I am in the middle on Bent. I thought he worked very hard and did very well in the air, but he needed to put away one of his four chances, and he had to hit that ball from Holman?(think it was him) towards the end of the match first time. I think his confidence will grow as the team grows. What I was thinking about the entire game was how much better Bentake would be in the role Bent was playing and how much better Bent could be in Weimann's role. Getting excited.

Feel like we deserved 3 points here, but a great draw on the road. Most importantly, however, is the level of improvement in just three matches. First of all, Lambert is the one who turned down Dempsey after we could have gone in for him again later in the day. Secondly, when has Lambert every shown a desire to get in the "big" players? Where in his coaching history has that ever been his philosophy? Finally, how do you type "So it's clearly Lerner's policy[,] not Lambert's." with out any justification at all in your post. If you are going to make a declarative statement, at least give some evidence, or are we all just suppose to believe what you said because you said it?

The team we're creating wouldn't get anywhere near the final. Can you honestly believe that Lambert is trying not trying to create a team that will win things like that. It's not a quick fix. It's not going to happen this season, It's likely it won't happen next season. The longer Lambert has to create his team the more likely it will be a winning team. I hope you're right, but make no mistake this is the worst Villa squad I've seen since 86/87. We haven't got time. If we get it wrong this season we'll be relegated and the shit will hit the fan. This isn't based on some grand plan from Lerner which will reap the benefits in the future, this is based purely on Lerner cutting costs. Lambert will have to be an unbelievable manager to turn a bunch of lower league and unknown foreign players into a PL team to contend with. As I said, I hope I'm wrong and you're right, but this whole situation stinks and this is a very worrying time for Villa. Yep. Cutting costs by spending 20 million.
