  1. Assuming there was reasonable cost in bringing him back then i'd rather leave it. Thats on footballing grounds though rather than anything else. I like a very physical DM and Barry isnt it.
  2. Ooooooooo... Well Room for Romeo Brass is an absolutely superb Shane Meadows movie with an incredible performance from Paddy Considine. I think you will know my thoughts on Let the Right One In if you have read through this thread (favourite movie of the year so far). Haven't seen Sex Drive, let me know what you think as I don't mind the occasional crude comedy (ala Superbad). Ha ha, yeah i will do mate, it's nice to vary them up a bit and i try to get my lovefilm lists to send em out like that. But it's definitely been kind to me this week, 3 i'm looking forward to.
  3. Step Brothers was ok, pretty much what you'd expect. Taken was a bit over-rated for me. It's good, but would be a lot better without the 20 minutes of posteuring about Neeson's characters wise knowledge of the world being proven right by her being kidnapped within about 30 seconds of landing in Europe. Oh and Paris airport doesnt seem to have much in the way of police presence or security of any kind...in fact i'm not sure having seen this that the French have a police force of any kind, bar the odd corrupt intelligence fella. Currently have A Room for Romeo Brass, Sex Drive and Let the Right One In to watch this week.
  4. Good shout sir. Also enjoyed the wonderfully creepy A Tale of Two Sisters by the same director. I was unlucky enough to have the pleasure of watching the Hollywood remake. I guessed the entire plot within a few minutes and it really was poor. I'm led to believe the Korean one is much better....though it wont be the same watching it now. I cant even remember what the Hollywood one was called now.
  5. Now i've signed up to lovefilm again i've been catching up on films that i missed first time around for one reason or another... Tropic Thunder - 6/10 - Starts off funny and the concept of some of the characters is great but the script is piss poor and it just trails off. Dont mess with the Zohan - 7 - Erm, its a weird film with a lot of jokes that miss and a plot i think was meant to heal the rift between Israel and Palestine  But the jokes that do hit are hilarious...watching Zohan butterfly after a jetski had me crying. It's the movie that Bruno probably should have been. Juno - 9 - One of those slow paced subtle films that just leaves you feeling good about life. Very well acted, very real feel to the characters and a few things to think about. I also thought her dad was hilarious. The Orphanage - 9 - As per my post above...very creepy but a really intruiging story that is very well finished. Hancock - 8 - I really enjoyed this despite it getting bad reviews. I liked how the twist built up in it and imo it turned the film from something predictableand formulaic into something more interesting. Valid criticism stands over the lack of character development of the bad guys though. Currently have Taken, Step Brothers and La Haine to watch. God knows how i've missed La Haine til now, its been on my list for years.
  6. The Mist is interesting and with a good ending but is not the greatest film acting and story wise. The Orphanage was excellent, found it really really creepy and although the end isnt Hollywood it actually rounded the story off brilliantly.
  7. Top man, cheers Rob. It's not really my neck of the woods but i will probably swing by after work one night for a stock up.
  8. Agree with that. The Asian shop I go to sells a net of 4 large garlic bulbs for 45p, so I get them and a large piece of fresh ginger. Peel the ginger and chop it, and put it in a blender with 2 of the 4 garlic bulbs (that's about 20-25 cloves), make a puree and then freeze tablespoon size blobs of it. Then I use one blob of this garlic/ginger puree in each curry. I always add 4 or 5 extra cloves of garlic though. To say I pong a bit after a Ruby is an understatement :-) Thats a good tip... I bought fresh ginger the other day simply because i have never used it before and thought i probably should give it a go. I've just looked at it in my fridge every day since.... Which shop do you use? I used to pick stuff up in Aston but the shop i used shut now.
  9. Mate i had no doubt that bad boy is a real ring stinger! Incidentally i bought some fresh chillis the other day. Havent used them for years but dont reckon i'll go back to powder. They generate heat in your mouth rather than burn, much nicer and oddly addictive! As a fresh garlic fan, sorting out a slice of chilli is a doddle.
  10. Practically a Korma that! :winkold: Not a chilli in sight.
  11. People who take 2 weeks off with swine flu and then actually get swine flu may find themselves in an awkward spot with their employers. I'm self employed, but wouldnt do it anyway.
  12. Fortunately another **** has spared my blushes!
  13. Fucksticks...i think i just hit cake by accident...i was so puzzled as to how anyone could think it was cake that it was reverbarating round the space where my brain should be. But it's definitely chocolates made.
  14. I'm really impressed with the 3.0 software upgrade as it gets rid of alot of little niggles. I've not heard anything impressive about the new iphone though, the only reason i would upgrade is that i only have 8GB and would be tempted by the storage capacity. But that really isnt worth that much extra money, so the price would have had to come down a fair bit before April '10. I also used to love chaning phone every 12 months, now it's 18 and now they're looking at 2 years...i'm not sure about that as wear, tear and battery life will probably take their toll.
  15. To be honest i'm unsure how it being your job makes any difference from the fact it's the best phone i've ever picked up and used. Dont get me wrong, if you've used it and it wasn't for you then that's fine. It wont be for everybody. I just dont get why you're trying to tell people that they are falling for some big marketing campaign for a product that isn't any good. It's a slightly patronising view to be blunt. You're right that it's expenisive, but with so many people feeling it's the best phone out there, i suppose it is consistent with that. I've always been a camerphone person myself, so never thought i'd get one. When i picked it up and used it though, it convinced me straight away to buy a Casio Exilim and get an iphone too. The only thing i wonder is whether the iphone will ultimately kill the ipod, particularly as the capacity increases.
  16. Yes but historically teams did not have the kind of squads that we, and particularly you, now enjoy.
  17. It's difficult to judge when they probably have to do the biggest overhaul to a squad that anyone has done before. This could go very well, it could go very badly. If i had to stick my neck out i'd say they'll come back up. It is prehaps an ideal situation for someone like Shearer to come into. He's been destined to manage that club and will be able to sweep the board clean, take the power from Ashley (who desperately needs him for popularity) and do things his way. The club will attract good players. Shearer will attract good players.
  18. Agree with all of that Rev, especially this last paragraph. I think Owen Hargreaves will be replaced this summer, regardless of the fact he is still at the club and unlikely to be sold given his ongoing injury worries. It will be their big summer buy (unless they have to replace Ronaldo).
  19. Yeah i think you've come up with the answer yourself there. A fit Owen Hargreaves is definitely missing from that team and particularly when you want to win the ball back off 2 of the best in possession in the world. You simply have to have a Hargreaves, Essien, Reo-Coker type player who can go and get it back to avoid constantly chasing shadows. I think Ferguson looked at their midfield and decided with Giggs he could add some class of his own in there along with Carrick and Anderson who are both good players at keeping the ball moving, but on reflection it was a mistake. They were missing some power and aggression and Carrick had an off day which didnt help. But tweaking Man U's midfieldto give them a chance in a one off game is probably irrelevant as Barca would still be the best side in Europe and the most deserving winners. I will wear my lucky Barca wristband to footy tonight i think.
  20. The opening 10 minutes showed how dangerous United were and had something fallen for them they could have been the dominant team. But the game was decided by 2 things in the end. The first was 2 very classy goals from Barca. The second was the inability of the Man U midfield to press the game. Barca were the best team in Europe last season so i'm glad they won it. The style of the goals and the manner in which they dictated posession once they were ahead was not surprising. What was surprising though was how little urgency and desire Man U showed, it didnt feel like a final at all. I do wonder whether having won it last year already took the edge from a few players.
  21. Grant(aka_eddy)

    JB

Bourne but only because he's a freak. He underwent all the mentalistic training and re-programming and stuff...made him superhuman so it's not really a fair fight. Though Bond would distract him with Bauer and shag his German missus (pre-death) before escaping on a gondola riding the resulting wave of the explosion he used to take out Al-Queda, The Taleban and the imposter JB's as a cheeky side bonus.
  22. edit: Christ my memory must be going...i'd already posted in the thread... :? Incidentally, Iniesta has always reminded me of Eugene Victor Tooms from the x-files, which may explain his uncanny ability to find gaps in defences...
  23. Hopefully Man U's style will allow it to be a better game than vs Chelsea. I want Barcelona to take it as they have been the best (arguably) and definitely the most entertaining team this season. As a neutral they're very likeable. I wouldn't begrudge Man U taking it though and i suspect they may be the more complete team.
  24. You are though assuming that i am basing my opinion on the media perception and that of a few fans on TV. An assumption on your part that is way wide of the mark. It includes those i've met in real life and those occassions i've ventured onto Newcastle forums (though the internet can be a strage place). My primary source is defintely real life, t'internet opinions second and the media third. You may just have to accept that as far as fans go you are a bit of an exception in having this humility, certainly in my experience. Though even in a post you claim we shouldnt listen to the media myth, you still reference high attendances and have a pop at us booing. I actually dont think the Newcastle fans booing was referenced that heavily, if anything it was played down. Those few Villa fans who chose to boo were labelled a disgrace by most and this was arguably a bigger deal in the media. Anyway, the arguments are moot points really. Hull, Boro and Sunderland fans could no doubt come on here and make an equally valid argument about how decent they are. We need to beat you on Sunday for our own purposes and any favours would be against the spirit of things. Good luck to you whatever happens.
