  1. Also, bombing Yemen. But that might be for profit? Which makes me think it's all a bit hypocritical with sanctions for some and stuff.
  2. Now, let's not get extreme here. But we MUST make all effort to understand what made the new man successful. It's imperative.
  3. Ah, good point. I keep forgetting the timing of the City takeover.
  4. No, people keep harping on using the full backs for width. That isn't weird in and of itself. I can clearly see what the issue is myself. The meme-like quality of the complaint is what is grating me.
  5. I think it's even worse to be honest. I think we did the homework, got caught flat footed by implementing the wrong answer and then failed utterly to adapt. That is real bad.
  6. Agreed. We need to accept it unfortunately. Maybe, just maybe, Newcastle are in with a shout. We'll see.
  7. It is a very, very common philosophy. People here make it sound like it's some weird novelty. It's just poorly implemented by Gerrard.
  8. Mate. You can't just make shit up.
  9. I know. I am not absolving him of anything. I am saying these guys are grown ass footballers. Even if he didn't say it, I guarantee 100% that our pre-game tactics session with the analytics team would have pointed this out so they could be prepared. It's a multi part failure. The manager doesn't remote control players, and it's obvious his system, whatever it is, isn't clicking. But some basic stuff should be obvious even for a footballer. Granted, mistakes happen, it's part of the game. But that ball was their main plan the week before and we IMMEDIATELY fall for it. That is poor by everyone involved.
  10. That's the least of our worries. He changes shape to seldom and doesn't seem to react to what is happening, at least I can't see it. I wasn't too bothered he didn't sub someone at half-time, but he did nothing to address our lack of movement, positioning of individual players and lack of proper outlets in the build up phase for example. Or handling Zaha and whatever his name is. That worried me more. We look uncomfortable in all phases, as if the lads don't understand what to do or where their team-mates are.
  11. Yes I am. Seriously, if they watched their game last week they would have seen that was the game plan. Players need to step up as well.
  12. I will shamelessly quote myself quoting a German dude:
  13. To be fair, this is the first thing our scouting report would have pointed out. That goal just has to be on the players. They failed utterly to cut out the cross.
  14. I know, but I think Kane will have to take one for the team and officially change pronunciation of hist last name.
  15. And quite frankly, as much as I like Potter's ideas, we have no idea what he needs to recreate his successes here.
  16. Yes, but just as people tend to view the bleak with an altogether too pessimistic view, the good times can easily be viewed with too much confidence and self-assuredness. You must always strive to improve.
  17. All (tasteless) kidding aside, their revenue numbers are insane. And they only have like the 5th biggest revenue in football.
  18. Goddamnit watching that City team makes me feel it really would be worth masses of human rights abuses and even a genocide or two just to finance som juicy, vertical tiki-taka. Why are our owners so poor?
  19. Yeah, but the lad's right. There is hysteria on the board. People keep posting the same thing over and over again. It is, quite frankly, enough to be called over the top even if criticism is valid. It's quite frankly ridiculous, the amount of repeated shouts and identical posts, but that is ok. It's what these boards are for. But it's stil hysterical, over the top and quite silly.
  20. Agreed. I am not arguing that we have good shape, just that the average position chart needs to be used with some caution in regards to shape.
  21. It's because we lack clear ideas in each phase of the game. The lads looks for their teammates instead of passing to where the KNOW they are. They look uncomfortable and like they ar straining to implement something they don't understand. As a consequence they constantly have to think on their feet which slows them down and hampers decision making. There could be a multitude of reasons as to why.
  22. Indeed our shape is weird, but do remember that average position isn't the best way to judge our shape as it is an average of each players event throughout the game. No off the ball events or positions are usually recorded unless specified. Heatmaps are probably better I think.
