  1. The Beach Boys all the way for me. The inspiration for the Beatles goes back before 'Pet Sounds' to 'All Summer Long' (1964) and 'Today' (1965) especially side 2 of that particular album. The song 'Surf's Up' is more creative than anything the Beatles had done. I do really like George Harrison who was the best and most creative Beatle in my opinion!
  2. General, a few have commented on the refreshments in the Trinity Road; I too queued for beer for over twenty minutes thus missing around five or six minutes of the game. I propose a plan; recently I visited the Allianz Arena to watch Bayern Munich. Before entering the ground visitors can buy a card which has various values, this is necessary to buy any type of refreshment and thus saves time in finding change, making the transaction and so forth. A card reader deducts the value from the card and at the end of the day you are reimbursed the difference of the card from the booth. Secondly, at the Allianz there are specific outlets which cater for certain products whether that is beer, snacks or something more substantial. In essence it might be best to have a few outlets providing only beer. This would be prudent especially considering the fact that Villa Park should become much busier over the next years if we are to become a consistent football team.
  3. Great idea General, especially for us fans who are outwith the country. Quick question for you regarding Gareth Barry, it has been muted that Liverplop are about to launch a bid of £10million for our Captain (no smoke without fire). I would suggest that this is absolute arrogance of the highest order if this is indeed true, as I would value Barry at around £20million. Barry has been one of the most consistent performers for Villa over the last years and this is a commodity that is very difficult to replace without the worthwhile funds. Thanks again General for your time! Up the VILLA.
  4. From my perspective I think it is natural that the prices have gone up considering inflation and that we are on the back of what seems to be a very good season. Thanks again General for your time on this board! Up the VILLA!
  5. Re: Man Ure. General, in light of our destruction by Man Ure I believe that Villa need to have at least two or three quality additions to the first team XI as it is apparent that we cannot compete. I understand that the team works hard and there is no fault in that however at times we seem unable to string more than a few passes together. Of most annoyance is that Villa's worst record in our history is against this team and further exemplified by the fact that we haven't beaten them in the league since 1993! I and no doubt many others are fed up of being trounced by them every season but it is unfortunately predictable, many indeed forecasted a 4-0 scoreline! In essence unless we are to concede to Man Ure every season it is imperative that we must sign some players that would maybe be worthy of their team, at the moment Villa are light years away from this. This is no criticism, because I and many others are thankful to you, Randy and O'Neill because there has been progress. However, we need to invest in quality and not squad players. Next season Tottenham will be very much our rivals as they will undoubtedly spend big. Everton too will spend as will Man City and Newcastle, Villa cannot be left behind; signing the likes of the Jimmy Bullard's of this world will not get Villa challenging these teams let alone the 'Top four'. Thanks for your time General and I wish you well.
  6. The simplest way to answer the question is to understand the nature of the subjective and objective debate and to define the implications of relativism.
  7. Quality album - Yuen Biao. If you like that i suggest you check out the Lyre of Orpheus/Abbotoir Blues double album and The Boatmans Call I'm currently listening to Dengue Fever - Tiger Phonecard .... absolutely quality and infectious - the album is spot on too a strange mix of US alt rock mixed in with Cambodian grooves Nice one will do! Currently listening to Kraftwerk - Neon Lights from 'The Man Machine' album. Just got into Kraftwerk and they are very influential to many bands, quite unbelievable really!
  8. 'Dig, Lazarus, Dig' - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. Was never much of a fan of Nick Cave as I thought he was a Tom Waits imitator, but I'm beginning to warm to the man's music.
  9. chrissmith921 - However, to counter that there is some thought that Villa will indeed have to move with the times and that we do not want to be in a position of 'cutting off our noses'. Financially speaking, Villa will have to agree for fear of not competing with the others in the league; we can still do this and keep our heritage and tradition as this will not be hindered. Some of us are too keen to live in the past; I for one would love to see Villa playing overseas and reaping the financial rewards. All things in life evolve and develop, football, business, and life all are entwined in this process; it is known as flux!
  10. LOL. Has to be number three for me! It represents Villa's classy new era our proud history.
  11. I personally am not a big fan due mostly to the grappling aspect which can often make it very boring to watch. I think predominately the sport is geared for the wrestler/grappler and this can contribute towards the nature of the fight. In terms of this being a true example of a fight I would disagree, as a martial artist myself one should floor the opponent in a second and not entertain the 'going to ground' aspect which in a street encounter could be very dangerous. However, in a 'sport' scenario with rules and a referee this 'sport' is sanitised. I think Anderson Silva can be and has been entertaining to watch due to his skills which incorporate many different systems. However, many of the fighter's are brawlers at best in my humble opinion!
  12. Hatton was totally outclassed by a much more skillful and smarter fighter. Although I wanted Hatton to win you have to admire the elusive skill of Mayweather; and his movement was so much better as Hatton just could not hit him in the latter rounds. Hatton was found wanting and said after the fight that he was frustrated by Mayweather's use of the forearms and elbows to block his punches; this is where Mayweather knows his boxing as he was always side-on to Hatton who was attacking in a linear fashion making it too easy as Mayweather always had one side covered. Furthermore, for those of you who are interested Mayweather used his forearms and elbows in a similar way to how a martial artist would block; often seen in arts like Taijiquan and Wing Chun with using his waste to simplify movement effectively.
  13. Agbonlahor is on course for twenty, although I voted for 15-18 and Villa would be in a good position if that was to be the case!
  14. My team for Sunday: ...........................Carson.................. Gardner.....Mellberg.......Laursen.......Bouma Agbonlahor....Reo-Coker.....Barry......Young ...............Carew..........Moore This is of course if Carew is fit, and I think we'd be more solid with Laursen and Mellberg in the middle! I know some do not like Agbonlahor on the right but he tracks back and is obviously very quick and would help protect Gardner better than Petrov would.
  15. Tomahawk - Mescal Rite. Oasis are parrots, and are a crime to music!
  16. I really hope all this talk of Koumas is to fill papers. I really think Koumas is rather an average player. On the contrary I know Reo-Coker took some flak from the Spammers fans but I think he is a better player, very much in the mould of the legendary Ian Taylor!
  17. I would never be so disrespectful as to call someone an idiot, it wasn't me! However, as with the majority of names listed on this irrelevant thread I believe they are mostly unsuitable for Villa. Specifically Paolo Maldini, as someone alluded to would not last half a season in the Premier League as he is too old for that level. Fair enough I hear you cry that he has just played in the CL however he was fairly conspicuous by his absence. The Premier League has come too late for that particular horse, in my humble opinion!
  18. I'm very confused by both your syntax and semantics - do you even know what you are talking about? Anyhow, is it not about time for Maldini to retire at 39yrs old, the majority of players usually do.
  19. Yeah Mr. Oddo, it's just comical. However, I think Micah Richards should be high on Villa's list although I feel Chelski may get him!
