  1. Don't go round in circles with this argument again. We can all see that we're building for the immediate future this season which is good. Lambert should have realised sooner in the season that the defence was very poor by Premier League standards though and played more defensive/offered more protection from the midfield than he has.
  2. The thing that annoys me about Wigan is that they have no real place in the Premier League. They don't have the fanbase, they're not going to attract serious investment. They can't survive a relegation scrap every year and once they go down (which they will soon even if they stay up this year) there's a good chance they won't come back. There are sides in the Championship that can have a serious crack at establishing themselves in the Premier League (Cardiff, Leicester, Forest, Leeds, maybe Brighton). Wigan aren't going to do it. I'm sure that hugely offends Wigan fans but let's face it when you leave 10,000 tickets unsold for an FA Cup semi-final the writing is on the wall that you've reached your ceiling as a club.
  3. I don't understand his recent selection either. Only my opinion but it smacks of arrogance from Lambert.
  4. Pressure is on Wigan now, it's hard to see where their points will come from. At Man City At West Ham v Spurs At West Brom v Swansea at Arsenal v Villa I would say they have to be targeting wins against us, Swansea and/or West Brom to stay up.
  5. My endearing image of Ciaran Clark from this season is West Brom away when he got matched up with Lukaku and looked absolutely terrified. I mean scared shitless.
  6. I can't speak highly enough of the lad. Great to watch a defender who enjoys defending.
  7. The Sunderland game is looming large. Win and we can start looking forward to next season, lose and we are deep in the shit, draw and we will have to go to Norwich and/or Wigan and get a result.
  8. If Ciaran Clark gets automatically inserted back into the starting line-up I would be sickened
  9. Have to give Lambert credit, it's starting to come together. I do wonder how he picks the team/squad because there's often a surprise and often a player who goes from starting several games to being left out the squad (Bannan today), is it based on effort in training? Nevertheless, after 3 wins out of 4 I'm more inclined to believe Lambert knows what he's doing more so than I've been at any point this season.
  10. Only seen the goals, delighted. Things are starting to look up. They really are. Only need a couple of wins to stay up and I'm confident we'll get them. Keep hold of Benteke, Guzan and Weimann, keep on developing Westwood, Lowton and Baker develop, couple of good signings and we could do some damage next season.
  11. I would guess Bowery on one of the wings, maybe right, maybe Weimann upfront
  12. For me it has to be one of Bannan or Westwood and not both. They are too similar in style and mindset.
  13. Give Baker a break. I'm not sure I've ever seen a player with the twisting/turning/wriggling technique that Suarez uses. The guy is just a nightmare to play against. Baker deserves to start ahead of Clark from what I've seen this season.
  14. We had a decent go but their class won out. I wouldn't knock the effort of the team though. Starting Bannan was a mistake, should have started Delph. Weimann going off hurt us (although he was injured? It was hard to tell). The El Ahmadi for Sylla sub was shocking. I was at the game and I have to admit that after the great atmosphere against QPR (which I was also at) a lot of fans pissed me off today. I don't know if it was because there were a lot of family members tagging along with it being Easter Sunday but the amount of fans wandering off throughout the match annoyed me. It's obviously worst at 40 mins and 85 mins (which I don't understand anyway, the most critical moments of each half and people are happy to miss it to either buy some manky chips or so they can get home 30 minutes earlier) but it was all through the game today. Sit down and watch the game FFS.
  15. Boris Johnson thinks the stadium can make £10m a year in revenues which is just nonsense.
  16. The renovation of the £600m stadium will cost approx £190m and West Ham have agreed to pay £15m plus £2m a year. The LLDC couldn't negotiate a better deal than that FFS. How many years have they been negotiating and that's the best deal they could get. West Ham will use the proceeds from the sale of their current ground to clear all of their debts. The whole thing stinks really. The other London clubs are surely fuming.
  17. I'm not totally against legally screwing the Government out of money but the way those scumbags have managed it is quite astonishing. How much profit can they make out of selling West Ham in a few years time? Hundreds of millions? Astonishing.
  18. I've been critical of Lambert all season but you have to admit the guy has serious balls. Any other young manager would be terrified of alienating senior players. Lambert seems to relish it.
  19. The FA - always good for a laugh.
  20. Just remembered I watched Silver Linings Playbook and Django: Unchained last week as well. Django. Fantastic. 9/10. Pretty much what I was expecting but so, so much to enjoy. Silver Linings. 5/10. Was expecting to love this movie and it really was meh. SPOILER The major problem I had with Silver Linings was who places huge bets with their best friends? No one does, it's so dumb. I understand that in America because of the gambling laws a lot of people will have personal 'bookies' (although these are typically guys in vegas, not just a local illegal bookie) but no-one is going to have a bookie who's their best friend, you just wouldn't stay friends for long. So dumb, ruined the movie for me.
  21. Watched Skyfall earlier. I thought the first and last action scenes were excellent but it was pretty boring in the middle. Very dumb film really but would have been good in the cinema. SPOILER: If you're trying to escape in the dark why put on a torch?? Seriously, what the hell.
  22. It may go against most of the comments in this thread but I thought his new sketch show was very funny. I would encourage anyone to give it a go. His main character, most popular character or whatever in the cap and the shorts I never found funny but some of his other characters made me laugh.
  23. I couldn't resist doing the predictions on the bbc website as well. I had us staying up on 37 points and I'm generally a pessimist so I feel okay right now.
