  1. Maybe so... but you aren't big enough to buy him from us... Spurs have always acted the same... Throwing their weight around, shouting the odds, when really... when all the dust has settled and it all comes down to it... You are merely one of the better of the rest... You are a space filler... Our side have had a bad few seasons... Yeah, sure... Don't think anyone here would deny that... But when we finished 6th so many years on the bounce and you were dumping and replacing managers like Pokemon cards, I severely doubt any of your fans on your boards would openly say 'Villa are a bigger club than us'.... So dont in a million years accept it from us towards your outfit run by a conniving skinflint
  2. Only difference is the club fork out and pay the wages for the player to perform, not vis-versa... The player is the employee, the club has paid for him to abide to his contract throughout the duration. If the player doesnt want to re-sign at the end of the contract, then fair play, he can leave on a free... but up until then, the player should agree to do the job by the terms he put his signature to in the beginning... If you dont fancy staying at a club for 4 years, dont sign a 4 year contract... Its that simple
  3. Hope Spurs dont match our valuation... Hope he stays with us for a year and plays a blinder hoping the big clubs come a calling and he breaks Withes record and pretty much making him dead cert for the Belgium number 9 shirt for the WC... and then he ruptures his cruciate and screws his career on the last game of the season by sneezing and wrapping his knee around the goalpost .... We lost one amazing Belgian striker due to a tragic injury... Not like it isn't anything new!
  4. I understand this... but the player is not being treated unfairly so he cant throw the contract in saying this-and-that.... He knew Villa were a work in progress... He knew we werent fighting for European spots.... and he also knew that the length of the contract we were offering him to sign was 4 years long... We offered Ireland the deal, he has to stay until we say so... We can either let him sit it out, we can try and sell him or, if we get that sick and tired of him moping around the place, we can pay him off a lump sum and have done with it... Only difference is that we want Benteke to stay and do the job that he agreed to do less than one year ago... He shouldnt have signed if he wasn't willing to honour the agreement... Oh, you dont want to stay anymore because the whole world knows how good you are now? Graphic state of affairs young Christian... You belong to us, you are virtually the property of our club... The reason you are a footballer with an agent and not a neurosurgeon, a barrister or anything else that requires some REAL thought is because you can kick a ball into a net very well and not because you are highly educated and can make your own mind up about what you want to do with your life... For the money you agreed on, you should shut up and do your job for the team you signed a contract with until the EMPLOYER (AVFC) says that you can go or your contract expires
  5. Not this "little Villa" rubbish again. The clubs you mentioned have all had to sell their fair share of star players in the past. So Ba didnt sign for Chelsea? Modric didnt go to Madrid? Arsenal didnt sign Arteta? It happens... Only difference is, we have the very likely scenario of being picked off by the lesser, more scummier and leprosy infected versions of those aforementioned clubs.... I.e. Spurs... who essentially are Londons answer to Small Heath (i,e. I cant bloody stand them and loads of people on this site seem to agree with me) Think you're quoting the wrong post there. That was exactly my point. I was incorporating the lot... I had your back :-D

  7. Roll on with this except put Benteke with the under 14s... Because not only am I spiteful, but im also a sociopath... and I believe his behaviour is deserving of having his confidence and ego shattered many, many, many times
  8. If he was shit he wouldn't have put in a transfer request one year into a 4 year contract would he so what's your point? That he was the one that signed the contract that we gave to him??? He agreed to our terms... Not visa-versa.... Think you have misread something here. The post was to do with us caring if he were shit and nothing to do with who agreed to who's terms! Indeed I did misread and for that I apologise... I wouldnt have cared if he was crap and had scored one goal in 45 appearances as long as, in the case of Brett Holman, it was clear that it wasnt working and it was in the best interests of both parties for the contract to be stopped as soon as possible... Brett wanted first team football and we couldnt provide it to him anymore.... However, in the case of Benteke, he signed the contract we gave to him... Its still in our best interests for him to play up front and score goals for us as we are well under the impression that he can still do the job he is receiving a wage for. It is our clubs perogative as the employer to decide when we want him to stay and when we want him to go... We put the money into his pocket and he agreed to our terms over other companies/teams for a pre-determined period of time... If he wasn't happy, he shouldnt have accepted the offer, the length of time or any part/parcel of the contract... but he did... By all rights, he is our bitch for another 3 years... Screw what he did for the past 11 months, that was his job... He signed up to another 3 years of that!!!
  9. My words werent in jest whatsoever... F**k him sideways... If he signs a contract, he should honour it... If we HAD be relegated and he had a release clause, BY ALL MEANS, we wouldnt have a leg to stand on and he could go.... BUT We weren't and he didnt... So he needs to shut up, pull on the shirt and put the ball in the net like he is meant to and his agent needs to help with sponsorship and whatever else it is that agents are meant to do without acting like overpaid pimps for giggalos in sportswear ............................. Be grateful for that and be happy we are getting big money to improve the team. He doesn't owe us anything. Erm... what about honouring the rest of the 4 year contract he and his agent were more than happy to sign less than 12 months ago? Im fairly certain he owes us enough to shut his mouth, do his job and play football whilst wearing our shirt and crest until the date on a certain piece of paper that resembles an employment contract that has the scribble that roughly looks like his name on it expires... It should be down to another club to make a bid that we are willing to except or for us to say he is welcome to leave before he is allowed to make any choices regarding his future... He should have no rights but to kick a ball and do as he is told.... He is paid FAAAAR too much as it is... Until he decides to retire, his rights as a human being should also be forfeit... After all, he could have joined the military, earned a shite side less and been shot at for a living... You take the rough with the smooth! without him wed play now in the championship... and without us, he would still be playing in Belgium and nobody would have known who he was except for yourself! he was a belgian international there was alot of interest in him from other clubs Really? Well, from the sounds of a lot of people on this message board when we signed him, and the general consensus about Christian Benteke at the end of the season from fans of other clubs in the Premier League was 'Who the hell is that guy, how had we never heard of him and why did Villa sign him and not us?'

  14. It may well be the agent trying to get the best deal he can right now. Football is a pretty fickle sport. Benteke could do his knee during preseason training and not play again. He might have a difficult second season and fall out of favour. His hype is very high right now due to a strong start to the year. His agent probably wants to strike whilst the iron is hot and secure a contract that will set him up as a millionaire whilst he can. If he did a Casiraghi, made a big money move, ruptured his cruciate and had to quit forever... THAT would be the most beautiful and poetic thing to happen right about now...
  15. We should make a deal with Spurs... We will sell you Benteke for £25m.... AFTER you sell Bale to whoever for however much... Why should we lose what everyone else sees as our crown jewel and they not lose theirs??
  16. I hope for 3 things I hope: A - We sell him for a hefty profit B - We sign someone who scores and provides more than he does that clearly takes a shine to us and doesn't have a sneaky bastard agent and finally C - Christian Benteke and his agent fail at whatever club they engineer a move to and inexplicably both catch the ebola virus Not much to ask for... Only fair...
  17. Im actually praying the reason for this decision is that he has seen Helenius in training and thought: 'Shit, this guy is good... I'm not going to be the big man on campus anymore... I could lose my place in the team and my spot in the World Cup... This Helenius guy is really, REALLY good...' Its wishful thinking... but at least its semi-positive :-D
  18. Bite your tongue. Players, managers, owners, sometimes even stadiums -- they're all temporary. Fans are what make the club. You're one of us now. Villa til we die, Belgian Guy. Not your fault BG... You, like us, are just 'a fan'... and although some players harp on about how important the fans are... Its just lip service... They don't give a monkeys about us... We see players come and players go.... Sometimes they stay and actually love the club (alas Gabby and Weimann)... Sometimes they scarper when it suits them like Messrs Yorke, Milner, Barry, Downing and, in this case, Tekkers... We will make a tidy profit and, fingers crossed, Helenius will be our diamond we picked up on the sly this season that nobody has heard of and everybody underestimates
  19. You managed to conclude all that from a bunch of copy and paste twitter bollocks? Reports on skysports, reports on here and articles in online newspapers to be perfectly honest... I noticed the other day there was an article on SSN that then miraculously got taken off 3 hours later entitled 'Belhanda switch decision imminent' or something to that tune. So, back to my original point, IF we indeed are in for him and IF indeed he really does want to play Premier League football above and over everything else; he should be hounding his agent and his club to push the move through ASAP 'Aston Villa want me, I want Premier League football, get it done'
  20. Its nice to see people getting behind Agbonlahor in comparison to the broadsides he was getting 48 pages ago when McClueless was in charge and people were saying we should have sold him... He is one of us and loves the club more than anything... We should be busting our nuts to keep him with us till he decides to jack it in... May not be a legend to some now, but if he stays with us his entire career, I think it would be a bit stingy to not allow him that accolade...
  21. Never heard of this matey before this thread, but by the sounds of it, if we indeed ARE in for him, he isn't exactly moving mountains to come and play for us... Sounds like a bit of a clearing in the woods to be honest... 'I want to play in the Premier League' 'My decision will be made imminently'... Then some UAE team and apparently Kiev come in and he is thinking twice and dragging his feet... If we sign him and he is good, great stuff! but by the way he has gone about things building up to it, I have been put off by his attitude
  22. Still hate him for leaving us... Dont care if he did it for footballing reasons or if he won stuff at City (as if that is meant to make it better)... But for the sake of having an experienced head in the middle of the park for a couple of seasons, I would take him back in a heartbeat... Its not like he would be expecting to play 90 minutes every week and having someone with his know-how would certainly take the pressure off Westwood et al. when the going got tough
  23. Helenius for me... I would love to see Benteke stay and do well, then Helenius step straight up and belt the goals in left, right and centre too... The mere idea that we could have two bangin' strikers playing for us that really shit up the opposition makes me tingle in my happy regions!
  24. What about Dion Dublin? He was wicked!
