  1. When the guys at CERN finally find the Higgs Boson particle, it'll have a picture of James Milners face on it.
  2. Not seen too many lately but Watchmen was very good for the first two thirds but i was really disappointed with how it ended, just got weaker and weaker. The Baader Meinhoff Complex is superb though. German film that follows a left wing political activism group as they evolve into terrorists and constanstly prompts you to reassess your morals against the backdrop of a decent cause vs extreme actions. Very well acted, great use of real news footage interspersed into the film and some really interesting relationships alongside the main plot. Only downsides were that it is very long and the subtitles are ridiculously small, stupid error on behalf of the studio that nearly makes it unwatchable.
  3. As he has been largely overlooked i thought i'd throw in that while Ash's general play hasnt been as good he is still consistently hurting the opposition and keeping us ticking over with goals, recently adding a few himself. That said it's Milner for me, he was brilliant out wide but his move into the middle is something that could trasform us into top 4 material. Collins and Dunne have been a revelation, Carlos has stepped up to expectations and Warnock has completed an excellent defence and shown what a good full back can do to expose teams with proper overlapping runs. Gabby has improved yet again and sometimes looks unplayable like Henry and Drogba always do. Lets hope he can keep improving to those levels.
  4. I have heard some really good reveiws on this. Really good. Is it in English though, or is it subtitled? shouldn't put me off, but it does, if it's foreign language. It's Swedish and subtitled. Seriously though, don't let that put you off. There is an atrocious American dub of it and another version with butchered, simplified subtitles but neither are available in the UK. Those alterations were crowbarred in for the moron sector of the US audience - pissing off Tomas Alfredson in the process. To add further insult, Hollywood is unnecessarily remaking it to cash in, re-writing the story so it's set in America - pissing off Tomas Alfredson in the process. The fact it's foreign enhances it for me. I like subtitled stuff anyway as you get drawn into the film but as it is fairytale like, the foreign land aspect adds to that. It's slow and wont be the most enjoyable film but it's a really superb piece of film making. I recommend giving it 2 watches though as you really do appreciate how well shot it is in the second. Plus you will spend the 2nd really looking forward to the swimming pool scene! Sie...your avatar is awesome.
  5. I'm with The Rev and Let the Right One In. A really enchanting film that one, very well shot, great acting and some memorable scenes. Star Trek and Inglorious Basterds were great fun though. Still have to see Up! and District 9 and looking forward to both.
  6. I've sat here for 5 minutes trying to decide and i honestly cant answer. Lib Dems is my default option at the moment to force a change from Labour and let them know that wasnt good enough. There's no way i'm voting in Cameron but there could've been alot of benefit to the Conservatives if it wasnt for him. I dont believe in the political spectrum anymore but my beliefs tend to be either very liberal or very conservative on the old scale. But of the current lot i dont feel any represent my views. I feel comletely disillusioned with the process and the people and have no connection with politics, which is a shame as it could be an area of interest for me. And i still dont think the BNP should be legally allowed to exist as a party, let alone consider a vote for them.
  7. spot on. Been a long time since I watched them both and on reflection I don't think anyone needs to bother with flags of our fathers unless they want to compare and contrast the iwo Jima experience. The central story for flags of our fathers just isn't that interesting after 20 minutes or so.
  8. Best be the directors cut mate lol, errr......
  9. This weekend i'll mostly be watching Lust, Cation Watchmen & The Baader Meinhof Complex
  10. I'm on a low carb high protein 'diet' too and probably have a few meals that would be useful to you. I put diet in brackets as really it isnt a diet in the must lose weight sense but a change of habit in stuffing in all the unnecessary carbs, mainly in the form of bread. Havent given it up completely but probably eat about 10% of what i used to and weight falls of you. Anyway... Steak, fat trimmed off....once cooked add in to the juices half tomatoes, handful of spinach and pretty much any other veg/seasoning you want to and heat it all up and serve up the steak on top of this. Chicken breat salad....roast the chicken and allow to cool 1-2 medium chicken breasts should give you 30-60g protein. Bulk out your salad with fruit....lettuce, tomato, peppper, onion, boiled egg, grated carrot, pineapple and pear. Had this in Gran Canaria recently and loved it. Add you favourite sauce to the chicken. Low fat mozzarella, pear (tin, in juice) and tomato salad. Simply chop and mix together with a drizzle of olive oil and salt and pepper to taste. The mozzarella gives around 20 grams of protein. Curry with whatever meat you fancy (drain fat off keema) or quorn is ok too...grab a mix jar or follow a recipe on here...add in lots of onion, pepper, fresh chilli, garlic and maybe ginger. Chuck in spinach right near the end. Eat on it's own or with poppadoms rather than nan & rice. Just discoverd Tesco own brand meat free lincolnshire sausages (frozen section) and these are genius. Massive 10g of protein per sausage and unlike every other one out there they actually taste good. In a pasta dish or sandwich you actually would be struggling to tell the difference. You can use them with anything low carb though as a protein boost. Get a bag of mixed root veg (carrots, parsnips, onion, swede/turnip), clean, chop and lightly coat in olive oil. Add a drizzle of honey, mixed herbs and mix together. Roast for 45 minutes on about 200 degrees or until soft. I also add garlic cloves and season with pepper but that's possibly one to play with. Serve with any lean meat. Tacos and fajitas arent bad either if you keep the meat lean and plentiful and top up with lots of fresh salad/salsa. Use one of the kits as a base and adjust accordingly. That's all i can think of for now and I know that isnt the greatest list of instructions but i'm assuming you can cook and can make the basic ideas into something. Hope it helps.
  11. Speaking of Darren Aronofsky i saw The Wrestler the other day, that's up there with Million Dollar Baby in bleakness! Though Million Dollar Baby is the better film imo. The Fountain is pretty good too, if a bit of a mind ****. But i definitely wouldnt have the guy over for a dinner party, he'd probably bring razor blades.
  12. Just ask a mod to post them, all pm's are recorded anyway.
  13. Bouma should win this by a landslide.
  14. I went for Olly on the presumption Laursen would win. Those two were great players for us and a fantastic partnership the few times they played together.
  15. Young for me is the better player so i've gone for him. I was a big fan of Delaney though, as a defender he was great and his tackling was superb. One his best games for us was keeping an on form Ryan Giggs completely out of the game at Villa Park. He was however fairly useless going forward and it was comical how he would frequently just overrun the ball straight out of play for a throw in or goal kick. Since Mellberg played a full season there he could actually be considered and he would be right up there for me.
  16. Not amazing but very good. I think we are a very good ST/FW short of it being an excellent window. But that said we look alot stronger in terms of stregth in depth than last season with + 3 defenders and + 2 midfielders (including Albrighton and Clark who imo are worthy of inclusion). Losing Barry will help us re-shape midfield for the better and Delph, Downing & Albrighton bring alot to the table. At the back we wont be shifting players around. 5 centre backs, 2 right backs and 3 left backs....happy days. The Laursen replacement maybe isnt there, depends on who you listen to regarding Dunne, but overall that defence looks alot more capable of going through a long season. And Reo-Coker is back in central midfield. Oh yes
  17. As said, the General has no say in football matters and to be honest neither should fans. I'm not a fan of Heskey either but to actually believe fans should pick the team is ridiculous.

    Top Gear

Is it still on? I thought the series ended a few weeks back. This last series was poor though. Not sure i agree it's time to call it a day as it should in theory be able to carry on in some format whilst there is still an interest in cars. A major overhaul is needed though. I would recommend a bit of a general facelift, getting rid of the car challenges and with it, alot of the over scripted skits that had become cringeworthy. It needs to go a little bit back to basics i think and less about those three trying to be funny constantly. Not that they're not capable as the dynamics are great, but 60 minutes of scripted wit is too much for three guys who are far from comedians. I'd be tempted to let May take over more of the main presenting and get Clarkson back doing his best work on reviews. It can definitely come back strong again though.
  19. It's a difficult one as there are three issues. The first being a discussion around the principles of releasing on compassionate grounds, the second and third being the particularly convoluted circumstances of this case of both the mans guilt and world politics. It's really hard to know who to listen to on this one. All kinds of alarm bells are going off around the motives behind the release and the welcome he had back home, if he is guilty, is sickening. Was that a celebration of his alleged actions or a welcome for a man they believe was innocent? Anyhow, he should not have been released on compassionate grounds, if there is an issue with his case that needs to be reviewed through the justice system then it should have been done so. This is a back door kind of route that has caused alot of hurt to those who needed justice after the horrific event. You cannot say he is still guilty but then go on to release him. Either justice has been done and he is jailed or justice has not been done yet and he is released. I feel very sorry for the families involved, the whole situation must have invoked alot of anger.
  20. Assuming Young and Carew are still unavailable.. --------------Guzan----------------- Beye - Cuellar - Davies - Shorey ----Reo-Coker - Petrov------------ Albrighton----Milner--------Young --------------Gabby-----------------
  21. Stay. I also have to say that the timing of this poll after a really bad morale sapping defeat and while we still have transfers to make is a little like weighing yourself after an all you can eat buffet. Early September may be a truer reflection of opinion
  22. I think we need Distin right now but Wheater would be a solid buy and potentially could be a Laursen replacement in years to come.
  23. Did enough of us rag your maths or should some more folks have a go? With 2 weeks to go before the window closes and on even numbers, i think it is safe to assume we will end up on positive numbers. I also dont think i agree with the 4. I would include Albrighton as i think he will step up and make the grade. Clark possibly will too, we may only know how O'Neill feels about that depending on whether he buys 1 or 2 centre backs....but whether it's a 2nd purchase or Clark, its another number. Bannan is also in with an outside shout but i'll leave him for now as i think he may end up steping up to replace Gardner if he leaves. Out: Knight, Laursen, Barry, Taylor In: Marshall, Delph, Downing, Beye, Albrighton, Clark (or 2nd CB purchased) Sub Total = + 2 Likely: 1 x CD, 1 x AM. Total = +4
  24. Although i get your point, technically that would equal 4! Fact! :winkold:
  25. I went for optimistic but probably lie somewhere between this and neutral. (though the description in neutral is imo something to be fairly pleased about). We need another couple in i think. A central defender is a must we all know that, maybe 2. Then there is the option to add in a flair player of some sort. I would like a real goalscorer too but i cant see that one happening. But i'm confident these players will come in and be added to Delph, Downing, Beye, Albrighton & Clark. I have a really good feeling about this season.
