  1. Hurrah....a poll! Ok so I have my own ideas as to what i'd issue i'd address first and we all know the list that Mr O'Leary recites each week. I suspect that in times like these we will have a very varied response. Question above...
  2. Yes because on form he would provide many options for the team. He isnt a first choice winger for a major footballing european nation but he is the closest thing Englnad have had for several years. Downing may or may not change this. For me though he would've been in the squad for versatility alone and pushing for a first team place on the left side. He may not be the perfect solution but he would be better than most of the toss played over the last few years.
  3. shhhh, this poll was so rubbish i was hoping it would slip off the end of the page. let's let it die gracefully please
  4. Since the election campaign began who has been swayed to vote for, or been put of voting for a particular party? I suspect that very few people change their minds during this time so is the campaigning really worth it? P.s.It is only if you've changed your mind in the last 4 weeks or so, not since the last time you voted.
  5. Southampton as i'm pleased for Crouch that he's doing well and wouldn't like to see him drop to the first division again and also since I can remember some decent games against them. Nearly voted Baggies because of the derby but if we want to buy Gera then they can bugger off.
  6. Went for Laursen. Since I think he's a better player than Davis, he is the best newcomer. However, Davis has probably contributed more (as Laursen was injured) and has been a real bonus since his promotion came from nowhere.
  7. Wholeheartedly agree with all the above comments and think Vass will be back in the squad very quickly, he certainly doesn't seem to have any issues with sharpness or fitness. I love his Engalnd appearences as he generally has such an impact for them. If Taylor hadn't stopped him scoring at Newcastle then we'd probably all be talking about how he's going on a scoring run until the end of the season too.
  8. Out of those i'd go for Forsell at the moment. He'd probably be the best value for money. Smith and Yakubu also interest me but wouldnt touch any of the others (no jokes please!).
  9. Absolutely not, but if he was as talented as Ronaldinho then probably yes. I'm guessing that was the aim of the question..... would you put aside you dislike for a player if they were good enough for the club. Although the racism tag would always trouble me and if it were proved true i'd want him gone.
  10. I'll cheer the end of his reign at Villa Park but if anyone wants to cheer in that minute then i suggest they join the chavs at the back. He was a prize clearing in the woods IMO but lets keep perspective, in no way does football come close to the importance of life and death. If it does for you then I would suggest you haven't really lived. If you want to cheer the death of someones grandfather during a minutes silence then i doubt your personal reasons will be all that obvious, you will just join the majority of morons who just dont give a **** and will cheer because they think it's clever.
  11. Despite what many think, he isnt actually evil (disclaimer: to the best of my knowledge). I'll just stay quiet and munch on a pie whilst watching the pretty bunnies dance inside my head. it's a mushroom pie...
  12. I hated them at first and thought they looked like the 'sharp bend' road signs but they've really grown on me. Dont suit the long sleeve but it is quite an original feature which stands out.
  13. generally i like top right but that yellow trim HAS to go! dont like V-necks all that much and much prefer a collar if i'm gonna buy it.
  14. I think Tommy S is our best keeper. Stefan is on the transfer list so unless it's of benefit to Tommy's confidence etc then leave him unless we need him. Henderson - too inexperienced to play unless we absolutely have too. incorportae him gradually in easy cup ties etc and see how he copes with that.
  15. i despise the transfer window system! 1) it makes life for much of the season very dull 2) it reduces fan pressure to buy, as they only have to take flack for 1 month and can use the window as an excuse for not getting anyone 3) it gives added power to the big clubs who can enforce a lower price on a club who need to sell before the deadline. 4) clubs cannot adjust to injury crisis etc. 5) i'm sure i had a fifth......maybe not.
  16. . well i wish you had of done in the first place then! you seem to have shifted to only talking about match days now, and fair enough you may have meant that all along but it certainly wasn't clear. glad you acknowledge that issues with the club are important to fans as well as issues with the team. i've heard many people uphold the opinion that match day protests are innapropriate and they have been both pro and anti Ellis. I think that it needs to be very clear exactly what the protest is about and even then it's still risky. The £ sign one was extremely effective whereas last years VFC one didn't seem to have as much impact although it gained alot of publicity. i suppose we'll never really know what effect it has on players. but i wish everyone would just stop this 'true/real fans' crap.
  17. Not really. 110% is the accepted expression (particularly in sports) for giving that bit extra than the norm. you on the other hand just weren't making much sense. you've either missed the point or arent able to respond. is supporting the team 100% of supporting villa as you originally stated, or not? do you deny the team and club are inextricably interlinked? i have no problem if people dont want to protest against Ellis, for whatever their reason. As i dont believe it has a bearing on how good a supporter you are. . . as long as you give 110% ( ) on the day.
  18. so is it 100% or not? you cant have 100% and other things as secondary as they would form part of the 100%! did you mean it's a seperate entity altogether? if so i think most would acknowledge that the club and team are inextricably interlinked which somewhat ***** all over your argument.
  19. King Olof for me. If he sees out the peak of his career with us he'll be a legend. Juan is close behind as our primary goalscorer but the period under GT probably means he'll never play for long enough at his best to earn the same status. i hope 4 seasons of 20+ league goals will change my mind though.
  20. i've gotta say that i cant describe my feeling for Ellis as hate. i'd compare him to David Brent, for some reason i pity him too much to actually smash his face in. Those on here who know me will also know that i have always been very much anti-Ellis though. people i hate in football (in no order).... Howard Wilkinson (for being so f'ing boring!), David Pleat (mind numbingly shit commentating), Craig Bellamy, Dennis Wise, Trevor Francis (well spotted ronk-villa), Darren Purse, Danny Mills and pretty much anybody who dives consistently as it's a pet hate of mine. but for me Savage is way beyond this.....i despise everything about him and resent the fact he's rich and gets away with so much. He also loves the fact that people slag him off just cos it means we're acknowledging his existence and influence on us. The guy makes me feel violently angry and i dont think anybody else in football does that.
  21. neither for me. dont know enough about yakubu but both seem very good players. problem is i'd rather we got a midfielder anyway.
