  1. It will be Keane or Doyle I think. So no, not over £15 million.
  2. Poor performance overall and a really bad 2 points to drop. Some disappointing patterns of play in Collins, and Cuellar to a lesser extent, struggling for outlets and waiting for runs that never came and in the amount of high balls lofted into their box too aimlessly and/or too deep. Heskey's first touch was terrible far too often and he posed no goal threat and added little to build up play. Should have been subbed. Milner was below his best, Warnock's passing was atrocious and Downing made a series of disappointing decisions to check, hit deep crosses or not hit Ash when he was open. Cuellar was hit and miss again but not as bad as some make out i dont think. Petrov was great first half but should have been subbed after the warning. Friedel - 6 Warnock - 5 Cuellar - 6 Collins - 6 Dunne - 6 Petrov - 7 Milner - 6 Ash - 8 MOTM Downing - 5 Heskey - 4 Carew - 8 Such a shame after looking like we were going to tear them apart at the start of the game. As an aside, i was very impressed with Doyle. His hold up play, first touch and ability to turn players. Had we had him instead of Heskey, i dont think we'd be moaning about a draw.
  3. I thought Shutter Island was fantastic. Superbly acted, great story and although you can guess certain aspects, there is enough mystery over some of the events to keep you hooked for the reveal at the end. Having said that, the opinions in the group i was with ranged from this through to complete bobbins.
  4. Just seen and really enjoyed Moon. Maybe not film of the year contender stuff for me but a very well put together story, well executed.
  5. Watched a couple last night The Ugly Truth - 6/10, really average film. For some reason i thought it might be better than it was but this is one for young girls who can giggle at Gerard Butlers slightly smutty character. You wont dislike it and Katherine Heigl is worth an ogle as ever but dont go out your way to watch it. Unless of course you are a 16 year old girl. Also, once you realise the Gerard Butler has a mouth like popeye you are fixated on it! Mulholland Drive - 7/10, Very hard to rate a film that's brilliant in places with David Lynch doing bizzarre, creepy suspense to a T but is just so hard to get through. Like Inland Empire the unfolding of the story is an agonising experience and i'm not sure the ending quite fulfills the viewers need for clarity. That said, Naomi Watts and Laura Harring get it on, twice and Naomi once on her own. And speaking of Naomi Watts, she is brilliant in this. It's odd as i would have given it 6/10 last night after i finished watching it but am creeping towards an 8 or 9 now, it really is brilliant in places and stands out from the norm.
  6. This is me too. Being 100% certain does not imo automatically follow that you would reject new evidence blindly.
  7. Laursen shades it for me. At his best he was world class and the quality of his aggressive style of attacking the ball early is unmatched in any defender i've seen. Dunne isnt far behind him though, he's really excellent. As is Collins. And Cuellar. Davies isnt bad either.
  8. Body of lies is good and similar to Blood Diamond in highlighting some difficult political topics and conflicts. However, it lacks something and i'm not sure what. It's ok but i doubt youll watch it twice.
  9. In the Loop is hilarious. Political satire/spoof documentary directed by Armando Iannucci and is a spin off from his tv series The Thick of It. A very different comedy from The Hangover but i'd have to put it right up there. While Alan steals the show in The Hangover, Malcolm (Peter Capaldi) steals it in this as the angry scot delivering insult after insult with brilliance. Though the unforseeable 'plane in the fog' speech also near killed me.
  10. Have now seen Mesrine which was excellent but Let the Right One in got my vote as the 'best' film. It's a really excellent list and i would imagine i will watch Star Trek a fair few more times before i get bored of it. The only one i havent seen yet is Moon but that's on it's way. The only one i disagree with is The Hurt Locker which i thought completely failed as a story. It was a collection of tense scenes but needed alot more depth and cohesion to the story for it to be anywhere near this status.
  11. Diet and poverty. And on this side i'd say that Western styles of dress and make up probably help too.
  12. I had the same problems when i first started running Grant. I had a very good base fitness from football. I went to the gym a lot, played 11 a side and 5 a side twice a week, and also used to go circuit training. However, the first few times i tried to run longer distance for a prolonged period, it nearly killed me. Like you, i was used to all the stop/start/sprint/walk explove fitness of football. My body was simply not used to prolonged running without stopping. Took me a good few treadmill runs and a good bit of going through the pain barrier before long distnace running became anythign like normal or comfortable for me. but then there's the injuries associated with road running (especially the knees and more lately my achilles tendons). So now i'm back to the gym and football. I have come full circle. Cheers Jon, it's good to know i'm not the only one. Have managed another 4 runs this week and each time i'm looking forward to the next and while i build up, each is a pb too Am doing them first thing in the morning to burn off fat as part of a 2 month cutting phase. Once i'm up to 10k runs i'll probably do 2/3 a week depending on other sports i'm doing. Hoping to phase football back in as my ankle ligaments recover.
  13. Gyms FTW! :winkold: That was my first thought. May not be as good as outside but it would keep you ticking over Mike. I've just started running. Can do two hours of football fairly easily with the anaerobic nature of stop start sprinting but have never been a good runner and have always hated jogging for any length of time. The base level of fitness is there, it's getting used to the stamina of going for 30 mins+ consecutively that's difficult for me. Still the imprvements in only 2 weeks have been decent and i'm finding 30 minutes doable and the speed is creeping up too. Aiming for 10k runs in 60 mins which i hope isnt too bad?
  14. I think the half cast/mixed race thing is geographical. In Brum it seems to be used by all with no negative connotations at all, yet on the few occassions the term half cast has cropped up in conversation with people from down south they have been horrified. One occassion it was my boss who had been bullied within her community for being half cast or 'half breed' as they used to compare it to being the same status as a dog. That was a lovely comfortable afternoon at work for me.
  15. Following recommendations on here i watched Mesrine parts 1 & 2 on Sunday. Superb films, 4 and half hours flew by. I'd seen The Baader-Meinhoff complex a few weeks ago and glad i had as a few references to this were in this film and it wasnt something i previously knew much about.
  16. I'll disagree with you there Drat, it is a great photo.
  17. Really nice work Bicks. All great but the 3rd is my favourite for some reason. If you had it without the colour i wouldnt mind seeing that.
  18. 1 meal i'm having every day at the moment and is healthy is a large salad that i pick at over an hour or two at lunch. Large protion of lean meat, Chicken or Ham works well. Pineapple (from tin, in juice) Pear (from tin, in juice) slice of cheese spinach leaves (use lettuce if you prefer) + a dressing pepper tomatoes spring onion carrot Meant to have a hard boiled egg as well but i'm not a fan. Get the dressing right and thats a tasty healthy lunch. I'm currently using garlic and herb low fat or a garlic and chilli dipping oil.
  19. My vice I'd say, bread & pasta. I realise I eat too much of these things & I don't think they are doing me any favours. I'm not a sweet tooth, I don't eat sweets / chocolates / puddings etc. As long as you stock up on other foods and plan/prepare your meals in advance i think you'll be surprised how easy it is to do and how after only a week or 2 you really wont fancy it at all. In 9 months i've had about 6 subways, zero sandwiches bought or made myself, toast 4 times, pasta twice while eating out, whereas before i would live off these things. Honestly i cant recommend it enough and if you could maybe try counting the calories you take in from them you may realise that you wont need to actually diet once you've taken them out, removing these dead calories is a diet in itself. With the extra protein you take in you should never go hungry.
  20. I dont think that the goals per striker is that important, i think the total goals for all the strikers is the more significant stat. In that we are some way behind Chelsea, Man U, Man City, Spurs, West Ham, & Liverpool. There are 2 anomalies in that: West Ham and the fact Arsenal are not ahead of us. Arsenal can be explained away by the sheer quality of their midfield and the fact that Fabregas will probably have as many as any of our strikers this season. So considering that, i would say that it is noteworthy that only 1 team below us has more goals from strikers and that 5 of the 6 teams we are competing for top 4 with have got quite a few more, the other being Arsenal.
  21. Laura, I gave up bread, pasta and alot of potato last year and i have to say it's amazing how little i miss it, well as part of my regular diet anyway. It's a little tricky at first as this country is so reliant upon snack foods that are based around processed carbs. However, once you're used to some basic substitutions then it's quite easy to do and bits and pieces have now crept back into my diet in sensible ways, as part of a specific meal rather than being what i based meals around or if i really fancy something like a subway, which is rare as the negative effects of the bread usually put you off. Overall i probably eat about a 10th of the processed carbs that i used to. Nutritionally you get very little benefit from them and they are a massive calorie intake, they also bloat you alot. The odd pizza, subway or naan with a curry is pretty much my lot now. I'd seriously consider this, it will almost certainly help you lose weight and push you to eating more protein (feel fuller for longer on less) and veg/salad.
  22. I'm lying in bed with a cold trying to motivate myself to go to work. Can think of 100 reasons not to...but then I do need to get paid. UGH indeed Laura.
