold State Penetentiary. Its AMAZING
  19. I'm with you B6 I didn't watch the game on Saturday and I'm not going to be watching the game this evening either because rather simple there are other things I'd rather do with my time. This isn't an over night thing its been something that has been building over the last few years but its finally dawned on me that I just don't care about the England team any more. I'm tired of the meaningless friendlies, the multiple substitutions, the big players being missing from the squad due to 'injury' only to be fit the following Saturday. I'm sick of manager after manager coming out with the same old excuses and picking the same old players based on reputation rather than ability, form or their suitability to a formation of style. How many England managers does it take to figure out Lampard and Gerrard can't play together? It sounds like the opening line of a joke and guess what it is a joke, England are a joke. We play games in a huge stadium built in the wrong place which is unaccessable to the majority of the nation, a stadium which is rarely full (how many empty seats where there at the last game) because people like me who used to be England members no longer go to games. We have become tired of £8 for a burger and all the money grabbing rip off's that go along with supporting England when half the players pull out on the instructions of their club manager. The new Wembley is devoid of soul with a middle tear full of the sort of people who would rather stay and have one last glass of bubbly rather than take their seat for kickoff. I'm tired of Beckham being picked for commercial reasons, I'm tired of Rooney being picked for I don't know what reason, I'm tired of Lampard and Gerrard, I'm tired of foreign managers of meaningless friendlies and pathetic pathetic performances. I'm sick of hearing there are no easy games in international football anymore! There bloody are, they are against England!!!! I'm sick of the FA selling the rights to games to the highest bidder without a care for those fans who do not want to go to the pub or subscribe to another satelite channel. England games should be accessable to everyone, that means they should be on the BBC or ITV, period. But no, the FA sold a package to Sentanta in which there isn't even the provision of a highlights package to those who don't have the channel. The game in this country sold out a long time ago, people point the finger at the Premier League as the worst example but for me England is the biggest sell out of all and personally speaking, I'm not buying it any more.
  20. Nice to see David Moyes isnt on that list. Gotta be someone off their head to manage them. Nope I didn't put him on because he would have had to have taken leave of his senses to leave you to go there even if you are short of cash. Plus despite the capacity of their stadium you are a far bigger club than they have ever been.
  21. I hate to break it to you but I was having a laugh with this poll, I really don't think The Honey Monster or Rodger De Coursey are in the running.
  22. Now I'm confused. Who is John and what would the Spurs assistant manager be doing with them two? :winkold: To the generic Cockney rocket polisher, ALL males are "John". Poyet is rumoured to be rejoining Wise as his assistant. Didn't know that. Poyet to Newcastle? Where is that rumoured? Why on earth would he leave Spurs for that job?
  23. Now I'm confused. Who is John and what would the Spurs assistant manager be doing with them two? :winkold:
  24. Get me aye putting that option in the poll!
  25. I'm sorry to inform you that there is a statement on the Newcastle website that reads
