  1. Santa Cruz - great name, great player. Ashton although a great player has had some injury problems.
  2. I agree, this superficial work will not win us football matches, and I'd swap all of these for a few decent players! I for one am very depressed at the thought of starting the season with no recognised fullbacks; there is no excuse for this whatsoever. A couple of injuries and we will be struggling this season, and with the UEFA deadline looming in the next few days things look rather bleak. Furthermore, after all the talk all the posturing Barry will be sold after all; things go from bad to worse very quickly. 'General' please answer me this question: are we to replace the international quality of the likes of Mellberg and Barry before the season's kick-off?
  3. I'm not the only one. But you're the one stirring things up, what's wrong with you? And a tabloid newpaper article does not quantify as a 'transfer request' as far as Aston Villa Football Club is concerned. Ask the 'general' and I'm sure he would laugh at such an irrelevant question!
  4. Oh dear. Another one. Very constructive, you are a 'wind-up' merchant! So, when do football clubs listen to players via the press? When did Barry actually hand in a written transfer request then? As far as I'm aware Barry hasn't done that yet for fear of losing a share of the transfer fee. You should really starting thinking before posting. In legal terms, a transfer request can be official, unofficial, verbal or written. The whole country has seen a document containing direct quotes from Barry expressing his desire to leave Aston Villa. That is a transfer request. If, for whatever reason, Barry contested that in court, he would lose. And you should really try to be more respectful instead of winding up opposing fans on a message board. However, if what you say is true then it's the first I've heard of it. In fact I was always under the impression a formal letter needed to be written to the club?

  6. Why should Villa negotiate? Liverplop know the price, and considering your team 'tapped up' Barry I'm surprised Villa are even entertaining the notion of selling. Manure are saying that Ronaldo is not for sale when the evidence points to the fact that he would want to leave! That's hilarious! I think you'll find this has to be in writing to the club itself.
  7. Or the fright of your life if you see unpleasnt things? Yes that's true if one has the wrong focus in their life; I believe if one is an ethical agent all will be well.
  8. Tapping into your spiritual consciousness will give you the biggest high you have ever experienced. For many this is a difficult path of perseverance which is often easier to find with the aid of drugs.
  9. Anderson Silva vs James Irvin before that with Silva moving up a weight class. Could be fun as Silva has already wiped the floor with the entire middleweight opposition. Silva is an absolute joy to watch, I will NEVER get tired of him destroying people. I concur Anderson Silva at the moment appears far too good for the UFC weight class or not the martial arts teach you how to beat stronger opponents with your technique and strategy. Silva's opponent might have 'knockout' power but it's irrelevant if he can't hit him!
  10. I voted Daniel Day-Lewis based on his presence in many better movies than the other actors. However, I like Christian Bale who will probably begin to receive roles similar to the ones given to Daniel Day-Lewis. I used to like Johnny Depp until I remembered my childhood favorite Buster Keaton and after revisiting those films of Keaton's again I can firmly conclude that there is no doubt that Depp "tips the hat" firmly towards the genius of Keaton's stoic performances.
  11. And its Lynyrd Skynyrd by the way, and whose first few albums are very good; blues, Rock 'n' Roll with some folk thrown in for good measure.
  12. I voted Oasis purely because they are much worse than Coldplay who I don't really like either! I must admit I think Joy Division and New Order are pure rubbish too! Probably for much the same reason as I dislike Oasis - a distinct lack of vocal talent!
  13. Yea, I'm glad he won, thoroughly deserved it too! Interesting to note that Amir had no pro-fights either before the the qualifier to actually get in the house.
  14. GONG - 'Zero The Hero And The Witch's Spell'.
  15. Re: Barry. 'General' we cannot sell our best players to our closest rivals! I'm worried about this situation, if Barry goes I would think that we'd struggle to replace him. I know nobody is bigger than the Villa but we'd be losing a quality player; next year I predict Young will be off too as the precedent would have been set. Villa have been a 'feeder' club for the top teams for too long and unfortunately I cannot see this changing anytime soon. This happens all over the world, for example, in the SPL as soon as another team start to look like challenger's the 'top two' steal their best players, this is precisely why I can not see Villa finishing above the 'top four' for quite some time!
  16. Neither, they are both teams to dislike due to reasons not associated with football.
  17. No Blues, no Rock; try looking at it positively?
  18. Maybe because Lynott was predominately a Bass player?
  19. Ok, that's not bad mouthing him, my fault. And Hendrix I can agree on, and so would Brian, I'm sure of that. But Clapton, van Halen and Page? They weren't ahead of Brian, never in a million years. Agree to disagree... Brian May, as nice a bloke as he is, never did anything innoventive unlike the rest of the list (Knofler excluded) he was a good pop guitarist, maybe even the bext "Pop" Guitarist, nowhere near one of the best in the world, not even in the top 30! Hm, agree to disagree and all that, but to say that he wasn't innoventive is just pure wrong, I'm sorry to say. Then you know nothing about him as a guitarplayer. After Hewndrix and maybe guys like Vai and van Halen, he's probably the most innoventive there has been. For one thing the sound he had was never equalled by any other guy. Like the sound or not, many tried to copy it but no one had any success. And AFAIK he's the only great guitarplayer that ever made his own guitar. When I was young I used to listen Queen, then I grew up and realised they were shite, Brian May is the cheesiest axe-slinger I've ever had the misfortune to hear. Hendrix is the best on that list by far and was the most innovative guitarist bar none; Page runs him close. Incidently, did you know that Clapton disbanded Cream after hearing 'The Band' and their genius song-writer/axe-slinger Robbie Robertson, Clapton packed a bag and headed to Woodstock and begged 'The Band' to take him in, I hasten to add they'd never heard of him! Robertson should be on that list and technically is better than most of them. John Martyn too for that matter also is technically better, as is Ry Cooder, the list is endless; for those who may have never heard of these guitarists and see fit to comment on the mainstream like Van Halen and Queen and proclaim them as great guitarists, shame on you. What do you know!
  20. You know your stuff - Fantomas are so damn tight! But I'd go with Bonham for being the original.
  21. Yes, you're not wrong. Married four times wasn't he by the age of the 39 yrs! 'leviramsey' I'm not sure I follow exactly what you are saying? Are you are suggesting that one needs to be a certain age to appreciate various forms of music? I'm just 30yrs old and probably have the most electic musical taste of anyone I know, from Wagner to Fantomas, the list is varied to say the least!
  22. 'Wild Honey' is a very soulful album because Carl Wilson was in control for this project. Although 'Sunflower' is my personal favourite I really like 'Friends' and '20/20' too; all albums notable for the introduction of the genius Dennis Wilson and with more Rock & Roll and charisma than the Beatles combined. Dennis Wilson was truly a one of a kind and a tragic loss to music that he died only aged 39 years!
  23. Cage makes much more of an artistic statement, just think about it awhile?
  24. The Beatles tried to right songs like Good Vibrations and failed, many critics have claimed this song to be the most perfect in the history of modern music. As I said earlier, listen to 'Surf's Up' and tell me the Beatles could right something as creative and complicated. If 'Smile' had been released originally after 'Pet Sounds' then it would've have been the greatest album ever, the bootlegs and various mixes of songs for that album proved as such. 'Heroes and Villains' is more complex and creative than anything the Beatles had done and was a result of the 'Smile' sessions. Brian Wilson had made dozens and dozens of recordings to just the slightest segment of a particular song, unfortunately his drug-taking became more important and he just gave up on finishing the concept. He found it impossible to piece together the hundred of song parts to become a total work! As a result Brian as a creative entity ceased after this and we began to see the power battle between the experimental Carl and Dennis Wilson and the Pop shite of Al Jardine and Mike Love; the latter partnership is what really tarnishes the image of The Beach Boys to those not familar with this story and indeed with those who knew.
