  1. The series has ended over here and I thought it was brilliant and very well done. Part 9 is probably my favorite. About the names - It's probably easy for me to keep track since I'm familiar with the books the series is based on, but they do say each other's names quite a bit. Leckie's buddies generally only go by their nicknames since Leckie didn't use their real names in his memoir.
  2. I don't think it was far off. In Leckie's book he calls their time in Melbourne 'The Great Debauch.' No, he's not a character. The miniseries was originally planned to have 13 episodes focusing on 5 main characters, one of them a pilot, but they cut it down. You do see some corsairs bomb Bloody Nose Ridge in episode 7, though. For me, the miniseries started off a bit slow but it's been getting better and better. The Peleliu arc was as good as anything I saw in Band of Brothers, and last night's episode with Basilone and Iwo Jima was very well done too. I love Band of Brothers, but at times it was a bit too romantic, a bit too polished, and had more of a 'Greatest Generation' feel to it. Nothing wrong with that, and they were probably more respectful since a lot of the men depicted were still alive at the time. What I like about The Pacific is that it goes where Band of Brothers wouldn't. They complement each other quite well.
  3. The last couple episodes have been excellent. The landing at Peleliu in particular was really well done.
  4. I think the first two episodes are supposed to be the weakest. We don't get to know the characters through their boot camp experience like we did in Band of Brothers. That type of episode probably wouldn't have worked for this as Basilone was already in the military and Sledge hasn't joined yet, but they should've provided a bit more background. We did get a taste of the brutality to come though, and I noticed they got the 'decapitated head with a severed dick shoved in its mouth' scene in pretty quickly.
  5. I thought the first episode could've been longer as it felt a bit rushed. Loved the scenes on Guadalcanal though, especially when they're watching the naval battle.
  6. Starts March 14 in the US. There are some trailers here.
  7. If anyone's interested, Fox Soccer Channel is replaying the game and it can be seen here. Just started a few minutes ago.
  8. I'd say 9 right now. Love my job and I got there before I expected to. No money worries. Love living in New York. No stress as I live a relaxed lifestyle. I like being single at the moment as it leaves me free to try new things, like Puerto Rican girls.
  9. Little Black Boy Lil O'Reilly Lil O'Reilly Part 2
  10. Shifty Powers, one of the guys portrayed in Band of Brothers, just passed away a couple weeks ago. My favorite scene is when they're in the church and the faces of the dead and wounded disappear. And here's a new trailer for The Pacific
  11. Remember when I threw Murdoc into a pool of acid? How is that not cooler than fighting some pussy-ass snakes on a **** plane? Jerks.
  12. The Kivin Method. It's the gift that keeps on giving, and she'll love you forever.
  13. I'd say Lost is the best out of that list. Band of Brothers is in a different class. I was also a big fan of Oz. And special mention to Brimstone even though it was only on for one season.
  14. Having stubble on your face is like having rust on your Porsche. Get rid of that shit. I'm a bit of a shave nazi, though. If shaving irritates your face, the best thing you can do is to get rid of the goo in a can and to start using shave soap or quality cream and a shave brush. Don't try to get rid of it all at once; do a few passes. And don't apply too much pressure on the blade--you'll get razor burn. Also, you don't need a razor that has more than one blade as they do more harm than good. Truth is, most guys have no idea how to get a really good shave.
  15. Cry, Piggy, cry. Is that Carson Yeung clown still around?

I thought this was kind of amusing: EDIT: Upon further inspection, the New York Mets have, in fact, been Rickroll'd: and Here
