  1. Yeah rrrrrrrright! lol! Is that on the same basis that Fergie time works on
  2. There are many more Villa than Blues both here in Burton on Trent where i now live & in Kidderminster where i used to live. They used to run coaches for Wolves & Villa games from Kiddy & there were usually Two Villa coaches to every Wolves one... & thats when both teams were in the old 1st division in the 80's... Never any coaches for Albion or Sha though... As for in Burton you rarely see any noses up here.. quite a few Villa though. There is one house mind you on the outskirts of the town which has a Sha flag flying on a pole... really does my head in that lol!
  3. Kind of begs the question Randy..."What exactly is the point in Aston Villa at the moment?" I mean are we supposed to gleefully pop along & spend a small fortune to watch the opposition outplay us every week?.. Travel the country at massive expense to watch us get humiliated as often as not? Spend £50 on a new top with Young, Milner or Benteke on the back only to know it will be obsolete in less than a year? Ok it's the Villa but frankly it doesn't feel like the Villa anymore! It really is a pale shadow of the club i remember. Over to you Mr Lerner ....here's hoping you either sort it out & have another go in a more controlled manner or find somebody to sell to who can inject the necessary funds & breath some life back into this comatosed giant. I do think Lerner could still turn this round & become a hero in the History of the club but sadly it appears he simply hasn't the stomach for it & instead will go down as a guy who made a half arsed attempt but lacked the passion or conviction to see it through and then pulled the plug, stuck two fingers up to the loyal fanbase & left the club to rot in the Championship.
  4. Indeed & also Barca have the means to develop those players & have the Kudos to make those kids want to stay there when they have reached their potential. Surely for us it would be like treading water? We find them, coach & develop them at a significant cost & then as soon as they get any good they want out. So we sell them & the whole cycle starts over again with the next "find"?! So i guess it depends on how much we sell them for compared to how much it costs us to develop them over several years as to whether it's really worthwhile? For me we have to get a few of them sticking around for a good few seasons whilst at their best for this to work. Or at least get a humungous fee for them thus enabling us to sign a decent replacement. Its a sad day when this club has become a mere footstep to a "proper" club.
  5. Spurs are a wonderful side just now , if they keep Bale they'll be fine. It shows just how far & how quickly this club has fallen comparing us to Spurs now as to comparing us 5 seasons back. On the positive side it does show just how quickly a team can rise from the depths when you look at Spurs and that it is possible to break into that "top 4" still.
  6. I have a question for everybody..... Lets suppose we did somehow scrape survival & remain in the Premier League for another season. Do you honestly think Randy Lerner will invest in the team "properly" in the summer? Or do you think his eyes will glimmer with $$$$'s & he will cut his losses still further, pocket the windfall from the new TV money... Give Lambert a ridiculously small kitty designed at bringing in more lower league & cheap foreign players resulting in us struggling yet again next season & then having recouped most of his investment "do one" asap?
  7. Unfortunately he only ever saw us as a stepping stone and this was always on the cards as long as he did well here. It wouldn't surprise me if Benteke had instructed his agent to tout him around other clubs. Thing is even if he did this should not be being done like this.. it's almost embarrassing the way it is so obvious he wants out & is being touted about... To do this half way through the season when we are battling relegation is shameful & can only have an unsettling effect..if not on Benteke then on the team in general which is the polar opposite of what this club needs at the moment. Obviously this will go on at every club but not to this extent mid season surely? This should be happening when either the season is as good as over i.e. the club is either safe or relegated or preferably in the summer when the season is over if the guy is that desperate to tread on the club at the 1st opportunity.
  8. Is this allowed? His agent openly touting him around at a critical time in our battle for Premier League survival? If it is then it shouldn't be it's disgraceful & the agent should be barred from the game. At the very least Villa should refuse to sign any more players he is leeching off. Cannot believe this idiot is openly touting Benteke around. This can only unsettle him & therefore cause him to take his eye off the prize potentially.
  9. That'd be great then considering we didn't pay anything for him. Yep That'd do me too!
  10. I would take issue with the "too good for Aston Villa" comment Belgian Guy. Maybe "indebted" to Aston Villa is more like it? Why should Benteke be indebted to us? Why? Thought that was obvious? For taking a chance on him & giving him the platform which will no doubt lead on to better things for him... I think it's a bit rich for the original poster to say a player who we plucked from Genk is too good for Aston Villa & i find that quite disrespectful under the circumstances. Obviously The Villa are struggling currently as we all know but to say he is too good for us? Ok maybe "endebted" wasn't the perfect word to use if we are being really pedantic about it but i used that word to kind of balance the scales as the original poster stated Benteke is too good for this club which i have issues with. I don't feel Benteke is too good for Aston Villa, more so that Aston Villa are having a bad time at the moment, so i could understand that a lot of players would simply move on to play for a club as high up the table as possible.. but that does not mean he is "too good" for this club.
  11. I would take issue with the "too good for Aston Villa" comment Belgian Guy. Maybe "indebted" to Aston Villa is more like it? sorry i dont understand can you say it in different way? the translate of your text dont make sense :s Ok Belgian Guy.. What i meant was that i think he should be thankful to Aston Villa not see himself as too good for them. He is a very good player and i am delighted it has worked for him but without Aston Villa signing him he would not have had the chance to shine.
  12. Was easily my man of the match against the "ammers".
  13. I would take issue with the "too good for Aston Villa" comment Belgian Guy. Maybe "indebted" to Aston Villa is more like it?
  14. I still think it will end up just under the traditional 40 pts mark again... Maybe 38 / 39 pts.
  15. I do wonder if he was thinking that Bowery's arial ability might be useful in defence & he did get his head on a couple of balls to be fair. His control was 2nd rate though & he lost the ball countless times.
  16. We're inconsistent and unpredictable enough to actually get something from the next two though. I'm not saying we'll get any wins, but we might get a point If we somehow find ourselves 2 goals up we may have a chance.
  17. Nowhere near enough to judge him on yet.. Looked promising with one touch then lightweight with the next for me.
  18. Still scary looking at the stats from the game today... I think the Weimann miss knocked us first half ..truly shocking miss that & it's not the first one either.. We lost on just about every stat apart from the goals ....thankfully thats the one which counts! I didn't see enough to make me think we will do anything but struggle like crazy for the rest of the season. Fingers crossed though as i fear luck is the only thing which can keep this lot up. Hopefully that will boost confidence enough to prevent too bad a hammering in our next 2 games.
  19. Well i had us down to Draw against Newcastle, lose at Everton & beat West Ham.. so 4 points from 3 & that is exactly what has happened though with role reversal in the 1st two games. So for me we are currently on schedule still for a possible 35 points... That would include us losing the next two so any points from those would be massive... In fact if we won 1 & drew a couple from the next 6 games that would be more than i was expecting & would put us in a much stronger position. Arsenal (a) Man City (h) Reading (a) QPR (h) Liverpool (h) Stoke (a)
  20. Yeah was a bad challenge that...............He needs to use his loaf more in those situations. Played well though today.
  21. Well Ray Wilkins noted that the rest of the players did not rush up to congratulate Benteke today when he scored like they did to Nzogbia when he did the same?! He seemed to think this may indicate something amiss in the dressing room or that they know he's bottling out in the summer or something?
  22. Well thank the holy lord!... Finally we scrape a win.. Thought we were awful for large parts & it was nothing more than a battle really but glad we won it & would have expected nothing else against a physical West Ham team. The result was all that mattered however today & hopefully that will bring a little bit of confidence back especially being coupled with the Everton draw. Now a draw from one of the next 2 & we have a chance.
  23. We are shocking It is like watching a non league team play.. Watched Barcelona play before this & oh my goodness me we are awful. To miss that chance Weimann did with how important it was is just disgraceful. Relegation fodder & there is not a cat in hells chance this dog awful team will stay up..
  24. It really is on a knife edge now looking at it.. We cannot afford even a single defeat in any of the 6 pointers..We can get away with a few draws in them but we have to win 1 or 2 out of Norwich QPR, Reading & Wigan & not lose any of them. That is a tough call and very very precarious. The thing is thats if that happens & we don't lose any of those it will go down to the wire most likely but just one horror show a la Wigan at home & for me thats it. Gotta say it looks bad.
  25. Hmmn.. some interesting points tallying going on above?! I revised mine since todays results to this Southampton...46pts Newcastle........46pts Norwich...........42pts Villa.................34pts Wigan.............33pts QPR................33pts Reading...........33pts That is with us beating West Ham, Fulham & Sunderland at home & drawing against Reading (a), QPR (h), Stoke (a), Norwich (a) & Wigan (a) Lose against any of Reading QPR or Wigan & we are down as we not only lose the points but give them to them also.
