Be careful - I got stung in Krakow because the laptop would not power up and the power cable was with the rest of the checked-in luggage. When it wouldn't power up, I was promptly told to "throw it away" as they could not take it on as hand luggage. Needless to say, that was not going to happen and when I requested that it be put in the hold, I was more or less frog-marched back to the check-in desk to check in my rucksack into the hold. It cost me a fortune and if it wasn't for a bit of good luck, I would have missed my flight. If you need to take a laptop into hand luggage, I would suggest that it is fully charged (you say you want to take on a charger as well so make sure you have a power converter if needed).

    Running

Never say never. You could add a few miles (I say a few, it's only seven. What's seven miles, it's nothing! ) and do the London marathon. Gooooooo, Jenny!

19 miles? Good grief, woman! Someone could get the impression that you're an athlete or something
  4. I happen to be enjoying the Adele concert on BBC1 now. Gotta give her some credit, she has some talent.
  5. Cheers. I'm not obese, far from it, but I want to be confident when joining these things. Hmmm, maybe I'll see what I can do.
  6. I do love that song, wiggy. I find it strangely, really relaxing.
  7. I'm always looking at joining a few dating sites and seeing where it leads me. Problem is, I'm always telling myself that I'll do it once I shed a few pounds
  8. I'm starting to get deeply concerned about this season. I was worried about 6 months ago but it seems to be growing day on day. This is not good!
  9. We're now below West Brom in the table. Dreadful.
  10. Just as I was about to head off out...GET IN! Looks like I'll be hanging around for a tad longer
  11. Your post was very eloquently put. I would like to think that he will read posts like this.
  12. As an aside from the nuclear debate, I stumbled across this site today. It is really interesting stuff and goes to show how unstable the region is (16 small(ish) quakes so far today). It also gives volcano information, etc.
  13. I've refrained from posting in this thread whilst trying to collect my thoughts. I simply couldn't and still can't put it into words how I feel right now. Totally stunned. My heartfelt best wishes go out to him and his family.
  14. In the UK, we're not likely to suffer catastrophic earthquakes and tsunamis. Sadly, the Japanese were always at a risk from both events and tragically, they deemed the risk in the technology fine until something changed that, something that was so catastrophic (but was always going to happen one day). Fukushima sits on one of the world's most active tectonic plate movement zones in the world and sits on the coast - there was always a risk that a huge earthquake, coupled with a monster tsunami was going to impact it. Nobody could have foreseen the devastating effect that the tsunami was going to have but I'm frankly amazed that the plant still exists at all. Comparing potential new UK nuclear sites to Fukushima is bonkers.

    Fuel watch

I've just been told by a friend in Portsmouth that all garages they've tried are out of diesel, they're running on fumes and have to make it to Dover this evening. She said that they've now been sat in a queue at Petersfield (way out of town) for the past half an hour hoping that they don't run out before it's her turn. Absolutely ridiculous.

    Fuel watch

The country is full of fucktards. It hasn't even been announced that a strike will take place and at worse, we're looking at a strike after the Easter break. I'm annoyed: yesterday I got stung £1.46 for unleaded which was essential as my poor little Aygo was running on fumes and it looks like if I've got rid of this lurgy, I'll be driving to Portsmouth on the weekend. So this means I'll be sat in queues over the weekend, trying to at least get as much as needed for the journey and paying ridiculous prices. Normally, I would have waited and let the panic reduce until the strike as actually been announced, but oh no, the great British public and its government cover themselves in glory yet again meaning we're all paying the price. Part of me thinks that this is a ploy by the Government to favour support (us v the union) and take the heat away from other not-so-nice stores. Nice way to stoke the fire, Dave. The other thing that annoys me is when receiving comments from friends saying they're all up for the strike as it'll make the government reduce fuel prices. It is nothing like the blockage of 2000 and IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH FUEL PRICES!!!! Jeez.
