  1. But that is just your speculation. you rightly say If.....and then proceed to elaborate further on that assumption. strange and opportunism.
  2. Perhaps he was already aware....but that is not the point, the point was Peter Withe noticed it....so its just speculative. so if, is your operative word.
  3. You are always going to get that......the trick to getting promotion is to form a team. not a bunch of individuals.
  4. do you mean the same SB that tactically out smarted Chris Hughton to deny him the league title.....Oh I know who you mean
  5. I understand your point GH, but there are very few low pressure jobs, such is the financial rewards at stake.....they are all mainly " no margin for error" and very few jobs come up, unless there is a crisis of some sort. We have been on that carousel, much too often....I know its hackneyed for us.....but we need stability for a while. Equally, there are also very few managerial jobs that are not in doubt, such is the nature of the beast.
  6. I would think many factors come in to play to make him think twice. However, If every time we bought a player we made significant profits, when we sold them.....I suspect Dr Tone would be stuffing notes in to their hands. In the last 10 years our record has been Iffy IMO.....so you can understand, caution being used. conversely, I would think Levy & Lewis have been very happy in recent times.
  7. The thing that tickles me sometimes is the way a team is set up.....because during the game it changes so many times.....The game is dynamic, so it follows that the shape can change with the ebb and flow.....who ever is having the upper hand usually dictates this. I remember Blackburn in their pomp at VP......They were so on top of us their centre Backs..... Hendry and Berg, was playing in midfield, pushing so far forward. I have to laugh sometimes at the mistakes they pick out......There are mistakes and mistakes......some mistakes are so difficult to avoid due to the speed of the game and the dynamic of it......and if it was all so avoidable, why did they make them too, when they was playing.
  8. An Interesting observation reported in the Birmingham mail this evening on Jonathan Kodjia. Peter Withe was generally in praise of the player, but highlighted a flaw. He said he has spoken to Steve Bruce and so has Brian Little on the very subject. They have suggested to Steve that the coaches work on his awareness.....Peter said he scores some great goals and is a very talented player, but there are times his decision making could be suspect.....there maybe a better/easier opportunity with another player.....He needs to be aware of that. I hope he does, he will then be some player.
  9. I agree with that. I am generalising I think the ingredient we are missing lends itself to the modest buys.....The big money buys in the main tend to bring with it the billy BB culture and encourages a bit of individualism as opposed to team work. Having said that I do think we need an effective winger. I think the next 3 or 4 need to be well thought through.
  10. Hey!......I'm going back a long time ago, but many of the Euro players hang around the corporate on corporate duties....These guys are accessible. when you speak to them, many think we ( us fans)over analyse it.....I think the sky pundits do it for trending purposes.
  11. If we can get 11m for Gestede and Westwood anything is possible.
  12. They( Brian & Andy) made it work.....ask Brian when you see him.
  13. Wasn't meant in that context Brin......you tinker should have put or as opposed to &
  14. The situation this club got itself in to.......has it been that surprising?
  15. I guess some of it depends on where we are located. I feel for the fans, who have to rely on the media coverage. .......but hey ho, we need to get back in many ways.
  16. I would think Steve Bruce knows exactly the situation, I would be amazed otherwise.....any discerning fan could see this transfer business, with so many not giving us the necessary return, could not continue. It has nothing to do with the wealth of the owner, its basic economics and housekeeping. The situation with so many players to move on, should be understood by everyone. IMO the players that cost much money are in place.....its the engine room that needs most attention and a powerful CB, a tricky winger that can wreak havoc is another must. we have suffered with our recruitment in previous years and many need to be moved on.....that should raise sufficient funds to do the job. this league does not work quite the same as the prem......There are players out there that would attract modest sums that could be a good blend for us and create that gel we have been so badly lacking. who would have thought Neil Taylor was arguably our best January signing.
  17. Well, Andy Gray and Brian Little forged their own partnership, the club didn't do it for them. was the team set up for Gerry Hitchens & Pongo waring?
  18. No, we are not doomed or anything like it.....its a tough job, not an impossible one. I agree in the sense that i feel sorry for him too. my solution is......let them trade their way out of it. no more money, unless a ridiculous deal rears its head. no more staff running away, face the music and deal with it....it requires a manly approach not a bunch of pussies....i think steve has that quality. ps they all have to play their way out of this.
  19. Well i thought we played 4-3-3 when we won the league. but more importantly we had players who complimented each other, we had balance, determination , combatitive spirit and 110 % work rate. we had players who could win the ball, scheme, defend and score. There was no household names on recruitment .....they made them with us. but the most important they played for each other as a TEAM. we are still playing like individuals.
