  1. Personally thought your meaning was quite clear, and I totally agree. He's garbage, and so is Hangeland. At least Hangeland used to be good. Senderos has never been good enough in the Prem. We won't sell him for a fee, and he won't improve the first team. Garbage. You don't get 84 appearances and a contract extension for Arsenal by being garbage. Clark and Baker on current showing would never play for a top 4 team. Senderos will simply be back-up to Vlaar and Okore. Bendtner?
  2. We had to pay Brett Holman to leave after signing him on a free. So I guess the answer would be yes? So his value when he left was zero, his contract doesn't factor in his value. I didn't say you couldn't lose money on a Bosman or that they don't cost anything, but you can't sign a player on a Bosman and then say his value has dropped. You can, donkeys like that always need paying off.
  3. I'm not sure being in the bottom 3 with a newly promoted side is exactly a failure. As for Ipswich, I thought he finished 15th... Anyway... its all fairly irrelevant given that he isn't being appointed as our manager. There are plenty of people who have been very successful as number 2's and total failures as managers when trying to go it alone. I will judge Keane as an assistant manager on his time here rather than the time he has previously spent in an entirely different role. I think when Keane left Ipswich they were 19th. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Keane Like I said, there are countless examples of amazing assistants being crap managers and vice versa. Obviously you need some skills in both jobs. But the point is being bad at one job doesn't mean you'll be bad at the other. So citing Keane's managerial record as evidence that he'll be a crap assistant doesn't make much sense, especially as it's not even that bad. Which is a fair point to make but its also more than a fair to suggest that as there are similarities between both jobs you can at least form an opinion on ability to motivate which is a common denominator for both jobs and due to Keane's temperament including walking out on Ireland i'm not sure we should gamble on that sort of destabilisation. My main worry is that if we don't get a new owner before the summer window closes then we are in for another relegation struggle and I wonder how Keane would react under that pressure? Your definition of bad also differs from mine so really there's no common ground for further debate on this so i'm going to pull the shutters down and leave it. He seemed fine at motivating Sunderland when they were winning the Championship. He's had 2 jobs. One he did fine in, one he didn't. It's hardly disastrous for a manager in his first ever jobs. There's no more sense in assuming he'll be crap at motivating because he didn't do well at Ipswich than there is in me saying he'll be great at motivating because he did well at Sunderland. It's selective whichever way you look at it. He didn't walk out on Ireland. They sent him home. I wouldn't say he did a fine job at Sunderland. He spent a phenomenal amount of money.
  4. Amen to that. How he has made a career out of Broadcasting and Sports Journalism is beyond me. The bloke can't string a coherent sentence together. Not more amazing than how he made a career out of football tbf.
  5. Certainly worked for Alex Mcleish!
  6. I don't think he does though. He just gauges the popular opinion amongst the host, pundits, crowd, whatever and then says the opposite. He is mentally unbalanced.
  7. It was Alfe's other knee that ended his career. that and the fact he was an utter dross footballer.
  8. in the short term I think it would be good for clowns like Baker, Weimann, Clark, Lowton etc to have a boot put up them. In the long term it will only end in tears. Personalities like Keane's will only ever have a short term impact, over time you become immune to ranters and ravers and gradually just tune them out ( a bit like I did with my ex). Pretty soon you just end up witha abunch of unhappy, disillusioned players devoid of any confidence or happiness.
  9. He can be assistant at VIlla, Stay on with Ireland and still work for ITV. He didnt want the Celtic job as he didnt want to take a pay cut I am pretty sure that was tongue in cheek.
  10. Well giving Lambert £25m is not a guarantee of staying up. He's had £40m over the past 2 seasons and only just kept us up? Better off sacking Lambert and bringing in proper manager! And which "proper" managers would want to come here with all the uncertainty over the ownership? One's better than Lambert? Plenty! But when the takeover get's sorted any sane new owner will make their first job sacking Lambert! The man embodies all that is wrong about the Lerner years! Any names?
  11. Both utterly horrible players. Would rather chuck in an U-14 player that sign these clowns.
  12. This is Villa Talk so what do you expect. The reaction would probably be the same if we were getting Messi on a free. No, it wouldn't.
  13. One of the worst centre backs I have ever seen. The fact he may be slightly better than Baker is a moot point.
  14. Paying off another manager and bringing in another manager with other ideas to embark an another rebuilding job is not the answer IMO. Unless we get a takeover, and money to spend, and then by all means sack him!
  15. I am pretty sure Jack Colback has never played right midfield in his life. LB,LM and CM.
  16. Nah, he is awful. Almost certainly better than Baker but still awful all the same. We need to improve on certain players significantly. So no to Ridgewell, no to Collison, no to Colback and no to any other average english guff.
  17. United won't be calling, he is not united quality. Why not invest £25m? There comes a time when you have to cut your losses and cut your cloth accordingly, you can't keep saying "invest another £25m, just another £25m...."
  18. Why would he do that? He's not investing anything more himself, if we're not bought out, we'll probably go down next season and he'll be losing Delph/Vlaar/Agbag for nothing next summer. Why not take £5/6m now? Of course, Lerner is looking to sell a PL club for hundreds of millions of pounds, what better way to ensure our status in the PL and market value, that sell one of our most important players and captain for a few million? Vlaar will be going nowhere.
  19. well Moyes didn't seem to know how to deal with him or how to play him and kept loaning him out Nothing to do with him breaking his leg just when he was breaking through and struggling to get back to where he was then?
  20. Not really, it doesn't state how many tackles he has made, just the success rate of those he did.
  21. Kyle Walker is a way more rounded footballer than Bacuna. Walker has his deficiencies as a defender but to compare him to Bacuna is laughable. Just bumping this for you rodders, your hawkeye scouting eyes seem to have missed it on the other page. Surely such a poor defender shouldn't have this stat next to them? Good stat to have but misleading, most the time he is not even in a position to get a tackle in at RB. He has no sense of positional play or awareness what so ever to play that role.
  22. This...but also : 2 fullbacks that can defend. 1 CB who can defend. 2 Midfielders who can tackle, get about the pitch and have composure on the ball. 1 Midfielder who can create, pass over 5 yards and bag a goal. Two wingers/forwards who can score and create a goal. We only need 8 players.
  23. Do you have any idea the kind of mental and physical effort a sportsman has to go through to come back from injuries, yet alone cruciates? Must be nice to sit on your fat arse and have no idea. ,
  24. Kyle Walker is a way more rounded footballer than Bacuna. Walker has his deficiencies as a defender but to compare him to Bacuna is laughable.
  25. I am going to guess that he won't get called up because he is a poor footballer playing in an awful team, he doesn't have a position nailed down, his touch, passing and ability in the centre of midfield are atrocious, his defensive capabilities, his awareness and his intelligence playing at right back are laughable. I wouldn't trust him in any system. There are dozens of Bacuna's playing in the Eredivisie. Ten a penny athletic footballers with no football brain. He is awful and a few goals doesn't not change that.
