  1. The transfer window is still open. We have made a couple of usefull signings so far. If we are in the same position, squad wise in 18 days time, I'd be concerned. I do not believe we will be, so roll on the season opener.
  2. Don't think there will be much doubt we will be doing our best to drink Vienna dry.
  3. Going Wednesday from Gatwick. Only get back from France on Tuesday the wife is going to kill me.
  4. Flights booked, now for the tickets. Never been to Vienna, been to most European capitals so looking forward to the trip.
  5. Get a job on one of the Red Tops, better journalism than they all could muster.
  6. His form has dropped like a stone over the last 2 months. But no matter how low in confidence you are, your workrate should not drop, in facr it should increase as you try to regain your self belief. Gabby's poor attitude and his poor workrate are the things that dissapoint me most. MON should have dropped him weeks ago. I still think he will have a big part to play in the last 6 games of the season.
  7. At the start of the season 5th would have been brilliant. 4 games ago 5th would have been a disaster. Today I feel we still aren't good enough for Champions League, so 5th would be about right. The worry I have is this year was our best chance to gatecrash, with the inconsistency of 3 of the Top Four. Next year we will have to seriously improve just to stand still. Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton cannot have as many injuries as this and Man City will spend big in the summer, so unless something really improves our squad, we will once again be struggling for 5th-7th. Am I desondent? No we are still so much better than 3 years ago. Will we get Champions League in the next 3 years? Unless it's this year, then I cannot see us achieving it. But we will be established as a Top 6 club.
  8. You're probably best sticking to the Sharpe series then!!
  9. Nice article BOF, although I'm Brummie born and bred, I was at school in South Birmingham during the early 60's and at that time it was very much a north/south divide between Villa and Blues. Getting relegated to the third certainly resulted in my support being tempered in the flames of derision. I had the same feelings towards other things, music, films, TV etc, not liking things everyone else did. Even at my age, I've already had the Glory Hunter jibe. Enjoy it and hope it lasts.
  10. 5th Generation Brummie, on both sides of the family. We don't get out much!!!
  11. For what he delivered against what he cost, can't really class him in the hero category. But, as fans we will always see him as one of our own, mainly due to the "£" campaign, which forced Ellis' to come up with the cash. He always had a great connection with the fans, both on and off the field, which I will always remember. We Villa fans love our number 9, when a player responds the way JPA did, he will always be remembered fondly. Not a flop, not a hero, but certainly one to be respected.
  12. Video Technology should only be used to decide fact. Did it cross the line Yes or No? Are the players 10 yards away? Matters of opinion should not decided by someone elses opinion. Unlike Cricket, Rugby Union and Rugby League, where technology is appropriate and simple to apply, football is not a game of phases. Until someone can give an appropriate way to re-start after an interuption in play, then VT will not be bought in. Example, with the Hull game, piece of cake, either a penalty, goal kick or corner. But what decision could be given if the ball had hit the bar and come back into play and cleared up field to an unmarked Villa player, with Hull GK up for the corner. Any ideas? Difficult, so no you can't introduce VT for open play.
  13. Or indeed there arses when they were catapulted out of the gliders and knocked unconscious, before getting up and getting stuck in to the bridge defences. Astonishingly brave men. I went to Pegasus Bridge once as a kid and, while I can't remember any details about it, I do recall it feeling like a special place. Must go back there one day. First guy to get killed on the bridge, Lt Den Brotheridge was a Brummie. Brilliant place to visit, great museum with a full size replica Horsa glider in the grounds, was there last year.
  14. Hi General, agree with everyone else re pricing for the home games, spot on. Any news when the away games will go on sale? Flights & hotels booked, just need the tickets. Regards
  15. Appeared on a British No 1 single.
  16. Thanks General, reading between the lines as ordered.. Sorry General, you can't change allegiance like that. espeically as I'm a Redskin fan.
  17. Hi General, just like to ask how long it will take to wipe the smile off your face thinking back on the dog's abuse you took only a few weeks ago. I think you should change your sig from Semper Fidelis to "He who laughs last, laughs loudest". Keep up the good work, you are doing OK (Brummie understatement to the fore)
  18. As the Marine Corps is 3 times the size of the entire British Army and the Royal Marines are 3 Battalions, seem obvious
  19. Currently 20% have voted for Mellberg. Much as I have enjoyed watching Olly, I am certain whoever has voted for him must be too young to have had the honour of seeing the great man in action. God was head and shoulders better,
  20. I'm assuming you are asking if there will be organised trips by the club and not asking the General for a sub?
  21. Sorry to answer the question on behalf of the General, but as I work in the business I may be able to offer an explanation. The use of vending machines for alchohol is dependant on a check on a persons age prior to entering the premises. At VP this cannot be done, so I'm afraid your idea is a non starter. It would be better if we could get better staff in my opinion.
  22. Well General, that's what your club is all about. Passion and Class. Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did? Up the Villa
