    General, how can our club have ambition when Randy continues to sell its best players. I know there is time to bring in replacments but do you actually believe the outgoing players will be replaced with better quality? This club is getting ridiculous. Time to go. Fixing up the pub and laying mosaic tiles doesnt fool us.

    I cringed with disgust when the woman on SSN said that Downing is going to a top Premier League club after one good season. Wasnt there a day when we were up there too? Randy Lerner has finally shown that we are indeed a selling club. He could have kept Downing for 1 more season and still got £17million. No amount of bullshit from the General can hide the fact the ambition is gone and we are a club happy with midtable.

    Does it matter what we get for him if we cant find a replacement with the same quality? Sometimes its not to do with money but how weak it leaves the team for the season ahead. Downing is among the top rated players in the opta stats. Read the article on F365.com

    Great news. Would like to see us loan him out for a full season while signing another 2 strikers after getting rid of Heskey.

    Excellent keeper but his history with injuries scares me. We havent got a decent No.2 who we would more than likely need at some stage in a season.

    I hope we do sell him if he goes as far as putting in a transfer request but only to Arsenal. Walcott in exchange maybe.

    Slightly off topic but regarding the same position. When is Luke Youngs contract up? I though he became a free agent this summer?

    Dont fool yourselves with all the Downing bashing now. If he leaves our team will be weaker even if we sign Nzogbia. Without him last season we wouldnt be in this division. 15million is ridiculous money, i think we would still get that for him next summer with only 1 year left on his contract. Liverpool are said to have offered Ngog as part of the deal, seriously, this guy is crap.

    Do you really think Adam Johnson would cost between 7 and 10 million if you reckon DOwning is worth 17million? I think Johnson will be a better player than Downing once he gets a full season under his belt.

    Its ok saying let him go but who is out there to replace him? It would have to be a young untested player as any experienced pro with talent and ambition would not join a midtable club who is selling 4 of its best players in 3 seasons.(Barry,Milner, Young,Downing)

    Maybe, just maybe we are missing something. General Krulak said Fergie rates AM highly or something like that so is it possible that he isnt as bad as we think and has played defensive negative football because thats all he could do with his budget?

    What will happen if McLeish is actually appointed? A few guys will moan on a forum and maybe a banner or 2 for a couple of weeks at Villa Park until we get a couple of wins under our belt. Or will there be mass demonstrations, petitions and an empty stadium in protest? Hmmmmmmmm, exciting times at the Villa.     I wont judge Randy on whether he makes McLeish manager i will judge him on how he backs the manager THIS transfer window. That statment mentions making AVFC sustainable and i think its basically saying we have to cut costs and sell to buy. If Young and Downing leave and we bring in crap replacments the future will be very bleak until a new owner is in charge.
