  1. 8 for me. 9: We'd have needed depth in certain places. We have no natural RB or LB backup, even if one is due to an injury, even a loan signing of an LB until christmas would have been good. So a backup RB, LB and a decent striker would have made it a 9. 10: As above, except a very good striker as opposed to just a decent backup. Still a superb transfer window. Well done, MON. He put the doubters to bed this summer I hope!
  2. It's an awkward one. Petrov over the space of the 3 games has possibly been our best player this season. About the only guy in the starting XI that has yet to have a bad game, other than maybe L.Young, so it would be a little harsh to drop him.
  3. Giants DE Osi Umenyiora has to have season ending surgery, so we're considering asking Michael Strahan to come out of retirement. Hopefully he does, otherwise we're ****.
  4. Hi General, Apologies if this has been asked before.. I was looking through the history of football at the Olympics and came accross the 6 stadia to be used at London 2012. Wembley, Hampden, Cardiff, St. James', Old Trafford and.. Villa Park were listed. I know it's only wikipedia so it's not entirely reliable and I'd not read it/heard it anywhere that VP would be hosting matches for this. So are we, or is this wrong?
  5. Walking for me. It looks stupid and is stupid.
  6. That's the best one in my opinion, the same one Rangers had. Just replace the word 'Rangers' with 'Villa' and it's sorted. It's not too long, not hard hard to remember, and a decent song!
  7. How about alcohol? Fair enough, didn't see that on the list though. But I probably drink 4 or 5 times a year anyways, and then its only WKD or something. So I wouldn't say I drink much alcohol at all, my birthday, christmas, and a few friends birthdays, thats it.
  8. MON is the man that has the right to be the most pissed off at this, and if he can forgive Barry and continue to play him, I'm sure we can forgive him.
  9. Curbishly for me, reasoning: Liverpool will be doing too well for the Americans to sack him in my opinion, they'd look even more stupid than they do right now if they sacked him while he had them in the top 4! Hughes won't get sacked, if anything he'll walk. I think the Blackburn board know they've some of their best players, they'll hardly expect Ince to make them World beaters, he'll stay for the whole season unless they're doing seriously shite. This leaves Curbs. Just can't see West ham doing anything, reckon they'll be struggling in lower-midtable for all season, their chairman will get bored and boot him.
  10. Become a shit player. Or, if he is to stay, he needs to show us that he's not interested in playing for us with shoddy performances. But Barry is neither crap, or unprofessional on the field.
  11. Santa Cruz. I think Ashton is massively over-rated to be honest, decent player, but considering how injury prone is I'm just not sure where he gets all this hype from.
  12. Yes. -Gareth Barry is undoubtedly a top class player, I want top class players at Villa. -Liverpool would look stupid and poor, after 4 months of trying to get us to lower our price, they still couldn't get him. -It'd send a messege to other players on our team that we're willing to figh to keep them, this ould surely be a good thing. Whether I like him anymore is irrelevant. What is best for AVFC is Barry staying, I'm not sure the money we'll make form his sale would be incredibly useful.
  13. I'll be honest and say I've never done anything, not even smoked a cigarette. If I don't try it, I won't get hooked, and I won't go wasting mymoney on it, that's ho I've always seen it.
  14. I went for the upcoming seasons defense. Friedel and Young are better than Carson and Mellberg (As a RB), Bouma is better than SHorey in my opinion, Laursen is obviously the same, but Davies for me will have more of an impact this season, so this seasons Davies is better than last seasons, as silly as that sounds.
  15. Yeah, the bookies are giving us lower odds than the likes of Pompey, Everton and the rest so they can throw away money.. I personally have no idea where Villa will finish, I think it'll be a very close season. But some people on here seem very confident that the likes of Spurs, Everton, Pompey and Man City will finish above us. Put your money where your mouth is I say.
  16. I dunno why I bother.. I believe it was BCV that posted something interesting yesterday. I believe only 5 teams had bought more players than us, and only 3 had spent more money (Or something very similar). It's quite simply a myth that we don't do anything. On another note, I was looking in one of the papers earlier and they had a preview for each team and how they thought we'd do, they had the predictions like this: 1: Chelsea 2: United 3: Liverpool 4: Arsenal 5: Spurs 6: Villa 7: Everton 8: Man City So it seems the media doesn't think there's much of a problem, and they think MON will get it sorted, must just be a few fans on here that don't have faith on our boss then.
  17. My mood at the moment doesn't matter, it's how I feel on September 1st that matters!
  18. General, I do applaud that you keep coming on here, it seems some people use you as a means of frustration venting rather than realising we're possibly the only club on earth that actually has a link to the club through a member of the board. It seems some people do not appreciate what has happened these last two years, either that or they have a short memory span. I couldn't have dreamt that Villa would have finished 6th just 24 months ago, but that is a reality that people need to get to grips with. As for the money, I'm not sure why people are complaining about that, since Randy and the current board have only been here 2 years, and we've broken our transfer record twice, I'd say it's not bad going. So thankyou again for bringing Pride back to this great club! I for one really appreciate you coming on here and even though a certain peice of news has dampened the mood on here, it's still pretty obvious we're moving in the right direction. Thanks general!
  19. Yawn. One thing we can tell from Barry is that he cleary doesn't have ambitions of winning the Premier League, why else would he go to Liverpool? ay as well have gone to Barnsley to be honest.
  20. Why? Is the poll not working on your computer For me, it feels like we have been spun some very slick Marketing / PR - but I think the value of that may have just ran out. Off the pitch we have improved everywhere. On the pitch, it really doesn't feel too different to the pre-Randy days, circa 1982 - 2006. As its results on the pitch that win you things, I have to vote 'Not Happy' I know it's your opinion, so you can't be wrong. But in regard to the on the field stuff, we have improved every season Randy has been here, quite considerably too. From 16th to 11th then from 11th to 6th. So to say we've not improved on the pitch and it feels like the HDE days is a little unfair I feel, but it's your opinion and I respect that.
  21. This is a shame, more for no than yes.. This is why Villa managers only lost 3 years before they get the boot, one bad season, wait, no, one bad summer and they're wanted out of the club.
  22. I can say yes, without a hesitation. In my honest opinion, MON is being punished for doing a great job. Villa fans seem to forget that just 24 months ago we finished 16th, yet are disappointed that we don't look like we'll be challenging for the top 4 just 3 years later. If MON had have finished 8th or so last season, then 7th this up coming season, then 6th, I'm sure he'd be getting more of a backing from the fans than he has got from moving up the league like this. We are expecting way too much, way too soon.
  23. Can anyone help me with the pronounciation of thier name? That's a tough one! God help the English commentators that do the game.
  24. Queen of the South are a seeded team!? Anyone below them must be truly wank, surely we will make mince meat out of whoever we face.
  25. You're not wrong. This is off the top of my head, and my memory is notoriously shit but we'll see, I'm fairly sure this is true: This first Italian to play in the Premiership was Andrea Silenzi. Wiki'd it, and true. Played 12 games for Forest, scored 0.. and he was a striker. That was the end of him.
