  1. One of the most impressive things in that win, was how we saw out the game with a minimum of fuss. No squeaky bum time. Just pure uncomplicated, ice cold professionalism. What a change in mentality! Unreal!
  2. It feels like Buendia is trying a bit too hard to force things. He's still picking up very good positions and hassling them when we don't have the ball, but Unai might need to put an arm around him and tell him to calm down and keep things a bit simpler.

    Unai Emery

What a fantastic announcement to wake up to!
  4. I must've missed this but how come Luiz is playing? Didn't he have a red card suspension?
  5. The footballing gods are surely making the call tonight.
  6. Neil said this on the last episode of the "For the Love of Paul McGrath" podcast which I reckon is probably true. The club are gonna keep Gerard in the job till they can nail down the new manager. The longer they leave the gap between firing Gerard and hiring the new guy, the longer the club will be crucified for "not giving Gerard more time" by all his mates in the media. If they can shorten that gap as much as possible, the focus will be on the new guy. As much as we don't care about that, perception definitely matters to the club.
  7. First game for the women underway. Playing well against Man City. Well taken goal from Lehmann has us 1-0 up.
  8. We all need to make sacrifices for the benefit of the club.
  9. Thanks for everything Anwar. A top class professional, always humble and contributed to some of the most important moments in recent Villa history. Absolute class act. All the best!
  10. Definitely agree it's a well written article though. Particularly enjoyed this bit describing the current malaise: The article is more interesting than our football!
  11. Optus Sport is the main broadcaster of the Premier League here in Australia, so it's not exactly obscure But I can understand its not a major British or American outlet.
  12. This might've been spoken about earlier, but I think Gerard's comments after West Ham were telling. He spoke about "not having imagination or creative spark" to unpick West Ham in the final third. Surely it's on him and his team to come up with an avenue to open up West Ham. It shouldn't be down to the "imagination" of the players to figure it out. It also doesn't help to complain about not having a "creative spark" when you've got Buendia and Bailey sitting on the bench. The man isn't a coach or a tactician.
  13. Whoever the new manager is (hopefully sooner rather than later), they need backing to bring in their trusted coaching team. I'm not sure who Poch had with him at Spurs and PSG, but it's imperative they're brought in as well to give the manager the best chance of succeeding.
  14. The ball swung narrowly out of play before coming back in. It was tight but clearly the correct decision.
  15. My gaming time has severely reduced over the past 6 months with work picking up. However, I did platinum Ghost of Tsushima and can agree that it's a brilliant game. Loved it! Rather than picking up anything right now, I'm thinking of just waiting for God Of War Ragnarok. I've had my eye on Horizon for awhile, but haven't played the first one, and from what I've read, you need to play the first to understand the story of the second?
