  1. Alright bud. 3 things on this; 1) I didn't knock your attendances and i did acknowledge the large fan base etc. 2) A relegation fight is as exciting in it's own right as challenging for success and will draw in supporters who want to witness the escape and indeed help if they can. Try mid-table obscurity for a few seasons combined with boring football, that can be a real killer to fans motivation to pay up and turn up. 3) Your fans have shown an awful lot of discontent over the last two seasons. Some empty seats has been part of it but there has also been booing the team and so on. Now i'm not knocking this, just highlighting it as why you are not above other fans.
  2. Stan has certainly benefitted from younger members conforming to a viewpoint that is fashionable. One poster aside, i cant see any justification for that argument.
  3. I know i shouldnt laugh but that cracked me up! It's nice that this situation has created a bit of humility and that Newcastle fans are declaring that they are just ordinary fans like us... However, i don't recall ever hearing this before, this is literally the first instance i've ever encountered. It's very refreshing because all i've ever known before is them (you! sorry, i dont really know who i'm addressing on this point!) embracing the media myth that they are some kind of superior breed of fan. Best fans in the country, best ground in the country, best atmosphere etc etc etc repeat to absolute mind-numbing boredom. They do have a big ground and they have a big fanbase who have shown up during exciting times to give exciting support. But as would most other sets of supporters in the same circumstances, as times have got harder, the support has shown its discontent in the same way other fans would. It's because of the constant pretence, admittedly perpetuated on your behalf by the media, that you are so superior that i've been desperate for you to go down. I also fancy us to get at least one of your players and as others have touched on, it's an exciting event a big club like yours going down. Sorry, but it is and I think many other fans would feel like that if it were Villa going down. Other than that myth which you have previously embraced so readily i quite like Newcastle, very entertaining in the mid-90's with a gung ho style of football that i really wanted to succeed. Times change though and I doubt you'll agree with me but a spell in the Championship could do you good. It may cement that humility and it may allow for the clearout you desperately need. You'll have no trouble attracting players at that level with your reputation and you may get some who actually take some pride in the shirt. So I suppose it's a sorry, you may escape relegation but i really dont want you to. Though don't take too much offence, i'd put money on you coming back up a better club.
  4. It sounds good but alot of improvements over the minor irritations will be made with OS 3.0 which is out in June i think. Particularly looking forward to texting in landscape....especially after a few shandys. If they release a new iphone i'm not sure the changes outlined will make that much difference. They sound more like tweaks then anything headline grabbing. I suppose they dont need to do much as it is already excellent....if they could improve the photos and include a flash then i think that would be the easiest way of grabbing more of the market. Increasing both the capacity and the batter life are very welcome though.
  5. Haha, post of the day that one. Useful site actually...i tip my hat to thee.
  6. That makes no sense when you specifically asked for a single example. That made my night, cheers fella. If you read my posts you'd see that is pretty much what i'd said as well. Though I dont know what i'm talking about...so if i'm wrong, as you kindly pointed out, and i agreed with you then surely that make you wrong too... So the only conclusion I can come to is that Barry must be brilliant at tackling.
  7. Well you did ask... What was the point of asking for an example of a single tackle if you were just going to give that kind of response? As Barry is playing as a midfielder in the Premier League it probably means that fans will be able to give you far more than a single example, probably scores of examples so i think you're setting yourself up for a fall in going down that route. I agree Petrov is the better tackler and i think Reo-Coker is a step up from this, a significant one too. He is probably amongst the very best in the league at going and winning the ball from the opposition. Barry is classiest in his simple mopping up and distribution, he's at his best when the stars are performing and he does the simple things well and gives them the easy passes and possession they want. Which is why he looks good for England, he's far from being the star of the show and just keeps things ticking over.
  8. I think the answer is in the partnerships. I think that Reo-Coker & Petrov offers more than any other combination. In a 4-4-2 that is. Barry is probably the best player out of the 3, but isn't quite athletic enough to be the holding player or the box to box player. He doesnt score enough from open play or play enough killer balls to be an out and out attacking player. As a player Barry really confuses me, I honestly am stumped as to how to get the very best from him. Very good in several positions but specialist in none. I dont want rid at all, but i also dream of a replacement without this headache.
  9. A vengeful Chrissmith921 was pretty sure one of them had to be Laura and was prepared to piss on all of them if he had to
  10. Perhaps it would only take Dani Behr and a polar bear. The polar bear would set her up as a honey trap and the T-rex would undoubtedly fall in love with her and they'd start a highly publicised relationship. Her inevitable infidelity with a Premiership footballer would lead to the T-Rex ripiing her to pieces before taking his own life by throwing himself onto the upraised claw of the polar bear.
  11. This is true. And I have evidence - bottom right picture: Ah but thats not a pipe, that's a semi un-furled black liquorice curl... Bears love liquorice.
  12. I've also heard that bears have beautiful voices and can bring a t-rex to tears with a melancholy rendition of unchained melody. Should 4 or more bears perform this song as a quartet, they are sure to put the t-rex in a suicidal state where he will bite off his own arms and legs and lie down to die. (At this point lying down isnt optional anyway)
  13. I found this similar thread and am a bit worried that the T-Rex has skin tougher than an elephants and is 1-2 inches thick. This new info throws my whole belly based bear attack formation in doubt. I think i may have inadvertently sent 4 bears to their doom.
  14. Only 4 i reckon. The problem with the T Rex is that it has those rubbish little spazzy arms that are next to useless. Its main weapn is the mouth which is excellent at munching up individual victims. but bobbins when it would come to a group. Bears also have a trump card in that they are very hairy and may make for an unpleasant snack. 4 of them working together could attack and go for the belly and then the throat. One or two would undoubetdly get munched but those spazzy t-rex arms couldnt prevent bears from slicing it up good and proper whilst the mouth is distracted by a fuzzy treat.
  15. 24 is a bit like Bond...a really good watch at its best but always a bit too far-fetched to be taken too seriously. Whereas Battlestar Gallactica is just great sci-fi, done well and importantly closed off well.
  16. Battlestar Gallactica for me. Lost should have won but it suffered horrendously by being a genius original storyline, stretched out over extra series to cash in. The whole concept of that cliffhanger suspense can only be maintained over a couple of series, it gets tiresome after more than that, as does the constant twists and turns in the storyline. A lesson that should have been learned with the X-Files. I'm really enjoying Dexter at the moment too. Great background story and concept, interesting stories and characters and a heavy dose of humour. It's different but works well.
  17. I heard a static hiss, thats all. Very quiet too. Meh
  18. Cheers....will check it out. Cant get flash on my laptop due to restrictions so i'm guessing that was the problem...
  19. Thats just a link to the store Rev....care to enlighten us?
  20. I think this sums up how I feel at the moment. Great player, and one of the best at Villa, but things have gone a bit stale, and a move would probably be best for both parties. Ditto. It's a nice summary. He is a great player who is most effective against lesser teams when he can quietly and effectively hold the ball in midfield and pull the strings. He has great ability in shielding the ball and linking players in. If he didn't want to go then i'd be delighted if he stayed. But i'd change his role and importance i think, he is a player who can let others shine and not be the star himself. Sadly if it's Liverpool he goes to I think it could backfire on him. I'm not sure that quietly effective will be appreciated there. I think he could end up back on the left side and I think the issue over his lack of pace will crop up again. In effect he will go backwards 3/4 years in his own development. We'll at least have the opportunity to shake things up and get someone without the physical limitations.
  21. I like the taste but far far too sweet. I see a pic of a diet cherry vanilla version a few pages back, would love to try that but never even seen a regular diet Dr Pepper. Mountain Dew was lovely, most people liked it so no idea why it was discontinued here. I also remember Tab Clear which was ace. Use to pop down to Viccy Wines as a kid and grab a bar of galaxy and a Tab Clear or mountain dew.
  22. Nice one Rev, this just took over from Bejewelled as my new default time-waster! And Stevo i know what you mean about the iphone on trips like that. I've had to go to a few places through work and have managed to find hotels, restaurants, general directions etc really easily and quickly. While everyone else stood there squabbling about how to find a decent restaurant etc i just did a 5 second search, clicked the link to phone the restaurant and book a table and then clicked the link for directions. As i phoned and booked everyone shut up and stared and as i hung up i just asked who wanted to drive. Man-Phone FTW!
  23. No chance. Really? None at all? I could understand if you slightly favoured Mayweather but it is a fight that could feasibly go either way. For example bookies will probably come down in slight favour of a favourite, but it doesnt mean they'll be giving the other guy no chance, the odds will be close. At this moment in time i would favouor Pacquiao myself. But only just. Floyd is bigger than anyone he's faced. Floyd is better than anyone he's faced. Pac throws wild punches coming forward which Floyd will counter and eventually stop him late on. I think Floyd will have to put in a very good performance to win & it'll be tough, but I don't see Pac winning. Fair enough, i think alot of people will agree with that. I can see it happening but i can also see Manny's speed and power overbearing him at some point, a point which will be pivotal in dertermining the rest of the fight. I think the whole of the boxing world wants to see this one played out now.
